SARS-CoV-2 emerged in 2019 as a devastating viral pathogen with no available preventative or treatment to control what led to the current global pandemic. The continued spread of the virus and increasing death toll necessitate the development of effective antiviral treatments to combat this virus. To this end, we evaluated a new class of organometallic complexes as potential antivirals. Our findings demonstrate that two pentamethylcyclopentadienyl (Cp*) rhodium piano stool complexes, Cp*Rh(1,3-dicyclohexylimidazol-2-ylidene)Cl2 (complex 2) and Cp*Rh(dipivaloylmethanato)Cl (complex 4), have direct virucidal activity against SARS-CoV-2. Subsequent in vitro testing suggests that complex 4 is the more stable and effective complex and demonstrates that both 2 and 4 have low toxicity in Vero E6 and Calu-3 cells. The results presented here highlight the potential application of organometallic complexes as antivirals and support further investigation into their activity.  相似文献

The upconversion-based optical heating and temperature sensing characteristics are investigated in the Er3+/Yb3+/Bi3+ tri-doped La2O3 nano-phosphor synthesized through a solution combustion method. The structural measurements reveal an increase in lattice parameters and particles size of the phosphor on increasing the concentrations of Bi3+ ions. The energy dispersive spectroscopic (EDS) measurements confirm the presence of La, Er, Yb, Bi and O elements in the tri-doped phosphor. The absorption spectra show the large number of bands due to Er3+, Yb3+ and Bi3+ ions. The Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped phosphor gives strong green emission bands at 523 and 548 nm upon 976 nm excitation due to 2H11/24I15/2 and 4S3/24I15/2 transitions of Er3+ ion, respectively. The emission intensity of these bands is enhanced upto 15 times in the presence of Bi3+ ions. The emission intensities of the 523 and 548 nm bands vary non-linearly with the pump power. The fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) of the thermally coupled 523 and 548 nm emission bands shows efficient optical heating in the tri-doped phosphor. The FIR of the 523 and 548 nm emission bands further varies with the increase in temperature of the phosphor. The relative temperature sensing sensitivity has been calculated to be 71 × 10−4 K−1 at 450 K for the tri-doped phosphor. Thus, the Er3+/Yb3+/Bi3+ tri-doped La2O3 nano-phosphor may provide a platform to use it in the photonic devices, as an optical heater and temperature sensor.

The Er3+/Yb3+/Bi3+ tri-doped La2O3 nano-phosphor gives efficient induced optical heating and temperature sensing. This study is useful to understand these characteristics in different materials with various pump powers and temperatures.  相似文献

Resveratrol is a polyphenolic nutraceutical that exhibits pleiotropic activities in human subjects. The efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of resveratrol have been documented in over 244 clinical trials, with an additional 27 clinical trials currently ongoing. Resveretrol is reported to potentially improve the therapeutic outcome in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, obesity, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, multiple myeloma, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, inflammatory diseases, and rhinopharyngitis. The polyphenol is reported to be safe at doses up to 5 g/d, when used either alone or as a combination therapy. The molecular basis for the pleiotropic activities of resveratrol are based on its ability to modulate multiple cell signaling molecules such as cytokines, caspases, matrix metalloproteinases, Wnt, nuclear factor-κB, Notch, 5′-AMP-activated protein kinase, intercellular adhesion molecule, vascular cell adhesion molecule, sirtuin type 1, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator 1α, insulin-like growth factor 1, insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3, Ras association domain family 1α, pAkt, vascular endothelial growth factor, cyclooxygenase 2, nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2, and Kelch-like ECH–associated protein 1. Although the clinical utility of resveratrol is well documented, the rapid metabolism and poor bioavailability have limited its therapeutic use. In this regard, the recently produced micronized resveratrol formulation called SRT501, shows promise. This review discusses the currently available clinical data on resveratrol in the prevention, management, and treatment of various diseases and disorders. Based on the current evidence, the potential utility of this molecule in the clinic is discussed.  相似文献

Increased IgG and oligoclonal bands are found in cerebrospinal fluid of humans with chronic infectious CNS disease. Studies have shown that these oligoclonal bands are antibodies directed against the agent that causes disease. Laser-capture microdissection was used to isolate individual CD38+ plasma cells from the brain of a patient with subacute sclerosing panencephalitis, and single-cell RT-PCR was used to analyze individual IgG heavy and light chains expressed by each cell. Based on overrepresented IgG sequences, we constructed functional recombinant antibodies (recombinant IgGs) and determined their specificities. Five of eight recombinant IgGs recognized measles virus, the cause of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis. These results demonstrate that overrepresented IgG sequences in postmortem brains can be used to produce functional recombinant antibodies that recognize their target antigens. This strategy can be used to identify disease-relevant antigens in CNS inflammatory diseases of unknown etiology.  相似文献

Twenty-seven cases of Post Kala-Azar Dermal Leishmaniasis (P. K. D. L.) were detected in an endemic focus of Kala-azar in Sujabad village in Varanasi Distt. Male-Female ratio of cases was 4.4:1. Majority (66.6 per cent) of cases had macular lesions. Histopathology of one case showed Leishmania donovani (L. D.) bodies. Densities of sand fly were more in pockets where P. K. D. L. cases were detected. All the 13 cases, which were treated with sodium antimony gluconate, responded well to therapy.  相似文献

Introduction and objectivesLong-term outcomes of unselected patients treated with bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) implantation are lacking, especially for the period after complete dissolution of the BVS. This study sought to evaluate 5-year outcomes in patients treated with BVS in routine practice.MethodsConsecutive patients who underwent implantation of everolimus-eluting BVS during routine clinical practice at 2 high-volume centres in Germany were studied. The patients were followed-up for up to 5 years. The primary endpoints of interest were the composite of death, myocardial infarction and target lesion revascularization, as well as definite scaffold thrombosis.ResultsA total of 419 patients (mean age 66.6 ± 10.9 years; 31.5% had diabetes) were included, of whom 38.9% presented with an acute coronary syndrome. Of the 527 lesions treated, 49.0% were classified as complex and 13.1% were bifurcation lesions. At 5 years, the composite clinical endpoint occurred in 33.1% of patients and definite scaffold thrombosis occurred in 4.7%. Most definite scaffold thrombosis occurred within 2 years after BVS implantation.ConclusionsIn patients treated with BVS implantation in routine clinical practice the rates of adverse clinical events at 5 years were high, including a considerable incidence of scaffold thrombosis.  相似文献
