The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of fluoroscopy-guided percutaneous injection of bleomycin as the primary treatment for low-flow vascular malformations. A total of 34 patients (mean (range) age 24 (8–51) years) with orofacial vascular lesions were treated in the Department of Interventional Radiology and Maxillofacial Surgery. There were 20 low-flow venous malformations, 11 lymphatic malformations, and three of mixed type. All patients were treated by fluoroscopy-guided percutaneous injection of a mixture of bleomycin (mean (range) 15 (5–15) mg) and a radio-opaque agent (Ultravist® (iopromide), Bayer)/session. The number of sessions ranged from one to six. The clinical response was complete in 21 patients, obvious in nine, and of clinical benefit in four. Patients were reviewed within the first week, third week, and at three-month periods until 24 months. There were no serious complications such as pulmonary fibrosis. Fluoroscopy-guided intralesional injection of bleomycin should be considered as the first-line treatment for lymphatic malformations because it is effective and reliable with few complications. 相似文献

Recent studies have shown that poor sleep quality is significantly associated with obesity. The aim of this study is to examine the association of sleep quality with obesity and specific anthropometric measurements. A total of 105 women aged 20–55 years with no chronic diseases participated in this study. They filled out the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), their anthropometric measurements were taken, and their dietary data were collected with a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). There was no significant relationship between sleep quality and BMI, waist circumference, triceps skinfold thicknesses, body fat ratio (%), and body fat mass (p > .05), but high bread consumption was significantly associated with poor sleep quality (p < .05). The women with poor sleep quality consumed significantly more bread, but not other foods, than the women with good sleep quality. Sleep quality can thus be related to eating habits. 相似文献

IntroductionThe present study aimed to compare the torsional strength of the initial files of the Mtwo (VDW, Munich, Germany) and novel Rotate systems (VDW, Munich, Germany) with the ProGlider (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland) and R-Pilot (VDW) glide path instruments.MethodsThe Mtwo (10/.04), ProGlider (16/.02), R-Pilot (12.5/.04), and Rotate (15/.04) glide path files were compared regarding their torsional strength, which was tested using a specially designed test device (N = 20). The data obtained were statistically analyzed at 5% significance level using 1-way analysis of variance and the post hoc Tukey test. The fragment surfaces and separated instruments were examined with ×50, ×100, and ×1000 magnification under a scanning electron microscope.ResultsThe R-Pilot group showed the highest torsional strength value among all groups (P < .05), whereas there was no significant difference between the torsional strength values of the Mtwo and ProGlider groups (P > .05). The Rotate group had the lowest torsional strength among all groups (P < .05). The Mtwo group showed the lowest angle of rotation among all groups (P < .05).ConclusionsAlthough the R-Pilot glide path file exhibited the highest torsional strength in all groups, Rotate showed the highest angle of rotation. Background The pathogenesis of psoriasis has not been known exactly yet. Recently, it has been suggested that increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as nitric oxide (NO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) may play a part in the pathogenesis of various skin diseases, including psoriasis. Objectives In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of ROS in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods A convenience sample of 23 patients with psoriasis and 23 healthy subjects consented to participate in the study. Plasma NO and MDA levels were measured in all participants. Psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) and tissue levels of MDA on lesional and non‐lesional skin regions of psoriasis patients were measured. In addition, the correlation between age, gender with plasma NO, plasma MDA and tissue MDA was assessed. Results Plasma levels of NO and MDA in psoriasis patients (135.8 μmol/L, 4.33 μmol/L, respectively) were statistically significantly higher than those in controls (33.6 μmol/L, 2.03 μmol/L, respectively). Tissue levels of MDA in lesional tissues (49.18 nmol/gr) were significantly higher than those in non‐lesional tissues (28.41 nmol/gr). A significant correlation was not found between the PASI and levels of NO and MDA. In addition, a significant negative correlation was found between the plasma NO levels and age. Conclusion NO and MDA levels are elevated in psoriasis patients, which may indicate that oxidative stress plays an important role in the aetiopathogenesis of psoriasis. 相似文献

Inhibition of the proteasome has emerged as a clinically effective anticancer therapeutic approach in recent years. Bortezomib (Velcade®) showed extremely high potency against a wide range of cancer cell lines. Ixazomib (MLN9708-MLN2238), the second-generation proteasome inhibitor, selectivity and potency were similar to that of bortezomib, is currently being investigated in phase I studies. It shows superior antitumor activity in hematologic malignancy, especially multiple myelomas. In this study, for the first time, we evaluated and compared the antiproliferative and apoptotic effects of the novel proteasome inhibitor MLN2238 (the active form of MLN9708) with bortezomib using in vitro chronic myeloid leukemia. Cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of MLN2238 and bortezomib were determined by trypan blue dye exclusion assays, WST-1 cell proliferation assay, increased AnnexinV-PI binding capacity, changes in caspase-3 activity and loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (JC-1). Associated with proteasome pathway NFκB1 and c-myc mRNA expression levels were examined by the qRT-PCR method. We observed that cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on K562 cells were started at 5?μm of MLN2238 and 1?μm of bortezomib after 24 and 48?h. Also, MLN2238 and bortezomib downregulated NFκB1 and c-myc mRNA expression at 24?h. Our result revealed that MLN22238 and bortezomib had significant cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on K562 cells. Here, we first demonstrate in vitro data that support the development of MLN2238, by direct comparison with bortezomib on K562 cells. 相似文献
