An 8-year-old boy with left thumb loss
and scar contracture of the first web, index and
middle finger caused by electric injury, was. suc-
cessfully treated by free second toe transplan-
tation for thumb reconstruction. Following-up
two and half years, roentgenograms showed the
enlargement of the epiphysis and bone develop-
ment. It is considered that the method is effec-
tive in the treatment of pediatric and a.dult
cases. Early repair is thought to be good not
only for the child's local bone growth and
deveolpment but for restoration of reconstructed
