An acoustic metamaterial superlattice is used for the spatial and spectral deconvolution of a broadband acoustic pulse into narrowband signals with different central frequencies. The operating frequency range is located on the second transmission band of the superlattice. The decomposition of the broadband pulse was achieved by the frequency-dependent refraction angle in the superlattice. The refracted angle within the acoustic superlattice was larger at higher operating frequency and verified by numerical calculated and experimental mapped sound fields between the layers. The spatial dispersion and the spectral decomposition of a broadband pulse were studied using lateral position-dependent frequency spectra experimentally with and without the superlattice structure along the direction of the propagating acoustic wave. In the absence of the superlattice, the acoustic propagation was influenced by the usual divergence of the beam, and the frequency spectrum was unaffected. The decomposition of the broadband wave in the superlattice’s presence was measured by two-dimensional spatial mapping of the acoustic spectra along the superlattice’s in-plane direction to characterize the propagation of the beam through the crystal. About 80% of the frequency range of the second transmission band showed exceptional performance on decomposition.  相似文献

Cardiac fibrillation, a form of cardiac arrhythmia, is the most common cause of embolic stroke and death associated with heart failure. The molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac fibrillation are largely unknown. Here we report a zebrafish model for cardiac fibrillation. The hearts of zebrafish tremblor (tre) mutants exhibit chaotic movements and fail to develop synchronized contractions. Calcium imaging showed that normal calcium transients are absent in tre cardiomyocytes, and molecular cloning of the tre mutation revealed that the tre locus encodes the zebrafish cardiac-specific sodium-calcium exchanger (NCX) 1, NCX1h. Forced expression of NCX1h or other calcium-handling molecules restored synchronized heartbeats in tre mutant embryos in a dosage-dependent manner, demonstrating the critical role of calcium homeostasis in maintaining embryonic cardiac function. By creating mosaic zebrafish embryos, we showed that sporadic NCX1h-null cells were not sufficient to disrupt normal cardiac function, but clustered wild-type cardiomyocytes contract in unison in tre mutant hearts. These data signify the essential role of calcium homeostasis and NCX1h in establishing rhythmic contraction in the embryonic zebrafish heart.  相似文献

Heart failure (HF) is very common in the elderly but there are not sufficient data about the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of HF among the Asian elderly patients. The aim of the study was to find out the clinical characteristics, survival, and prognostic factors of HF in Korean elderly patients. Among elderly patients admitted from February 1995 to February 1998, the patients with a discharge diagnosis of HF were enrolled. Through the medical record review, the diagnosis was confirmed and clinical parameters to affect survival were identified. Total number of the subjects was 104 [age: 77+/-7 years (65-96), male:female=36:68, follow-up duration: 20+/-14 months, LVEF: 46+/-16%]. Ischemic heart disease (IHD) was the most common cause of HF (42%) followed by valvular heart disease (28%), and hypertension (20%). The 1-year survival rate was 71.3%. Advanced age [risk ratio (RR): 1.41 per 5 years of age; 95% CI: 1.11-1.80] and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (0.69 per 10%, 0.52-0.93), poor initial functional class (2.40, 1.15-5.00), diabetes (2.79, 1.30-5.97) and past history of HF (2.37, 1.10-5.10) badly affected the survival rates. When the Cox proportional hazard model was applied for multivariate analysis, only aging (1.64 per 5 years of age, 1.19-2.28) and diabetes (4.92, 1.83-13.23) predicted poor prognosis. Twenty-seven percent of the patients had diastolic HF (LVEF>45%, LVEDD<55 mm) who had higher survival rates with marginal significance (0.35, 0.10-1.17, P=0.09).  相似文献
