We have previously reported the production of endothelin, a potent vasoconstrictor peptide, by porcine cerebral microvessel endothelia and suggested its important role in the regulation of local blood flow within the brain. In our present study, radioimmunoassay with anti-porcine endothelin antiserum revealed that endothelin, produced by cerebral microvessel endothelia grown on a filter, is released mainly to the basement membrane side, not the vascular lumen side. This finding suggests that endothelin constricts arterioles locally where it is produced by endothelia. We also found that cerebral microvessel endothelia produce less endothelin under low oxygen pressure and more endothelin under low carbon dioxide pressure. Our results suggest that endothelin has a role in the regulation of cerebral blood flow in response to oxygen and carbon dioxide pressure. 相似文献

1. Depressive psychomotor retardation, as observed by delayed reaction times (RT), may be related to a slowing in information processing speed. 2. Two separate studies compared indices of information processing speed in depressed patients and non-clinical controls by segmenting behavioral RT with brain event-related potentials (ERPs) and electromyographic (EMG) responses. 3. In Study I, slower behavioral RTs in depression were concomitant with slower central processing times (CPT) but not motor execution times (MET). 4. Levels of the nerve growth factor (NGF) have been measured in various brain regions of young and aged male and female rats of Wistar strain by means of a highly sensitive two-site enzyme immunoassay system for beta-NGF. Among the ten regions examined, the amount of NGF per wet weight of tissue was found to be highest in the hippocampus, irrespective of the sex and age. The NGF concentration in the hippocampus of female rats at 3 months of age was comparable to that of same aged males. Further, there was no significant difference in the NGF levels of the hippocampus between young and age males. However, the NGF level was significantly lower in aged females as compared to that in 3- or 4-month-old females, and hence the marked male-female difference was found in the NGF levels in aged Wistar rats. 相似文献

Ontogenesis of the cerebellofugal projection was studied in the rat by the tract-tracing method with WGA-HRP. The projection, forming a uniform front of compact fibre bundle tipped by growth cones, began entering the brainstem on embryonic day 17 (E17), grew rapidly and orderly with no random extension of fibers, and arrived at the most rostral part of the thalamus already by E18, distributing dense terminals to various brainstem and thalamic nuclei. The course and termination of this projection in prenatal animals was largely similar to normal adult projection although differences were found. Some projections increased postnatally, whereas some projections which were existent in embryos regressed with age and finally disappeared completely. The adult pattern of the projection was attained by 3 weeks of age. It is worth noting that the projections which appeared transiently are similar to those reported as aberrantly regenerated projections in kittens which are born in more mature state than rats and have no such projections at birth. 相似文献

The derivatives (2) of 3-(2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxo-5-benzofuranyl) acrylic acid (2b) were synthesized. The compounds (3a-g) in which bromo, methoxy, nitro, amino or acetamido group was introduced on the benzene ring of the derivatives (2) and the compounds (3h-k) in which acryloyl moiety was introduced on the 6- or 7-position of the benzofuranone skeleton also synthesized. Furthermore, propionic acid derivatives (4a-c), acetic acid derivatives (4d-g), formic acid derivatives (4h-k) and oxyacetic acid derivatives (5) were prepared by converting the acryloyl moiety of the derivatives (2) into propionyl, acetyl, formyl and oxyacetyl groups. These compounds were tested for antiulcer activities. Among these compounds, 1-[3-(2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxo-5-benzofuranyl)acryloyl]piperidine (2d) and 4-[3-(2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxo-5-benzofuranyl)acryloyl] morpholine (2g) were found to have stronger antiulcer activities. 相似文献
