Specific epstein-barr virus serological response in patients with nasopiiaryngeal carcinoma detected by immunoblotting

The specific humoral immune response against Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antigens in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was compared to that of patients with infectious mononucleosis (IM) and other EBV-seropositive subjects using immunoblotting technique. Almost all sera from E,BV serologically associated NPC reacted reproducibly with a major group of polypeptides (four to six) of early antigen (EA) complex with molecular weights ranging from 50 kD to 58 kD, and with some additional polypeptides. Sera from IM-patients reproducibly recognized only one polypeptide of 50 kD belonging to the major group of polypeptides of EA-complex. Sera from patients with other types of head and neck cancer and relatively high levels of IgG antibody against viral capsid antigen (VCA) and EA did not react reproducibly with any of the EBV-associated proteins.     

Vibration elicited vasoconstrictor reflex in Raynaud''s phenomena.

The fingers of seven women with primary Raynaud's phenomenon (PRP), 10 female controls, seven men with vibration induced white finger (VWF), and eight male controls were exposed to vibration and the relative change in finger capillary blood flow was measured by an atraumatic 133xenon washout technique without and during proximal nervous blockade. All four groups showed a vasoconstriction to vibration (p less than or equal to 0.02) which was abolished by proximal nervous blockade. Women with PRP had an augmented response to vibration (p less than 0.01) and men with VWF had a normal response (p greater than 0.10) when compared with that of their respective sex matched controls. The results show the existence of a vibration elicited central sympathetic vasoconstrictor reflex in the normal finger and in fingers affected by PRP and VWF. The results indicate a hyperreactivity of the central sympathetic nervous system in PRP and VWF and a dysfunction of the peripheral sensory nerve fibres in subjects with VWF. The described vibration test may be of guidance in the differentiation of PRP from VWF.     

Transjugular intrahepatic cavoportal shunt for Budd–Chiari syndrome

Budd–Chiari syndrome (BCS) is characterized by obstruction of the hepatic venous outflow tract. Therapeutic options for BCS are limited. We report a case of a 21-year-old woman with protein S and C deficiency with gross ascites. Treatment with transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) was attempted, which revealed occluded hepatic veins, so transcaval TIPS was performed. No serious procedure-related complication occurred. After successful shunt creation, the patient's symptoms subsided and she was discharged and followed up for 6 months.     

用微机对青霉素皮试作辅助判断的临床应用的探讨

目的探讨微机对青霉素皮试结果作辅助判断的准确性。方法我们根据青霉素皮试常规观察指标设计了青霉素皮试观察记录单,分三个时段观察青霉素皮试的结果。计算机程序判断青霉素皮试的结果是对观察记录经过综合分析得出的。结果应用计算机对376例青霉素皮试的结果进行辅助判定,其结果表明计算机程序对青霉素皮试结果的判断正确性不低于人工判定,经χ2检验P>0.05,说明两者判断结果无显著性。
