Neonates with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) suffer from a diaphragmatic defect, lung hypoplasia, and pulmonary hypertension, with poor lung function forming the major clinical challenge. Despite prenatal diagnosis and advanced postnatal treatment strategies, the mortality rate of CDH is still high. CDH has been subject of extensive research over the past decades, but its etiology remains unknown. A major problem with CDH is the failure to predict the individual response to treatment modalities like high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. In this study, we tested the possibility that CDH lungs are surfactant protein deficient, which could explain the respiratory failure and difficulties in treating CDH infants. We investigated this hypothesis in the nitrofen-induced CDH rat model and assessed the cellular concentrations of surfactant protein (SP)-A, -B, and -C mRNA with a quantitative radioactive in situ hybridization technique. No differences were observed between control and CDH lungs for SP mRNA expression patterns. The cellular concentration (mean OD) of SP-A and SP-B mRNA was similar at all stages whereas the mean OD of SP-C mRNA and the volume fraction of cells (% Area) expressing SP mRNA was higher in CDH lungs at term. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed no differences between control and CDH lungs for SP protein expression. No differences in the mean OD or % Area for the SP mRNAs were found between the ipsi- and contralateral side of CDH lungs. Propylene glycol (propane-1,2-diol) is the only diol widely used in dermatology. Pentane-1,5-diol is mainly used as a plasticizer
in cellulose products and adhesives, in dental composites and in brake fluid compositions and as a preservative for grain.
However, pentane-1,5-diol is also an effective solvent, water-binding substance, antimicrobial agent and preservative and
may therefore replace several ingredients in a skin composition. The release of tri-iodothyroacetic acid (TRIAC) and percutaneous
absorption of hydrocortisone and mometasone furoate with either pentane-1,5-diol or propane-1,2-diol and 2-methyl-pentane-2,4-diol
(hexylene glycol), respectively, as enhancers was compared. The release of TRIAC was 21% higher when pentane-1,5-diol was
used as an enhancer instead of propane-1,2-diol. The percutaneous absorption of hydrocortisone through the skin was increased
12 times with propane-1,2-diol compared to 4.4 times with pentane-1,5-diol. However, the percutaneous absorption of hydrocortisone
into the skin was 50% higher with pentane-1,5-diol compared to propane-1,2-diol. There was no significant difference, between
the original mometasone furoate cream, with 2-methyl-pentane-2,4-diol, and the new cream with pentane-1,5-diol in the amount
of mometasone furoate that was absorbed into the skin and through the skin. However, the cosmetic properties of the new mometasone
furoate cream was superior to the original mometasone furoate cream, for examples, no bad odour, more even texture, goes better
into the skin and has less greasiness. Pentane-1,5-diol can be used as a technology platform, which adds a series of desirable
properties to dermatological preparations and enhances product usability. This will result in improved formulations for a
series of major and commonly used dermatological drugs. When used in pharmaceutical topical preparations, pentane-1,5-diol
will increase the percutaneous absorption of the active substance and it is an efficient antimicrobial agent that will act
as an effective preservative in topical formulations. Pentane-1,5-diol is cosmetically attractive, has low risk for skin and
eye irritation compared to other diols, low toxicity risk and no bad odour. 相似文献

目的总结以高能量创伤为主要致伤因素的小腿开放性骨折治疗经验。方法回顾性总结分析小腿开放性骨折218例225肢临床资料。结果本组218例225肢按Gustio分型,Ⅰ型95肢,Ⅱ型78肢,Ⅲ型52肢,其中休克13例(5.9%),骨筋膜室综合征16例(7.1%),伤口Ⅰ期愈合者186肢(82.6%),骨折Ⅰ期愈合者179肢(79.6%),血管吻合术7例,术后肢体功能和劳动能力恢复者172肢(76.4%)。结论本组高能量创伤造成的高能骨折占多数,故应重视抗休克、抗感染和多发伤的处理,尽早清创闭合伤口,骨折固定以钢板内固定最多,将来交锁髓内钉的应用会越来越多。 相似文献

This study describes the migration, proliferation, and invasion behaviour of two human glioma cell lines, GaMg and U-87 Mg,
grown as multicellular tumour spheroids after 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMGCoA) reductase inhibitor (simvastatin)
therapy. Migration and proliferation studies were performed using simvastatin in concentrations of 0.2–30 μg/ml-1. A coculture system in which tumour spheroids were confronted with foetal rat brain aggregates was used for invasion studies.
A dose-dependent growth and migratory inhibitory response to simvastatin treatment was observed. Marked invasion of the glioma
spheroids into the brain aggregates could be seen in both treated and nontreated groups. Simvastatin therapy inhibits tumour
cell growth and migration, but the invasiveness of the remaining tumour cells seems to be unaffected. 相似文献

Cholesteatomas can be subclassified into genuine and acquired forms. Whilst epidermoid formations are the generally accepted cause of genuine cholesteatomas, metaplasia, immigration, proliferation and retraction pocket theories have all been proposed to explain the development of acquired cholesteatomas. Clinically, paediatric cholesteatomas exhibit more extensive and aggressive growth than those arising in adulthood. Molecular biological differences in terms of angiogenesis, cytokine expression and particularly the more marked inflammatory responses of the perimatrix could potentially explain these clinical differences. The surgical therapy of paediatric cholesteatomas should be adapted to the individual pathological findings, although where possible a canal wall up procedure is preferred during initial surgery. The “inside-out” mastoidectomy tracking-technique combines the benefits of a good surgical overview with those of a physiological postoperative auditory canal. 相似文献
