We attempted to fit heart rate (HR) changes induced by constant exercise loads of different intensities to an exponential hyperbolic sine curve by the least-squares method, and we compared the results with the fitting of the changes to exponential curves. Seven healthy male volunteers performed three different intensities of constant-load exercise on a bicycle ergometer. The exponential hyperbolic sine function adequately fitted the HR responses induced by all three different intensities of loads: low (30 W: correlation coefficient, r = 0.68 +/- 0.13, mean +/- SD), moderate (75 W: r = 0.93 +/- 0.07) and high (125 W: r = 0.97 +/- 0.02). The first-order exponential curve fitted only the moderate load response. Although the second-order exponential equation fitted the HR response for both the moderate and high loads, the equation did not fit the low-load response (r = 0.43 +/- 0.26). In low-load exercise, the sum of the power of the residuals for the exponential hyperbolic sine curve fitting was significantly smaller than that for the first- or second-order exponential curve fitting. In conclusion, the exponential hyperbolic sine function is useful for quantitative analyses of the HR response to exercise loads of various intensities.  相似文献

An investigation has been carried out to study changes in shape on aging in plastic deformed Ag-Pd-Au-Cu alloys. The changes in shape were measured in order to establish a relationship to the aging heat treatments. Their microstructure was observed in order to clarify this phenomenon at the same time. They were also investigated quantitatively using a feature analysis system. The changes in shape were interpreted as the shrinkage in volume resulting from the formation of the ordered phase. They were smaller at aging temperatures below 673 K. The change in microstructure was different at aging temperature between 573 and 773 K. These phenomena were due to the following: First, nodules which nucleated at the grain boundaries would have grown into the grains well before the formation of the ordered phase, and second, the shrinkage in volume would have been of a different kind that the ordered phase. Therefore aging treatments should be carried out at low temperature in order to minimize the changes in shape. Also, nodular growth should be inhibited in order to maximize the hardening in Ag-rich alloys.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Eosinophils contribute to the pathogenesis of asthma and localize to the lung after allergen exposure by uncertain mechanisms. METHODS: We used intrabronchial instillation of allergen to model the interaction between inhaled allergen and the lung. We measured the number of peripheral blood leukocytes and the expression of VLA-4 (CD49d), Mac-1 (CD11b) and PSGL-1 (CD162) up to 4 h after instillation of allergen into a bronchus of eight atopic asthmatics. For controls, we instilled normal saline into a subset of the asthmatic subjects, and allergen into nonatopic, nonasthmatic subjects. RESULTS: There were changes of total leukocyte number, number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils in all three groups (atopic asthmatics instilled with allergen, atopic asthmatics instilled with saline, nonatopic nonasthmatic subjects instilled with allergen), which were likely related to bronchoscopy. However, the decrease of eosinophils was significant only in the atopic asthmatics instilled with allergen. The remaining eosinophils in the allergen challenged asthmatics were not activated as defined by cell density or change of expression of VLA-4, Mac-1 and PSGL-1. CONCLUSIONS: While eosinophils rapidly and specifically leave the circulation after allergen challenge of atopic asthmatics, the remaining circulating eosinophils are not activated.  相似文献

By contrast to well-defined Fc gamma and Fc epsilon receptors, the structural and functional characteristics of Fc mu receptor are unclear. We have recently described a novel mouse Fc receptor, designated Fc alpha/mu receptor, and its human homologue, which bind both IgM and IgA. Here we show that the Fc alpha/mu receptor is expressed on mature, but not immature, B lymphocytes and acquires the ability to bind IgM and IgA antibodies after stimulation of B lymphocytes. Moreover, stimulation with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate increased endocytosis of IgM-coated microparticles mediated by the Fc alpha/mu receptor expressed on pro-B cell line Ba/F3 cells. We also show that the Fc alpha/mu receptor is expressed in secondary lymphoid organs, such as lymph node and appendix, kidney and intestine, suggesting an important role of the receptor for immunity in these organs.  相似文献

We described two female patients with primary Sj?gren's syndrome associated with localized cutaneous nodular amyloidosis (LCNA), in which amyloid protein was derived from immunoglobulin light chain. Case 1; a 70-year-old female had complained with polyarthralgia, low-grade fever and parotid gland swelling. She was diagnosed as primary Sj?gren's syndrome. Three years later she noticed brown color small tumor on the thigh and yellow to brown nodules on the bilateral calves of legs. Skin biopsy from the left thigh revealed amyloid L protein deposition, which was positive for anti-lambda light chain staining, in almost entire dermis. Infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells around the amyloid deposit were prominent. Case 2; a 51-year-old female had noticed increasing eruption on the hip. Skin biopsy revealed amyloid L protein deposition in the dermis, which was negative for anti-lambda nor kappa light chain staining. When she was refereed to our hospital, she complained of xerostomia and xerophthalmia. She was diagnosed as primary Sj?gren's syndrome. In both cases, histological examination of a minor salivary gland biopsy revealed infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells but not amyloid deposit. Serum M protein and urine Bence-Jones protein were not detected. These cases represent localized amyloidosis without systemic involvement. It is widely recognized that Sj?gren's syndrome is frequently accompanied by B cell lymphoproliferative disorders. In LCNA, infiltration of plasma cells around the amyloid deposits was frequently prominent. The relation between these two disorders is discussed.  相似文献

We have reexamined the contradictory evidence in which task-dependent excitation of motor evoked potentials (MEPs) in the first dorsal interosseous (FDI) muscle was stronger with increasingly more complex finger tasks than with individual finger movement tasks. In the first step of the experiment, based on previous findings, we investigated remarkable functional differences between intrinsic and extrinsic hand muscles during complex finger tasks (precision and power grip). During the performance of the tasks, the optimal stimulus intensity of the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was applied to the contralateral motor cortex. MEPs of the FDI, extensor carpi radialis (ECR), and flexor carpi radialis (FCR) muscles were recorded simultaneously with increased background EMG activity step by step in both tasks. The intensity threshold of TMS was lower in the precision grip. Furthermore, the MEP amplitudes of FDI muscle dependent on the background EMG activity were different between these two tasks, i.e., MEP amplitudes and regression coefficients in a precision grip were larger than those in a power grip. Although our results for MEP amplitude and threshold in the FDI muscle were similar to previous reported evidence, the different contributions of a synergistic muscle (in particular, the ECR muscle) during performance in these tasks was new evidence. Since there were no differences in cutaneous afferent effects on both tasks, corticomotoneuronal (CM) cells connected to FDI motoneurons seemed generally to be more active during precision than power gripping, and there were different contributions from synergistic muscles during the performance of these tasks. In the second part of the experiment, the results obtained from the complex tasks were compared with those from a simple task (isolated index finger flexion). MEP amplitudes, dependent on the background EMG activity during isolated index finger flexion, varied among subjects, i.e., the relationship between the MEP amplitude and the background EMG of the FDI muscle showed individual, strategy-dependent modulation. There were several kinds of individual motor strategies for performing the isolated finger movement. The present results may explain the previous contradictory evidence related to the contribution of the CM system during coordinated finger movement.  相似文献

Despite a multitude of reports on the classification and distribution of anterior pituitary cells, no previous study has attempted to obtain the three-dimensional (3D) and computer-graphic distribution pattern of each cell type in the whole pituitary. Therefore, we mapped the anterior pituitary cells of the house musk shrew ( Suncus murinus) and found a distinct cellular distribution pattern. Serial horizontal sections of whole shrew pituitaries were stained immunohistochemically for prolactin (PRL), growth hormone (GH), and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) cells. The contours of positive cells and the anterior, intermediate, and posterior lobes in each section were digitized for 3D visualization by a volume rendering method. The reconstructed images and virtual frontal and sagittal slices were examined in detail. On the 3D reconstructed images, the PRL and GH cells had similar distribution patterns, although the former were concentrated in the dorsolateral and ventrocentral portions, and the latter in the dorsocentral portions of the anterior lobe. On both sides of the pituitary stalk, there lay portions that were conspicuous by scarcity of PRL and GH cells. ACTH cells were widely scattered throughout the whole anterior lobe, but they were very few in the above portions and the dorsocentral portions where GH cells were concentrated. No sex difference in the distribution patterns of each cell type was observed. However, PRL cells in females were more numerous than in males, whereas the opposite was true for GH and ACTH cells. We discuss the relationship between the formation of the spatial distribution patterns and anterior pituitary ontogeny.  相似文献

Ceftizoxime suppository (CZX-S) was given to 6 patients, with the following results. The peak serum concentration of CZX was 1.8-7.5 micrograms/ml at 30 minutes after dosing of CZX-S with 9.6-16.7 mg/kg. The antibacterial activity of CZX revealed that the drug can be expected to be effective sufficiently. The overall effect of CZX-S was "markedly improved" in 1 and "moderately improved" in 3 of the 4 patients with pneumonia and "markedly improved" in 1 and "slightly improved" in 1 of the 2 with UTI. CZX-S caused a slight increase in frequency of defecation in 2 of the 6 patients. There were no abnormal findings of symptoms or laboratory test values which were ascribable to side effects.  相似文献

ObjectivesWe aimed to evaluate the effect of frailty on health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) and lower urinary symptoms (LUTS) following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in patients with prostate cancer (CaP).Materials and MethodsWe longitudinally evaluated geriatric 8 (G8), HRQOL, and LUTS for 12 months in 118 patients with RARP from January 2017 to April 2020. Patients were divided into frail (G8 ≤14) and nonfrail (G8 >14) groups. We compared the effect of frailty on HRQOL and LUTS between the frail and nonfrail groups before and 12 months after RARP.ResultsThe median age of patients was 68 years. The number of patients in the frail and nonfrail groups were 41 and 77, respectively. No significant difference in patients’ background was observed between the groups, except for the presence of cardiovascular disease (22% vs. 7.8%, P = 0.041). There was no significant difference in HRQOLs and LUTS between the groups at baseline. Similarly, HRQOLs, LUTS, and pad-free continence rates were not significantly different between the groups at 12 months after RARP. In the nonfrail group, LUTS at 12 months following RARP significantly improved compared to those at the baseline, but it did not significantly improve in the frail group. Multivariable logistic regression analysis demonstrated that frailty was not significantly associated with LUTS worsening.ConclusionsFrailty was not significantly associated with the worsening of HRQOL, LUTS, and pad-free continence rates in patients treated with RARP.  相似文献
