Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) is an uncommon lesion which may form a tumor-like mass in inflamed gallbladders. In a review of 44 cases there were 40 associated with gallstones which had been incarcerated in the neck of the gallbladder, 10 with past histories of abdominal surgeries, 15 with diabetes mellitus, three with carcinomas in the neck of the gallbladder and four with carcinomas in the other organs. Radiologically the differential diagnosis of gallbladder cancer and XGC was difficult in several cases. Thirty five cases of XGC have been diagnosed as chronic cholecystitis and 7 have been mistaken for feature of XGC in the contrast enhancement CT that is, detection of an intramural low density mass with continuously enhanced internal membraneous layer of the gallbladder wall. In view of the clinico-pathological findings of XGC, the lesions appear to result from intramural extravasation of bile and subsequent xanthogranulomatous reaction under obstructive conditions in the neck of the gallbladder. We conclude that XGC is not an uncommon special type of cholecystitis but an accompanied lesion sometimes seen in a kind of cholecystitis.  相似文献

The effect of iodine-enriched egg (IE-egg) on nasal allergy was investigated using an experimental allergic model. In addition, the effect of IE-egg was investigated using patients with yearly nasal allergy. IE-egg could suppress the leakage of pontamine sky blue dye in the experimental allergic model. beta-Glucuronidase activity in the perfusate was suppressed with the ingestion of IE-egg. The symptoms of the patients with yearly nasal allergy were mitigated by the ingestion of IE-egg. beta-Glucuronidase activity in the pituita of nasal allergic patients tended to be decreased.  相似文献

The authors present the first reported case of a glioma associated with a right posterior cerebral artery (PCA) aneurysm. A 37-year-old male underwent craniotomy and total removal of the glioma, which appeared, according to encephalographic findings, to be responsible for the initial symptom of loss of consciousness. The risk of craniotomy-induced bleeding from the aneurysm was thought to be low, since it was unruptured and was packed with coagulum. However, subarachnoid hemorrhage due to rupture of the PCA aneurysm occurred just after craniotomy, and clipping was performed 15 days after the first operation.  相似文献

We have studied the kinetics and specificity of the cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response to influenza A/PR/8 (H1N1) virus pulmonary infection in the mouse detected using spleen cells from infected mice which were stimulated in bulk and limiting dilution cultures. A hybrid protein designated D-peptide, which contains the terminal 157 amino acids of the HA2 subunit of A/PR/8 virus, was used to stimulate influenza virus subtype-specific secondary CTL in vitro. Infection induced two specificities of precursor CTL, cross-reactive and subtype-specific. The kinetics of the subtype-specific CTL response detected by the D-peptide were similar to the cross-reactive CTL response detected by stimulation with live virus. The majority of the precursor CTL (CTL-p) are able to lyse virus-infected target cells in a cross-reactive fashion. The number of memory subtype-specific and cross-reactive CTL increased by approximately 2.5 logs10 during the first 3 weeks after infection.  相似文献

Aquaporins (AQPs) confer a high water permeability on cell membranes and play important parts in secretory and absorptive epithelia in kidney and other organs. Here we investigate whether AQPs are expressed in the sensory epithelia of the inner ear, where a precise volume regulation is crucial. By use of specific antibodies it was found that the inner ear contains AQP1 and 4 while being devoid of detectable levels of AQP2, 3 or 5. Immunofluorescence and postembedding immunogold labelling revealed a strictly non-epithelial distribution of AQP1, confirming previous data. In contrast, AQP4 protein and mRNA (visualized by in situ hybridization) were concentrated in select types of supporting cell, including Hensen's cells and inner sulcus cells. Immunogold particles signalling AQP4 were confined to the basolateral plasma membrane of Hensen's cells and to the basal plasma membrane of Claudius cells and inner sulcus cells. AQP4 was also found in supporting cells of the vestibular end organs, but was absent from transitional epithelial cells and dark cells. Strong labelling for AQP4 and AQP4-mRNA was associated with the central part of the cochlear and vestibular nerves. Hair cells were consistently unlabelled. Our findings indicate that AQP4 may facilitate osmotically driven water fluxes in the sensory epithelia of the inner ear and thus contribute to the volume and ion homeostasis at these sites.  相似文献

The localization and distribution of nitric oxide synthase in the hypothalamus have been studied with an immunohistochemical technique using antibodies to neuronal rat nitric oxide synthase. Subsequent double-labeling experiments examined the colocalization patterns of nitric oxide synthase and several peptides. Our results demonstrate a widespread occurrence of nitric oxide synthase-immunoreactive nerve cell bodies and processes throughout the hypothalamus, especially in various parts of the preoptic region, in the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei, the lateral hypothalamic area, the ventromedial and dorsomedial nuclei, the arcuate nucleus and various parts of the mammillary region. Double labeling experiments showed that nitric oxide synthase-like immunoreactivity coexists with substance P-like immunoreactivity in the medial preoptic area, with oxytocin-, cholecystokinin- and galanin message-associated peptide-like immunoreactivity in the supraoptic nucleus, with enkephalin-, oxytocin- and corticotropin releasing factor-like immunoreactivity in the paraventricular nucleus and with enkephalin-like immunoreactivity in the arcuate nucleus. Furthermore, in the ventromedial nucleus, nitric oxide synthase-like immunoreactivity coexisted with enkephalin-, substance P-, and somatostatin-like immunoreactivity, and in the dorsomedial nucleus with enkephalin-, galanin message-associated peptide- and substance P-like immunoreactivity. In the mammillary region nitric oxide synthase-like immunoreactivity coexisted with enkephalin-, cholecystokinin-, and substance P-like immunoreactivity. Among these neuropeptides, enkephalin and substance P were most frequently found in nitric oxide synthase-immunoreactive neurons. We conclude that nitric oxide synthase-immunoreactive neurons contain neuropeptides in various parts of the hypothalamus, and that nitric oxide in the hypothalamus may be involved in a variety of neuroendocrine and autonomic functions.  相似文献

A neuropathological study on 1540 consecutive autopsy brains ranging from 60 to 107 years of age revealed the following points. (1) Of the of the demented cases of the plaque-predominant type, 93% were complicated with multiple tiny cortical infarcts. They showed a tendency for dementia to develop before or after the appearance or worsening of a systemic disorder such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory infection and cancer. However, there was no case showing Alzheimer-type dementia (ATD). (2) The plaque-predominant type might be an extreme condition of brain aging in terms of senile plaques (SP). It is likely that although the pathological appearance of SP alone is not responsible for dementia, its coexistence with multiple cortical infarcts could be the cause of dementia. Therefore, this type should be distinguished from ATD. (3) Primary hippocampal degeneration could also be an extreme condition of brain aging in terms of neurofibrillary tangles. This condition was different pathologically from the hippocampal lesion in ATD. (4) Several characteristics of old-old and oldest-old patients were clarified.  相似文献
