A 77-year-old man was found to have an abnormal shadow on chest X-ray. Chest CT indicated four lesions in both lungs. One was located in the left S1+2. The others were located in the left S3, right S8 and S9, and those had cyst-like structures. The tumor in S1+2 showed diffuse proliferation of atypical lymphocytes, which were positive for CD20. The diagnosis of pulmonary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma was made. The tumor in S3 was composed of eosinophilic amorphous deposits. The diagnosis of amyloidosis was confirmed by polarized light examination. After oxidation with permanganate solution, the Congo red staining disappeared.  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Relationships between chronic liver disease and trace metals have not been clearly understood. To examine connections between severity of hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C and copper, iron and zinc we measured the contents of these metals in liver tissue and serum in the patients. METHODS: Forty-one patients (26-62 years), 13 with fibrosis representing grade F1, 16 with F2, seven with F3, and five with F4, entered this study. Metals were quantified in needle liver-biopsy specimens by particle-induced X-ray emission. In serum, metals were measured by flameless atomic absorption spectrometry. RESULTS: Hepatic copper content increased with progression of hepatic fibrosis (P < 0.05). The copper content correlated positively with bilirubin (r = 0.466, P = 0.0023), and with type IV collagen (r = 0.402, P = 0.0086) and correlated negatively with albumin (r = -0.404, P = 0.080). However, hepatic iron and zinc contents did not show a significant differences between grades of fibrosis. CONCLUSIONS: Copper accumulation in fibrotic livers caused by chronic hepatitis C may contribute to hepatic injury. The real mechanism is not known at present, but excess copper may damage the liver by oxidative stress.  相似文献

In this study, we theoretically investigate the aromatic and open-shell characteristics of carbon nanobelts (CNBs) composed of five- and six-membered rings. We have designed nanobelts composed of indeno[1,2-b]fluorene ([1,2-b]IF) units, which are referred to as [N]IF-CNB (N: the number of five-membered rings). The number of π-electrons, nπ, in neutral [N]IF-CNB is 7N, and thus depending on N and charge states, nπ can be 4n + 2 and 4n. Quantum chemical calculations on neutral [6]IF-CNB and [8]IF-CNB and dicationic [8]IF-CNB2+ have revealed that they are expected to exhibit unique aromatic and open-shell characteristics depending on nπ, there are several analogies of the electronic structures in [N]IF-CNB to those in [N]annulene. Delocalized and intermediate open-shell electronic structures of [N]IF-CNB are also useful to drastically change the third-order nonlinear optical properties. These results suggest that theoretically designed [N]IF-CNB can be attractive and challenging targets of organic synthesis for realizing novel open-shell functional conjugated macrocycles.

Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase consists of large subunits (LS) and small subunits. In plants, the LS is encoded in chloroplast DNA and the small subunit, in nuclear DNA. In cyanobacteria, both subunits are thought to be encoded in chromosomal DNA because of prokaryotes. The gene for the LS of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase from a cyanobacterium, Anacystis nidulans 6301, has been cloned in pBR322 and subjected to sequence analysis. The coding region contains 1,416 base pairs (472 codons). The deduced amino acid sequence of A. nidulans LS protein shows 80% homology with sequences of maize, spinach, and tobacco LS proteins; the nucleotide sequence of A. nidulans LS gene shows 70% homology with sequences of the plant genes. Between A. nidulans LS and the plant LS proteins there is exact sequence homology around the lysine residue to which the activator CO2 binds and around the two lysine residues to which ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate binds. The amino acid sequence where the LS binds to the small subunit is also highly conserved. From comparison of the LS proteins of A. nidulans and the three plants, the rate of amino acid substitution is estimated to be 0.25-0.5 × 10-9 per year per site, which is far below the median value of various types of proteins (1.2 × 10-9 for hemoglobin α). The LS protein is thus a conserved protein.  相似文献

[Purpose] The difficulty levels of level-2 OSCE (examination and measurement skills) items were examined, with a view to providing reference data for the determination of students’ skills. [Subjects] A total of 284 graduates of physical (PT) and occupational (OT) therapy classes of 2011 (59 and 40), 2012 (46 and 36), and 2013 (61 and 42, respectively) were studied, with PT or OT faculty members as OSCE examiners and a simulated patient. [Methods] Scores for 11 level-2 OSCE items were compared between before and after clinical training. [Results] Scores markedly increased after clinical training. On comparison among the items, scores for sensory examination were the highest, and those for interviews were the lowest. [Conclusion] The results of this study indicate the necessity of considering an appropriate combination of different difficulty levels when adopting OSCE-based educational approaches.Key words: OSCE, Clinical skill, Physical and occupational therapists  相似文献
