Background
Indian medicinal plants used in the Ayurvedic traditional system to treat diabetes are a valuable source of novel anti-diabetic agents. Pancreatic α-amylase inhibitors offer an effective strategy to lower the levels of post-prandial hyperglycemia via control of starch breakdown. In this study, seventeen Indian medicinal plants with known hypoglycemic properties were subjected to sequential solvent extraction and tested for α-amylase inhibition, in order to assess and evaluate their inhibitory potential on PPA (porcine pancreatic α-amylase). Autoimmune hemolytic anaemia (AIHA) has traditionally been classified based on the temperature sensitivity of the autoagglutinins as warm (WAIHA), cold (CAIHA) and mixed type. Autoagglutinin may be of IgG or IgM type. The present prospective study was conducted to evaluate the profile of clinical picture, severity of haemolysis, treatment response of steroid. This study on patients of adult primary AIHA was conducted by taking complete history followed by detail physical examination. Laboratory investigations were performed to establish haemolytic anaemia and to assess severity of haemolysis. Immunehematological work up including blood grouping, direct antiglobulin test (DAT), IAT, antibody screening, adsorption elution was performed to diagnose type of AIHA. All cases were followed up to assess the response to prednisolone. All the data were collected and analysed by SPSS 19. Out of 62 primary AIHA cases, female were affected more than male (41:21). WAIHA is most common type (42, 67.8%) followed by mixed (20.9%) and cold AIHA (11.3%). Severity of haemolysis showed significant correlation with the DAT strength and not with type of AIHA. (P < 0.05) On oral prednisolone, 22 cases attended complete remission, while relapse, drug dependency and partial remission was achieved in 13, 9, 3 cases respectively. Severity of haemolysis in AIHA is directly related with DAT strength. WAIHA is most common type and can be managed with oral prednisolone (cr 45.2%), without red cell transfusion in most of cases. Mixed type AIHA cases were presented mostly with severe haemolysis, with minimum therapeutic response to prednisolone and maximum relapse/drug dependency. 相似文献

the efficacy of IGF-1, dynorphin B, insulin, oxytocin, bFGF, and TGF-β1 in inducing cardiomyogenic differentiation. Adult
mouse skeletal muscle-derived Sca1+/CD45-/c-kit-/Thy-1+ (SM+) and Sca1-/CD45-/c-kit-/Thy-1+ (SM-) cells were cultured in basic
medium (BM; DMEM, FBS, IGF-1, dynorphin B) alone and BM supplemented with insulin, oxytocin, bFGF, or TGF-β1. Cardiac differentiation
was evaluated by the expression of cardiac-specific markers at the mRNA (qRT-PCR) and protein (immunocytochemistry) levels.
BM+TGF-β1 upregulated mRNA expression of Nkx2.5 and GATA-4 after 4 days and Myl2 after 9 days. After 30 days, BM+TGF-β1 induced the greatest extent of cardiac differentiation (by morphology
and expression of cardiac markers) in SM- cells. We conclude that TGF-β1 enhances cardiomyogenic differentiation in skeletal
muscle-derived adult primitive cells. This strategy may be utilized to induce cardiac differentiation as well as to examine
the cardiomyogenic potential of adult tissue-derived stem/progenitor cells.

CD4+ T follicular helper (TFH) cells are central for generation of long‐term B‐cell immunity. A defining phenotypic attribute of TFH cells is the expression of the chemokine R CXCR5, and TFH cells are typically identified by co‐expression of CXCR5 together with other markers such as PD‐1, ICOS, and Bcl‐6. Herein, we report high‐level expression of the nutrient transporter folate R 4 (FR4) on TFH cells in acute viral infection. Distinct from the expression profile of conventional TFH markers, FR4 was highly expressed by naive CD4+ T cells, was downregulated after activation and subsequently re‐expressed on TFH cells. Furthermore, FR4 expression was maintained, albeit at lower levels, on memory TFH cells. Comparative gene expression profiling of FR4hi versus FR4lo Ag‐specific CD4+ effector T cells revealed a molecular signature consistent with TFH and TH1 subsets, respectively. Interestingly, genes involved in the purine metabolic pathway, including the ecto‐enzyme CD73, were enriched in TFH cells compared with TH1 cells, and phenotypic analysis confirmed expression of CD73 on TFH cells. As there is now considerable interest in developing vaccines that would induce optimal TFH cell responses, the identification of two novel cell surface markers should be useful in characterization and identification of TFH cells following vaccination and infection. 相似文献

Corpus luteum rupture presenting as acute abdomen is an underdiagnosed condition. Though a self-limiting entity, its differentiation from other causes is essential to prevent unnecessary surgical procedures. The radiologist should be aware of the possibility of a ruptured haemorrhagic ovarian cyst in a female of reproductive age group presenting with pelvic pain and a large amount of haemorrhagic ascites. Imaging characteristically reveals a thick-walled cystic structure in the adnexa with internal echoes, focal discontinuity or irregularity of its wall with haemoperitoneum.
