The synthesis of novel telechelic monodispersed diols produced from the radical monoaddition of an excess of 10-undecenol with novel α, ω-dithiols, initiated by peroxides, is presented. The telechelic dithiols employed were prepared from nonconjugated dienes and a commercially available dithiol, or by esterification of adipic acid with 2-mercaptoethanol. From these dithiols, the diols were selectively obtained in high yields. Such α, ω-dihydroxylated compounds were characterized by both 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The diol which exhibits the ester functions shows excellent solubility in common organic solvents contrarily to the other ones. The physical properties (Tg, Tm and decomposition temperatures) of these diols were compared and it is noted that the thermostability of these monodispersed telechelic diols is much better than those of the polydispersed commercially available ones such as poly(ethylene glycol)s or poly(tetramethylene glycol)s. 相似文献

Two methods of estimating body heat storage were compared under differing conditions of clothing, training, and acclimation to heat. Six male subjects underwent 8 weeks of physical training [60–80% of maximal aerobic power (

Before and after each treatment, subjects walked continuously on a treadmill (1.34 m · s–1, 2% grade) in a climatic chamber (40°C db, 30% relative humidity) for an average of 118 min (range 92–120 min) when wearing normal light combat clothing and for an average of 50 min (range 32–68 min) when wearing protective clothing resistant to nuclear, biological, and chemical agents. Molecular targeting with exogenous near-infrared excitable fluorescent agents using time-dependent imaging techniques may enable diagnostic imaging of breast cancer and prognostic imaging of sentinel lymph nodes within the breast. However, prior to the administration of unproven contrast agents, phantom studies on clinically relevant volumes are essential to assess the benefits of fluorescence-enhanced optical imaging in humans. Diagnostic 3-D fluorescence-enhanced optical tomography is demonstrated using 0.5 to 1 cm(3) single and multiple targets differentiated from their surroundings by indocyanine green (micromolar) in a breast-shaped phantom (10-cm diameter). Fluorescence measurements of referenced ac intensity and phase shift were acquired in response to point illumination measurement geometry using a homodyned intensified charge-coupled device system modulated at 100 MHz. Bayesian reconstructions show artifact-free 3-D images (3857 unknowns) from 3-D boundary surface measurements (126 to 439). In a reflectance geometry appropriate for prognostic imaging of lymph node involvement, fluorescence measurements were likewise acquired from the surface of a semi-infinite phantom (8x8x8 cm(3)) in response to area illumination (12 cm(2)) by excitation light. Tomographic 3-D reconstructions (24,123 unknowns) were recovered from 2-D boundary surface measurements (3194) using the modified truncated Newton's method. This report describes a spectrum of respiratory symptoms in workers exposed to trimellitic anhydride (TMA), a biologically reactive chemical used in the plastics industry. Fourteen workers who had worked on a unit which synthesized TMA were evaluated by clinical and immunologic methods. Respiratory syndromes induced by TMA inhalation included asthma and rhinitis of the immediate type, late onset asthma with systemic symptoms, and airway irritation. TMA was shown to couple rapidly to human serum albumin, forming an immunoreactive hapten-protein complex. The workers' immunologic reactivity to this complex could be quantitated and correlated with the three respiratory syndromes. The asthma-rhinitis syndrome was mediated by IgE antibody specific for the TMA hapten. The syndrome of late onset asthma with systemic symptoms was accompanied by elevated levels of TMA-specific IgG antibody. Rheumatoid factor in high titer was found in one worker with IgE-mediated asthma and in two workers with asthma of late onset. Lymphocyte reactivity of TMA-HSA was demonstrated in three workers representative of the three clinical syndromes. Leukocyte histamine release was demonstrated to TMA-HSA in one worker with high levels of IgE antibody specific for TMA-HSA who had severe symptoms of acute rhinitis and asthma. 相似文献

Inhaled trimellitic anhydride (TMA) reacts with airway proteins to produce trimellityl (TM) proteins. The TM-proteins result in both systemic and local immune responses, of which various proteins present in the airway can be used for markers. Thus TM-human serum albumin (HSA), TM-IgG, and TM-IgA can be used as hapten-protein complexes for immunologic studies in sera of humans exposed to TMA by inhalation. Various immunologic assays have been established to measure antibodies against TM-proteins and have various purposes. With TM-HSA as a model antigen, total serum antibody may be measured by the ammonium sulfate technique of coprecipitation of TM-125I HSA. By solid-phase radioimmunoassays, IgE, IgG, IgA, and IgM antibodies can be measured. Lymphocyte reactivity can be measured by 3H thymidine uptake of TM-protein-stimulated lymphocytes. Biologic effects of IgE antibody can be measured by allergy skin tests and leukocyte histamine release with TM-proteins such as TM-HSA. The reaction of TMA with proteins results in alteration of those proteins that include changes in charge and physical conformation, the latter resulting in an apparent change in molecular size. These changes may relate to the observations that human antibody is not merely directed against the hapten in the hapten-human protein complex but also against new antigenic determinants formed by the TM-protein complex. Correlations have been made with certain human immunologic responses and lung disease after TMA inhalation, as follows: IgE antibody against TM-proteins correlates with TMA-induced rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma; high levels of total antibody, IgG, and IgA antibody appear to correlate with the late respiratory systemic syndrome, probably a variant of hypersensitivity pneumonitis; workers exposed to TMA fumes (rather than TMA powder) have the highest levels of antibody, and this may correlate with occurrence of the hemorrhagic pneumonitis seen in this group of workers; patients with no symptoms or mild irritative symptoms have the lowest or no antibody levels.
