Our aim in this cross-sectional study was to assess the cognitive determinants of Cervical Cancer Screening Behavior (CCSB) among housewife women in Islamabad County, Iran. Through multistage random sampling we recruited and interviewed 280 housewife women. The women who perceived more benefits of performing the Pap test (OR = 1.11), and perceived fewer barriers (OR = 0.915), and higher self-efficacy to perform the test (OR = 1.12) were more likely to have a CCSB in the previous three years. Accurate diagnosis of splenic diseases is important for timely and accurate treatment. The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and conventional ultrasound (US) in detecting splenic lesions. A systematic literature search was undertaken, and 8 studies met the inclusion criteria. The sensitivity and specificity of the consolidated results of CEUS were 0.95 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.92–0.97) and 0.97 (95% CI, 0.90–0.99), respectively (I2 = 27.4%; area under the curve [AUC] from a summary receiver operating characteristic curve = 0.97). The sensitivity and specificity of the consolidated results of conventional US were 0.70 (95% CI, 0.56–0.80) and 0.96 (95% CI, 0.76–0.99; I2 = 83.4%; AUC = 0.84). In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the sensitivity and specificity of CEUS were higher than those of conventional US in diagnosing splenic lesions. Until recently, all known antipsychotic drugs were thought to block the dopamine D2 receptor. New evidence that agonists of the metabotropic glutamate 2/3 (mGlu2/3) receptors ameliorate psychotic and affective symptoms of schizophrenia suggests that compounds with different molecular targets may act on a common cellular target to treat schizophrenia. We hypothesized that normalizing the activity of neurons in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), a region that is increasingly implicated in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, presents such a target. We disrupted OFC activity in behaving rats with a use-dependent NMDA antagonist to model the NMDA hypofunction state that may occur in schizophrenia. This systemic treatment increased the activity of most pyramidal cells while inhibiting the activity of putative inhibitory GABA interneurons and increasing behavioral stereotypy. A similar pattern of OFC firing disruption was observed after amphetamine, which models a dopamine hyperactivity state in schizophrenia and which produces a pattern of firing disruption different from those of NMDA antagonists in other prefrontal cortex regions. Antipsychotic drugs haloperidol and clozapine, which target monoamine receptors, as well as an mGlu2/3 agonist and an mGlu5 receptor modulator proposed to have antipsychotic efficacy, reversed the impact of NMDA hypofunction on OFC cells and on behavior. A similar pattern of normalization of OFC activity was observed when treatments were given after amphetamine. Thus, proven or putative antipsychotic drugs with different mechanisms of action similarly reduced the impact of NMDA hypofunction and dopamine hyperfunction on OFC neurons, suggesting that these neurons are a candidate target for the therapeutic effects of antipsychotic medications. 相似文献

Background: Restoration of spontaneous circulation after cardiopulmonary resuscitation in cardiac arrest patients does not always signal a completely successful outcome. Functional deficiencies of the nervous system are found in many survivors of cardiac arrest. Objectives: To study the effects of dopamine-induced elevated blood pressure on the hemodynamics, oxygen metabolism, and cerebral resuscitation in different perfusion conditions in a resuscitated animal model. Methods: There were 18 pigs included in the study. Ventricular fibrillation (VF) was induced with a programmed electrical stimulation device. After 4 min of untreated ventricular fibrillation followed by 9 min of CPR, 12 animals were resuscitated successfully, and were then randomly assigned to either the study group (dopamine group) or the control group (normal perfusion group). All animals in the two groups received normal saline through continuous intravenous guttae for 4 h at a rate of 15 mL/kg/h. In the study group, dopamine was added to raise the animals' blood pressure. Four hours of intensive monitoring was performed for all study animals. Finally, 24-h evaluation of neurological function was conducted in surviving animals in accordance with the standard of the Cerebral Performance Category Score. Results: In animals in the dopamine group, the cardiac output, mean aortic pressure, coronary perfusion pressure, oxygen delivery, and oxygen consumption were higher than those found in the animals in the normal perfusion group (p < 0.05). Oxygen metabolism was remarkably improved in animals in the dopamine group. Furthermore, cerebral perfusion was better in the dopamine group than in the control group and thus, results of the evaluation of nervous system function were better in animals treated with dopamine (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Dopamine improved systemic perfusion, cerebral blood supply, and oxygen metabolism after successful resuscitation from VF in a porcine model.
