Herein, a novel designed heterogeneous catalytic system constructed of volcanic pumice magnetic particles (VPMPs), cellulose (CLS) as a natural polymeric matrix, and copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) is presented. Also, to enhance the inherent magnetic property of VPMP, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have been prepared and incorporated in the structure via an in situ process. As its first and foremost excellent property, the designed composite is in great accordance with green chemistry principles because it contains natural ingredients. Another brilliant point in the architecture of the designed composite is the noticeable porosity of VPMP as the core of the composite structure (surface area: 84.473 m2 g−1). This great porosity leads to the use of a small amount (0.05 g) of the particles for catalytic purposes. However, the main characterization methods, such as Fourier-transform infrared and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and electron microscopy, revealed that the spherical metallic particles (Fe and Cu oxides) were successfully distributed onto the surface of the VPMP and CLS matrices. Further, vibrating-sample magnetometer analysis confirmed the enhancement of the magnetic property (1.5 emu g−1) of the composite through the addition of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Further, the prepared (Fe3O4@VPMP/CLS–Cu) nanocomposite has been applied to facilitate the reduction reaction of hazardous nitrobenzene derivatives (NBDs) to their aniline analogs, with 98% conversion efficiency in eight minutes under mild conditions. Moreover, the good reusability of the catalytic system has been verified after recycling it ten times without any significant decrease in the performance.

The nanocomposites of LiCoO2/Fe3O4/Li2B2O4 were designed by the Pechini route using different fuels for the optimization of their morphology and structure. Compared to other fuels, citric acid can act as both an ideal fuel and a capping agent. The ratio of the EG : H2O mixture is another parameter, which was studied in terms of its effects on the structural characterization. The optimized sample with a rod shape was selected to compare with the bulk sample through electrochemical hydrogen storage capacity. The discharge capacity for rod-shaped nanocomposites measured was 1284 mA h g−1. However, the discharge capacity for the bulk morphology was calculated to be about 694 mA h g−1. The magnetic, electrochemical and structural analyses were performed to investigate the properties of LiCoO2/Fe3O4/Li2B2O4 nanocomposites.

To the best of our knowledge, for the first time, the effects of LiCoO2/Fe3O4/Li2B2O4 nanocomposites as a favorable hydrogen capacitor were investigated to enhance hydrogen storage performance.  相似文献

We report a case of lophomoniasis in a kidney post‐transplantation patient. The patient, 46‐year‐old man, had pneumonia, acute sinusitis, and tonsillitis on admission. We recommend that lophomoniasis should be essentially ruled out in all patients suffering from post‐transplantation infection, particularly in those who do not respond to routine antibiotic regimens.  相似文献

Polylactide (PLA) is the most widely used biopolymer, but its poor ductility and scarce gas barrier properties limit its applications in the packaging field. In this work, for the first time, the properties of PLA solvent-cast films are improved by the addition of a second biopolymer, i.e., poly(decamethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate) (PDeF), added in a weight fraction of 10 wt%, and a carbon-based nanofiller, i.e., reduced graphene oxide (rGO), added in concentrations of 0.25–2 phr. PLA and PDeF are immiscible, as evidenced by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, with PDeF spheroidal domains showing poor adhesion to PLA. The addition of 0.25 phr of rGO, which preferentially segregates in the PDeF domains, makes them smaller and considerably rougher and improves the interfacial interaction. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) confirms the immiscibility of the two polymer phases and highlights that rGO enhances the crystallinity of both polymer phases (especially of PDeF). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) highlights the positive impact of rGO and PDeF on the thermal degradation resistance of PLA. Quasi-static tensile tests evidence that adding 10 wt% of PDeF and a small fraction of rGO (0.25 phr) to PLA considerably enhances the strain at break, which raises from 5.3% of neat PLA to 10.0% by adding 10 wt% of PDeF, up to 75.8% by adding also 0.25 phr of rGO, thereby highlighting the compatibilizing role of rGO on this blend. On the other hand, a further increase in rGO concentration decreases the strain at break due to agglomeration but enhances the mechanical stiffness and strength up to an rGO concentration of 1 phr. Overall, these results highlight the positive and synergistic contribution of PDeF and rGO in enhancing the thermomechanical properties of PLA, and the resulting nanocomposites are promising for packaging applications.  相似文献

Ethnopharmacological relevance

The article presents the local knowledge on medicinal plants and their relevance in managing health problems. Important ethnobotanical leads are given with priority species and disease categories, casting insight on future phytochemical and pharmacological studies.

Aim of the study

The use of traditional medicinal plants has been an integral part of the traditional healthcare systems in Djibouti. However, scientific studies on the traditional herbal healing systems of the various cultural groups have never been undertaken. This study has, therefore, aimed at assessing plant-related ethnomedicinal knowledge of the people in Randa Region; prioritising the plants with respect to common disease categories and inferring about prospects of new pharmacological products.

Materials and methods

Interview-based ethnobotanical field study was carried out to document the plant-based ethnomedicinal knowledge handed down to the present by the oral tradition of people living in 24 villages in Tadjourah District of Randa Region (north Djibouti). Informant Consensus Factors (ICF) and Fidelity Level (FL) values of the medicinal plants were calculated to check the level of informant agreement and the healing potentials of the species.

Results

A total of 91 plant species that belong to 72 genera and 40 families were documented. Most of these species (92%) were collected from non-cultivated areas. Their local names and traditional uses in medicine were also studied. The plant family Fabaceae was represented by the highest number of taxa (17 species). Strong informant agreements hinted at good healing potentials of some species as shown by high values of consensus factors for eye diseases (0.98), mouth diseases (0.93), kidney problems (0.89) and microbial infections (0.84). Dodonea angustifolia, Solanum cordatum, Grewia erythraea, Acalypha indica, Acacia etbaica, Fagonia schweinfurthii, Solanum coagulans, Senna alexandrina and Grewia tembensis scored high FL values emerging as promising priority species for future pharmacological screening against microbial infections.

Conclusion

The results of this study may inspire further ethnobotanical and ethnopharmacological research and investigations toward drug discovery in Djibouti and beyond.  相似文献

Aim. Lennox‐Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is characterized by interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) occurring during sleep. The aim of this study was to determine whether sleep influences not only the frequency of seizures and IEDs, but also the time‐dependent evolution that may support the hypothesis of homeostatic influences on epileptic threshold. Methods. Video polysomnography data from our database were reviewed to identify adult LGS patients with at least seven hours of nocturnal recording. Thirteen patients were identified and a second polysomnography was available for nine. The number, duration and index of IEDs, relative to total sleep, sleep stages, and time during the night, were calculated. Results. The majority of IEDs occurred during non‐rapid eye movement sleep, mainly in stage 2 and slow‐wave sleep. Adjusting for time spent in each sleep stage, we found 45 IEDs/hour in stage 1, 123/hour in stage 2, 106/hour in slow‐wave sleep, and 26/hour in rapid eye movement sleep. The temporal distribution of IEDs showed a significant rise in the first three hours of sleep, followed by a progressive decrease at the end of the night (F=85.6; p<0.0001). Conclusion. Interictal epileptiform discharges occurrence in adult LGS is facilitated by non‐rapid eye movement sleep with an evident effect of stage 2 and slow‐wave sleep. The significant IED occurrence in the first part of the night and the subsequent decline suggests a link between epileptic threshold and homeostatic sleep mechanisms. The latter should be considered regarding choice of therapy.  相似文献

An efficient metal-free synthesis strategy of benzoxazoles was developed via coupling catechols, ammonium acetate, and alkenes/alkynes/ketones. The developed methodology represents an operationally simple, one-pot and large-scale procedure for the preparation of benzoxazole derivatives using molecular iodine as the catalyst.

A metal-free one-pot multi-component method for the efficient synthesis of 2-aryl benzoxazoles via coupling of catechols, ammonium acetate and alkenes/alkynes/ketones using an I2–DMSO catalyst system is illustrated.  相似文献

The performance of asphalt binder reinforced with waste plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was investigated. Penetration, ductility, softening point, and rotational viscosity tests were conducted to check the performance of the PET-reinforced pavement. The rheological properties of the binder were determined using amplitude sweep and frequency sweep tests and performance grade (PG) measurements of aged and unaged specimens. PET size, mix mechanism, and mix temperature significantly influenced the physical properties of the AB and the penetration index (PI). The size and content of PET had pronounced effects on the PI and softening point than the blending temperature. Increasing the size of PET particles from 75 to 150 μm and the content from 0% to 10% of the bitumen resulted in the reduction of the penetration and ductility values from 96 to 85 mm and 100 to 78 cm, respectively, whereas the softening point increased from 46 to 56.6 °C. As a result, the PI value of the binder increased, which indicates that the temperature susceptibility was improved. The addition of 10% PET increased the viscosity of the baseline bitumen by threefold upto a temperature of 135 °C and dropped it by fourfold when the temperature was raised to 165 °C. Increasing the PET from 0% to 10% and the temperature from 21.1 to 54.4 °C increased the critical strain value (LVER) by 96%.  相似文献

Flexural strength (FS) and translucency (Contrast Ratio-CR) of three different factory crystallized silica-based glass ceramics, Celtra Duo (CD), N!ce (NI) and Li-Si Block, a lithium disilicate, IPS e.max CAD (LD), and a leucite-reinforced feldspathic ceramic, Empress CAD (EM), in two different translucencies (HT and LT) for use in chairside dental restorations have been compared. CAD blocks of the materials were cut into beams and tiles and processed following manufacturers’ instructions. The beams were tested (3-PBT) to determine flexural strength, Weibull characteristic strength, and Weibull modulus; and tiles were tested to determine CR. All data were statistically analyzed. In addition, SEM analysis of the materials was performed. Differences in flexural strength (FS) and translucency (CR) between the materials were found to be statistically significant. Our findings show that factory-crystallized lithium silicate glass ceramics fulfill ISO standards for Classes 1 and 2. Therefore, they can be considered viable alternatives to produce single-unit restorations with a chairside procedure not requiring thermal treatment.  相似文献
