The authors evaluated the conspicuousness of the temporal scar caused by two incision patterns after harvesting the temporoparietal fascial flap: a straight incision and a zigzag incision. The 27 scars of 27 patients were examined in this study. Fifteen patients underwent a straight incision and 12 patients had a zigzag incision. This study showed that the zigzag incision resulted in more conspicuous scars than the straight incision and that this effect was more evident in younger patients than in older patients, at least in Japanese. In a comparison of older patients and younger patients irrespective of the skin incision patterns, the scars were substantially more conspicuous in the younger patients. A simple and short incision is preferred when harvesting the temporoparietal fascial flap and more careful management is required for young patients.  相似文献

The exposure of blood to hemodialysis membranes results in numerous phenomena and/or complications in hemodialyzed patients, which have an influence on the quality of life (QOL) of those patients. A vitamin E-modified regenerated cellulose membrane (E-membrane) was developed to act as a scavenger for reactive oxygen species causing complications in hemodialysis patients. Neopterin (NEOP) is a metabolite derived from guanosine triphosphate with the production and release of NEOP being induced in monocytes and macrophages by cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma). Serum neopterin levels are shown to be a reactive marker of bioincompatibility of dialysis membranes in hemodialysis patients. The following report evaluates the usefulness of serum NEOP as a marker for the biocompatibility of the E-membrane hemodialyzer in a clinical study. In the clinical study, where extracorporeal ultrafiltration strategies with E-membranes were employed, the serum levels of NEOP were lower than those in patients using cellulose triacetate membranes (C-membranes). In the long-term evaluation of the biocompatibility of E- and C-membranes, the increase of serum neopterin levels in the C-membrane was higher than those in the E-membrane. In conclusion, the evaluation of serum neopterin levels during hemodialysis shows that the E-membrane has a good biocompatibility in hemodialyzed patients.  相似文献

We report cases of the dermoid cyst patients with a bone deformity that were treated with artificial dermis implantation. After resecting the tumor, three or five sheets of artificial dermis (Terudermis, Terumo Co. Ltd, Tokyo, Japan) are placed into the depressed site in order to create symmetrical surface with the contralateral side. Neither of the cases presented here showed allergic or infectious reaction during postoperative follow-up period. In both cases, the texture of the implanted region is almost the same as the contralateral side and is almost symmetrical. We believe that artificial dermis may be a useful implantation material to correct depressions in the patient with dermoid cysts.  相似文献

The present study investigated the involvement of the serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) neuronal system in the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory in the eight-arm radial maze in rats. Delta(9)-Tetrahydrocannabinol (6 mg/kg, i.p.), which impairs spatial memory, significantly increased the 5-HT content in the ventral hippocampus. A microdialysis study showed that Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (6 mg/kg, i.p.) decreased 5-HT release in the ventral hippocampus. The 5-HT precursor, 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan (5-HTP; 50 mg/kg, i.p.), the 5-HT re-uptake inhibitor, clomipramine (0.01 and 0.1 mg/kg, i.p.), the 5-HT receptor agonist, 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeODMT; 0.01 and 0.03 mg/kg, i.p.), and the 5-HT(2) receptor agonist, 1-(2,5-dimethoxy 4-iodophenyl)-2-amino propane (DOI; 10 microg/kg, i.p.), significantly attenuated the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory. These results suggest that the 5-HT neuronal system may be involved in the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory.  相似文献

Various proinflammatory mediators are believed to be involved in the processes and symptoms of ulcerative colitis (UC). To determine whether endogenous kinin enhances the severity of UC, we induced experimental colitis (EC) in kininogen-deficient mutant rats and tested the effect of a non-peptide B2 receptor antagonist. EC was induced in male kininogen-deficient Brown Norway-Katholiek rats (BN-Ka) and normal Brown Norway-Kitasato rats (BN-Ki) with 5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS). Sprague-Dawley rats (SD) were also used. Colon length, body weight and hematocrit were determined for 7 days. Effects of FR173657, an orally active B2 antagonist, were tested. The colon length was shortened in BN-Ki with DSS treatment, but not in BN-Ka, and the difference between their lengths was significant. The hematocrit value was also reduced in BN-Ki, and the difference in hematocrit between BN-Ki and BN-Ka was significant. In SD, shortening of the colon and reduction in hematocrit were also observable, and both were blunted by FR173657. The survival rate in SD given DSS for 7 days was 68%, but FR173657 treatment restored it significantly to 100%. These results suggest that the endogenous kinins generated from the kallikrein-kinin system have a significant role in the development of EC.  相似文献

Activating the noradrenergic and cholinergic systems is known to enhance attentional processes, while stimulating dopaminergic, serotonergic, and GABAergic systems suppresses them. The objective of the present study was to investigate the pharmacological characterization in the attentional processes of a two-lever choice reaction time (CRT) task using different centrally acting drugs. We designed seven parameters in this task: the correct response (CR) rate; error response rate; nonresponse (NR) rate; differential reinforcement of other behavior (DRO) responses; number of incorrect lever pressings during both the intertrial interval and DRO periods; the mean CRT of CR; and activity during 30 trials. The compounds produced different profiles at each dose. 1) Facilitative and disruptive effects on attentional processes occurred with changes in CRT alone. Scopolamine (0.1 mg/kg) and prazosin (0.3-1 mg/kg) prolonged the CRT, whereas methamphetamine (0.3 mg/kg) shortened the CRT. 2) Attentional deficits occurred with abnormal behavior showing premature response or perseverative behavior. Scopolamine (0.2-1 mg/kg), methamphetamine (3 mg/kg), delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (10 mg/kg), and MK-801 (0.1-0.3 mg/kg) produced a marked increase in the number of total lever pressings. 3) Motor function deficits rather than attentional deficits occurred. 8-OH DPAT (1 mg/kg) and muscimol (1 mg/kg) produced a decrease in CR and an increase in NR with a marked decrease in activity and prolonged the CRT. Activating noradrenergic alpha(1) receptors was found to enhance the attentional processes, while blocking muscarinic receptors, alpha(1) receptors, and NMDA receptors, and stimulating cannabinoid receptors and the dopaminergic systems impaired the attentional processes in the two-lever CRT task.  相似文献

The causal relationship between the inhibition of antibody production and liver injury induced by single doses of acetaminophen (APAP) was investigated in mice. The liver injury and antibody production were evaluated using the serum transaminase activity and the number of antibody forming cells against sheep red blood cells (SRBC), respectively. The relevance of APAP hepatotoxicity with inhibiting antibody production was elucidated in fasted and fed mice treated with a single oral administration of APAP. In fasted mice, the oral administration of APAP produced serious liver injury, while it was not the case in the fed mice. As the antibody production was measured under these conditions, APAP significantly depressed the antibody production in fed mice as well as in fasted mice. The rate of B220 positive cells in the splenocytes was significantly decreased by APAP administration in both the fasted and fed mice. Splenocytes proliferative responses following mitogenic stimulation with concanavalin A or lipopolysaccharide were inhibited by APAP. Moreover, APAP added directly to the splenocyte culture also inhibited the in vitro antibody-producing response to SRBC. These findings indicate that the APAP-induced depression of antibody production may not be a secondary response to APAP-hepatitis, but may be a primary response to APAP.  相似文献

A 47-year-old man was admitted to hospital with complaint of general fatigue. Shortly before the admission a suspected obstructive jaundice was diagnosed at a local hospital. On admission, the physical examination was significant for jaundice; total bilirubin was 6.43 mg/dl. The tumor marker CA19-9 was 2056 U/ml. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was performed and showed dilatation of common bile duct and main pancreatic duct, accompanied with an endoscopic naso-biliary drainage (ENBD) in order to reduce the jaundice. The duodenoscopy showed enlarged and deformed papilla. Hypotonic duodenography showed a filling defect at the medial side of the second portion of the duodenum. Ultrasonography (US) showed a hyperechoic lesion, sized 15 mm in diameter, at the pancreas head with dilatation of biliary tract and main pancreatic duct. An abdominal enhanced CT scan showed a mass sized 15 mm at the lower edge of the common bile duct. A selective hepatic arteriography showed no special finding. We performed a pancreatoduodenectomy with dissection of the lymph nodes. The tumor, sized 22x15x20 mm, was white colored and solid on the papilla. Histopathological inspection of the specimen showed an adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the bile duct in the papilla. The tumor was found to infiltrate the neighboring pancreas and to contain metastasis in lymph nodes in the hepatoduodenal ligament, post pancreaticoduodenal and para-aortic lymph nodes. This is the first report on a case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the papilla major.  相似文献
