The influence of family on an individual’s fertility has long been an important topic of interest in fertility research. Although studies conducted mostly in developed countries found a significant bearing of fertility of the parents on the fertility of the children, there is a lack of formal research around this topic in India. The present study analyses the effect of sibling size of husband and wife on the completed family size of women using information of 5506 ever-married women aged 45–49 years incorporated in the India Human Development Survey-II (2011–2012). Inferential statistics, bivariate, Chi-square and Poisson regression were used as the methods of analysis. Silver nanoparticles have many medical and commercial applications, but their effects on human health are poorly understood. They are used extensively in products of daily use, but little is known about their potential neurotoxic effects. A xenobiotic metal, silver, has no known physiological significance in the human body as a trace metal. Biokinetics of silver nanoparticles indicates its elimination from the body via urine and feces route. However, a substantial amount of evidence from both in vitro and in vivo experimental research unequivocally establish the fact of easier penetration of smaller nanoparticles across the blood–brain barrier to enter in brain and thereby interaction with cellular components to induce neurotoxic effects. Toxicological effects of silver nanoparticles rely on the degree of exposure, particle size, surface coating, and agglomeration state as well as the type of cell or organism used to evaluate its toxicity. This review covers pertinent facts and the present state of knowledge about the neurotoxicity of silver nanoparticles reviewing the impacts on oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial function, neurodegeneration, apoptosis, and necrosis. The effect of silver nanoparticles on the central nervous system is a topic of growing interest and concern that requires immediate consideration.  相似文献

Objectives

The present study aimed to estimate the trunk muscles moment-arms in low back pain (LBP) patients and compare this data to those of healthy individuals. This research further explored whether the difference of the moment-arms between these two is a contributing factor to LBP.

Methodology

Fifty patients with CLBP (group A) and 25 healthy controls (group B) were enrolled. All participants were subjected to magnetic resonance imaging of lumbar spine. Muscle moment-arms were estimated on a T2W axial section parallel to the disc.

Results

There was statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) in the sagittal plane moment-arms at L1–L2 for right erector spinae (ES), bilateral psoas and rectus abdominis (RA), right quadratus lumborum (QL), and left obliques; bilateral ES, QL, RA, and right psoas at L2–L3; bilateral QL, RA, and obliques at L3–L4; bilateral RA and obliques at L4–L5; and bilateral psoas, RA, and obliques at L5–S1. There was no statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in the coronal plane moment-arms except for left ES and QL at L1–L2; left QL and right RA at L3–L4; right RA and obliques at L4–L5; and bilateral ES and right RA at L5–S1.

Conclusions

There was a significant difference in muscle moment-arms of the lumbar spine's prime stabilizer (psoas) and primary locomotors (rectus abdominis and obliques) between LBP patients and healthy individuals. This difference in the moment-arms leads to altered compressive forces at intervertebral discs and may be one of the risk factors for LBP.
