The roles of <Superscript>11</Superscript>C-acetate PET/CT in predicting tumor differentiation and survival in patients with cerebral glioma

Purpose

This prospective study aimed to evaluate the clinical values of ¹¹C–acetate positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in predicting histologic grades and survival in patients with cerebral glioma.

Methods

Seventy-three patients with surgically confirmed cerebral gliomas (19 grade II, 21 grade III, and 33 grade IV) who underwent ¹¹C–acetate PET/CT before surgery were included. Tumor-to-choroid plexus ratio (TCR), which was defined as the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV) of tumors to the mean SUV of choroid plexus, was compared between three World Health Organization (WHO) grade groups. Moreover, metabolic tumor volumes (MTV) were calculated. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) curves were plotted using the Kaplan–Meier method, and differences in survival between groups were assessed using the log-rank test.

Results

Median TCR was 1.20 (interquartile range [IQR], 1.14 to 1.4) in grade II, 1.65 (IQR, 1.26 to 1.79) in grade III, and 2.53 (IQR, 1.93 to 3.30) in grade IV gliomas. Significant differences in TCR were seen among the three WHO grade groups (P?<?0.001). In Cox regression analysis including TCR, MTV, molecular markers, and other clinical factors, TCR was prognostic for PFS (P?=?0.016) and TCR and MTV were prognostic for OS (P?=?0.024 [TCR], P?=?0.030 [MTV]). PFS and OS were significantly shorter in patients with a TCR?≥?1.6 than in those with a TCR?<?1.6. OS were significantly shorter in patients with a MTV?≥?1 than in those with a TCR?<?1.

Conclusions

TCR on ¹¹C–acetate PET/CT significantly differed between low- and high-grade cerebral gliomas, and it showed the capability to further differentiate grade III from grade IV tumors. TCR and MTV were independent prognostic factors and predicted survival better than did the WHO grade.

     

肺癌单克隆抗体的混合应用在100例肺癌的免疫组化检查

本文混合应用我室制备的三株抗人肺癌单克隆抗体F—19、SIA—2,N—35,对100例各型肺癌石腊切片标本进行了免疫组化(ABC法)检测,总阳性率91％。其中肺鳞癌93％,肺腺癌86％,肺泡细胞癌83％,肺混合癌(鳞+腺)100％,肺未分化癌91％,较之单个抗体检测大大提高了阳性率。尤其对肺未分化癌(小细胞癌达100％)。避免了单一抗体检测阴性而丢失的阳性病例,并对检测中出现的核抗原作了初探。采用抗原竞争抑制试验证明三株抗体分别针对不同的抗原决定簇,用免疫封闭试验排外CEA抗体。     

Reversion Mode Activation by Myopotential Sensing in a Ventricular Inhibited Demand Pacemaker

Pacemaker follow-up in a 72-year-old woman revealed occasional failure to sense and pace, which was confirmed by Holter monitor. Neither reprogramming the pacemaker sensitivity nor repositioning the lead resolved the problem. A recheck of the Holter recordings revealed pacing and sensing failures were concurrent with "baseline artifact," suggestive of myopotentials. Furthermore, the inappropriate pacing spikes occurred at a rate of 90 pulses per minute (ppm). It was theorized that myopotential sensing was alternately inhibiting the pacer and activating the reversion mode, an asynchronous rate of 90 ppm. Reprogramming the unit to a lower sensitivity restored normal pacer function.     

The Korean Version of the Body Image Scale-Reliability and Validity in a Sample of Breast Cancer Patients

Objective

The Body Image Scale (BIS) developed in collaboration with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Study Group is a brief questionnaire for measuring body image concerns in patients with cancer. This study sought to assess the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Body Image Scale (K-BIS).

Methods

The participants consisted of 155 postoperative breast cancer patients (56 breast conserving surgery, 56 mastectomy, and 43 oncoplastic surgery). Subjects were evaluated using the K-BIS, the Body-Esteem Scale for Adolescents and Adults (BESAA), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Abbreviated Version (WHOQOL-BREF). Test-retest reliability and internal consistency were examined as a measure of reliability and validity was evaluated by convergent validity, discriminant validity and factor analysis.

Results

Cronbach''s α value was 0.943. The total score of the K-BIS was negatively correlated with the BESAA (r=0.301, p<0.001) and the body image facet in the WHOQOL-BREF (r=0.315, p<0.001). The total score of K-BIS positively correlated with the HADS (HAD-A: r=0.501, p<0.001, HAD-D: r=0.466, p<0.001). As for determining discriminant validity, scores were compared between the BCS subgroup, mastectomy subgroup, and oncoplastic surgery subgroup. Difference between the mastectomy subgroup and oncoplastic surgery subgroup was statistically significant (p=0.017). Factor analysis resulted in a single factor solution in three out of four anlyses, accounting for >59% variance.

Conclusion

The K-BIS showed good reliability and validity for assessment of body image in Korean breast cancer patients.     

292例药品不良反应报告分析

目的分析我院药品不良反应(ADR)发生特点及相关因素。方法对我院近两年来的292例ADR报告作回顾性分析。结果报告中女性患者大于男性,40~69岁年龄段发生率最高;ADR涉及的药品种类及例次中,以抗生素、中成药占首位;ADR临床表现上,主要是皮肤及其附件损害,其次是消化系统损害。结论加强药物药品不良反应监测,促进临床合理用药。     

Electrophysiologic Characteristics of Complex Fractionated Atrial Electrograms in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation

Introduction: The underlying mechanisms of complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) during radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of atrial fibrillation (AF) have not yet been clearly elucidated. We explored the relationships between CFAE and left atrial (LA) voltage, or conduction velocity (CV).
Methods and Results: In 50 patients with AF (23 paroxysmal AF [PAF], 41 males, mean age 55.76 ± 10.16 years), the CFAE (average index of fractionation of electrograms during AF by interval-analysis algorithm, cycle length [CL]≤ 120 ms) areas, voltage, and CV were measured at eight different quadrants in each patient's LA by analyzing a NavX-guided, color-coded CFAE CL map, a voltage map, and an isochronal map (500 ms pacing) generated by contact bipolar electrograms (70–100 points in the LA). The results were: (1) CFAE areas were predominantly located in the septum, roof, and LA appendage; (2) CFAE area had lower voltage than those in non-CFAE area and was surrounded by the areas of high voltage (P < 0.0001); (3) The CFAE areas had low CVs compared with non-CFAE areas (P < 0.001); and (4) The percentage of CFAE area was lower in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (PeAF) compared with those with PAF (P < 0.05).
Conclusions: The CFAE area, which is primarily located at the septum, has a low voltage with a lower CV, and is surrounded by high-voltage areas. Underlying electroanatomical complexity is associated with clustering of CFAEs.     

鄂州市梁子镇一起化学性食物中毒事件的调查报告

目的了解鄂州市梁子镇发生一起因食用饮食摊售卖的油饼和鸡柳而导致食物中毒事件。方法依据流行病学调查、现场卫生学调查、临床症状以及实验室检验。结果 20人食用,11人发病,罹患率为55.00%。结论证实为将呋喃丹当作食品原料引起的化学性食物中毒事件。     

乳腺癌E-Cadherin的表达与术野脱落癌细胞关系的研究

研究粘附分子E-Cadherin(E-CD)在乳腺癌中的表达及其与临床病理特征及术野脱落癌细胞的关系，以求更深入地探讨乳腺癌侵袭和转移的机制，为乳腺癌临床的诊治提供参考。 方法采用免疫组织化学ABC法，研究E-CD在52例乳腺浸润性导管癌组织中的表达强度。 结果52例乳腺癌中ECD正常表达者15例(28.9％)，减弱表达者14例(26.9％)，表达缺失23例(44.2％)，，总异常表达率为71.1％。E-CD的表达与组织学分级显著相关，异常表达率Ⅰ级(36.4％)明显低于Ⅱ级(75％)和Ⅲ级(92.3％)(P

成都市敬老院老年人口腔健康认知、行为的调查分析

目的了解上海市松江区敬老院老年人口腔健康情况,为提高其口腔健康水平提供参考依据。方法通过对松江区15家敬老院共375名老年人问卷调查和口腔检查,分析其牙缺失、义齿修复、牙周状况及口腔卫生习惯等状况。结果375名老年人中失牙率达到94.13%,女性失牙率(96.09%)高于男性(91.03%)(P < 0.01);全口无牙颌率为28.27%,女性全口无牙颌比例(34.35%)明显多于男性(18.62%)(P < 0.05);全口义齿修复率为91.51%(97/106)。人均存牙数为11.54颗,男性人均存牙数(14.48颗/人)明显多于女性(9.70颗/人)(P < 0.05)。上、下颌牙的后牙的失牙率均显著高于其前牙失牙率(P < 0.01)。基本不刷牙的比例为20.53%,每天刷牙大于等于2次比例为33.33 %。结论目前松江区敬老院老年人口腔健康口腔状况不容乐观,需多部门联合加强辖区敬老院老人口腔保健的宣教力度,提升居民口腔保健意识,改善老年人的缺牙修复水平,提高其生活质量。
