The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of CsA on lymphocyte deformability and oxidant-antioxidant system in peripheral lymphocytes in rats. Female Wistar Albino rats were injected 10 mg/kg/30 days Sandimmun i.p. the control rats were injected 0.9% NaCl. CsA administration caused a significant reduction in the deformability of lymphocytes, and produced a significant increase in peripheral lymphocytes lipid peroxide level and a significant decrease in nitric oxide (NO) level. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in peripheral lymphocytes did not show significant differences between CsA administrated and control rats. However the total thiol (t-SH) content of lymphocytes was significantly lower in CsA administrated rats. CONCLUSIONS: The present data demonstrate that CsA administration increased lipid peroxidation and decreased the NO levels and t-SH contents in the peripheral lymphocytes of rats. This effect was accompanied by a decrease in lymphocytes deformability. These results support the hypothesis that sufficient cellular t-SH concentrations may be important to prevent cyclosporin toxicity, and indicate that disturbances in lymphocytes rheology may be an additional risk factor in the pathogenesis of side effects associated with CsA. 相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the stability of occlusion of terminal bifurcation aneurysms after embolization with hydrogel-coated coils. METHODS: Of 35 bifurcation aneurysms, 34 were treated with hydrogel-coated coils in combination with platinum coils, and 1 was treated with hydrogel-coated coils only. Aneurysms were located at the basilar tip in 17 patients, and the internal carotid artery (ICA) bifurcation in 18 patients. The patient population consisted of 20 women and 15 men with ages ranging from 21 to 65 years. The aneurysm was found in 16 patients on presentation for subarachnoid hemorrhage, and in 19 patients the finding was incidental. Of the 35 aneurysms, 25 were small, 9 were large and 1 was giant. The giant aneurysm was located at the basilar tip and showed partial thrombosis. All except two basilar tip aneurysms were treated with balloon assistance. The remaining two basilar tip aneurysms were embolized with the assistance of an aneurysmal neck bridge device. RESULTS: The mean percentage occluded aneurysm volume for all devices was in the range 34-100%. Follow-up angiograms were obtained at 1 year in 6 patients, 2 years in 11 patients, and 3 years in 18 patients. Angiograms obtained immediately after embolization demonstrated a Raymond class 1 occlusion in 29 patients (82.9%) and a Raymond class 2 occlusion in 6 patients (17.1%). In four of these six patients follow-up angiograms demonstrated regrowth with resultant Raymond class 3 occlusion. In the other two patients, Raymond class 2 occlusion remained stable on follow-up angiograms. In patients who had a Raymond class 1 occlusion on the angiogram obtained immediately after embolization, no regrowth was seen on the follow-up angiograms. The overall recanalization rate was 11.4% (three large, one giant) at 6 months. Retreatment was not considered in three of these patients and they were to be followed; the other patient was retreated. CONCLUSION: Our initial procedural data demonstrate that higher volumetric occlusion was achieved with hydrogel-coated coils and the long-term follow-up results showed a favorably low recanalization rates among the terminal bifurcation aneurysms. 相似文献

We aimed to investigate whether agoraphobia (A) in panic disorder (PD) has any effects on oxidative and anti-oxidative parameters. We measured total antioxidant capacity (TAC), paraoxonase (PON), arylesterase (ARE) antioxidant and malondialdehyde (MDA) oxidant levels using blood samples from a total of 31 PD patients with A, 22 PD patients without A and 53 control group subjects. There was a significant difference between the TAC, PON, ARE and MDA levels of the three groups consisting of PD with A, PD without A and the control group. The two-way comparison to clarify the group creating the difference showed that the TAC, PON, and ARE antioxidants were significantly lower in the PD with A group compared to the control group while the MDA oxidant was significantly higher. There was no significant difference between the PD without A and control groups for TAC, PON, ARE and MDA levels. We clearly demonstrated that the oxidative stress and damage to the anti-oxidative mechanism are significantly higher in the PD group with A. These findings suggest that oxidative/anti-oxidative mechanisms may play a more important role on the pathogenesis of PB with A. 相似文献
