The MOnocytic leukaemia Zing finger (MOZ; MYST3 or KAT6A1) gene is frequently found translocated in acute myeloid leukaemia. MOZ encodes a large multidomain protein that contains, besides others, a histone acetyl transferase catalytic domain. Several studies have now established the critical function of MOZ in haematopoiesis. In this review we summarize the recent findings that underscore the relevance of the different biological activities of MOZ in the regulation of haematopoiesis.  相似文献

Despite years of intensive investigation that has been made in understanding prostate cancer, it remains one of the major men''s health issues and the leading cause of death worldwide. It is now ascertained that prostate cancer emerges from multiple spontaneous and/or inherited alterations that induce changes in expression patterns of genes and proteins that function in complex networks controlling critical cellular events. It is now accepted that several innate and adaptive immune cells, including T- and B-lymphocytes, macrophages, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, neutrophils, eosinophils, and mast cells (MCs), infiltrate the prostate cancer. All of these cells are irregularly scattered within the tumor and loaded with an assorted array of cytokines, chemokines, and inflammatory and cytotoxic mediators. This complex framework reflects the diversity in tumor biology and tumor-host interactions. MCs are well-established effector cells in Immunoglobulin-E (Ig-E) associated immune responses and potent effector cells of the innate immune system; however, their clinical significance in prostate cancer is still debated. Here, these controversies are summarized, focusing on the implications of these findings in understanding the roles of MCs in primary prostate cancer.  相似文献

Abstract

In some clinical situations, the clinician may encounter previously installed implants that should be associated with other implants for a proper rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical behaviour of a multiple prosthesis joined by different implant connections using photoelasticity. Photoelastic models with a screwed fixed prosthesis supported by implants with different connection systems (Morse taper, external hexagon, internal hexagon, and Flexcone), and different combinations among them, were fabricated. Each assembly was placed in a circular polariscope, and axial and oblique (45°) loads of 100 N were applied on the occlusal surface of the crowns. The fringe patterns were photographed and the analysis was performed by counting the number of high-intensity fringes and also according to the stress distribution region where they appeared. Among implants of the same connection, the external connections obtained a greater number of high intensity fringes when compared to the internal connections. From the biomechanical point of view, the association between different types of connections obtained positive results.  相似文献

Background :

Immunological and inflammatory mechanisms play a key role in the development and progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Aim :

To raise the hypothesis that alterations in immunological parameters occur after duodenojejunal bypass surgery combined with ileal interposition without gastrectomy, and influences the insulin metabolism of betacells.

Methods :

Seventeen patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus under clinical management were submitted to surgery and blood samples were collected before and six months after surgery for evaluation of the serum profile of proinflammatory (IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-17A) and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10). In addition, anthropometric measures, glucose levels and insulin use were evaluated in each patient.

Results :

No changes in the expression pattern of proinflammatory cytokines were observed before and after surgery. In contrast, there was a significant decrease in IL-10 expression, which coincided with a reduction in the daily insulin dose, glycemic index, and BMI of the patients. Early presentation of food to the ileum may have induced the production of incretins such as GLP-1 and PYY which, together with glycemic control, contributed to weight loss, diabetes remission and the consequent good surgical prognosis of these patients. In addition, the control of metabolic syndrome was responsible for the reduction of IL-10 expression in these patients.

Conclusion :

These findings suggest the presence of low-grade inflammation in these patients during the postoperative period, certainly as a result of adequate glycemic control and absence of obesity, contributing to a good outcome of surgery.  相似文献

Literature on mirror neurons has shown that seeing someone preparing to move generates in the motor areas of the observers a brain activity similar to that generated when the subject prepares his own actions. Thus, the ‘mirroring’ of action would not be limited to the execution phase but also involves the preparation process. Here we confirm and extend this notion showing that, just as different brain activities prepare different voluntary actions, also different brain activities prepare to observe different predictable actions. Videos of two different actions from egocentric point of view were presented in separate blocks: (i) grasping of a cup and (ii) impossible grasping of a cup. Subjects had to passively observe the videos showing object-directed hand movements. Through the use of the event-related potentials, we found a cortical activity before observing the actions, which was very similar to the one recorded prior to the actual execution of that same action, in terms of both topography and latency. This anticipatory activity does not represent a general preparation state but an action-specific state, because being dependent on the specific meaning of the forthcoming action. These results reinforce our knowledge about the correspondence between action, perception and cognition.  相似文献
