The continuous search for improved surgical procedures to address gingival deformities is a consequence of an increasing demand for aesthetics in the periodontal clinical practice. Innovative techniques have been reported to help clinicians achieve predictability in root coverage. Significant progress can be attributed to the inclusion of the operative microscope in periodontal therapy, particularly in regards to obtaining primary closure. This article describes a microsurgical technique used to treat gingival recessions, showing its potential for obtaining optimal aesthetic results.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of ceramic inlays and onlays made with two systems: sintered (Duceram [D], DeguDent) and pressable (IPS Empress [IPS], Ivoclar-Vivadent) after 1 year. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seventy-four restorations - 37 IPS and 37 D - were cemented in 34 patients. Twenty-four premolars and 50 molars received Class II cavity preparations, totaling 28 onlays and 46 inlays. The restorations were evaluated by two independent investigators at baseline, 6 months, and 1 year, according to modified USPHS criteria. Fisher and McNemar statistical tests were employed to assess the survival rate. RESULTS: After one year, 100% of the restorations were assessed and all the restorations were considered clinically excellent or acceptable. Among the analyzed criteria, only the following received "Bravo" ratings: marginal discoloration: IPS (24.32%), D (13.51%); marginal integrity: IPS (10.81%), D (8.11%); color match: IPS (5.41%), D (5.41%); surface texture: IPS (2.70%), D (10.81%). No "Charlie" or "Delta" scores were given to the restorations. CONCLUSION: Among the analyzed criteria, only marginal discoloration differed statistically significantly from the results of the baseline examination for IPS Empress ceramic restorations (p = 0.008). No significant differences were found between the two ceramics. The two ceramic systems demonstrated excellent clinical performance after a period of 1 year.  相似文献

Objectives: The vertical location of the implant‐abutment connection influences the periimplant bone morphology. It is unknown, however, whether different microgap configurations cause different bone reactions. Therefore, in this study the bone morphologies of two different implant systems were compared. Material and methods: Three months after tooth extraction in eight mongrel dogs, two grit‐blasted screw implants with internal Morse taper connection (ANK group) were placed on one side whereas the contralateral side received two oxidized screw implants with external hex (TIU group). One implant on each side was placed level with the bone (equicrestal), the second implant was inserted 1.5 mm below bone level (subcrestal). After 3 months the implants were uncovered. Three months after stage two surgery, histometrical evaluations were performed in order to assess the periimplant bone levels (PBL), the first bone‐to‐implant contact points (BICP), the width (HBD) and the steepness (SLO) of the bone defect. Results: All implants osseointegrated clinically and histologically. Bone overgrowth of the microgap was seen in ANK implants only. No significant differences between ANK and TIU could be detected in neither vertical position for PBL and BICP. However, a tendency in favor of ANK was visible when the implants were placed subcrestally. In the parameters HBD (ANK equicrestal ?0.23 mm; TIU equicrestal ?0.51 mm; ANK subcrestal +0.19 mm; TIU subcrestal ?0.57 mm) and SLO (ANK equicrestal 35.36°; TIU equicrestal 63.22°; ANK subcrestal 20.40°; TIU subcrestal 44.43°) more pronounced and significant differences were noted. Conclusions: Within the limits of this study, it is concluded that different microgap designs cause different shapes and sizes of the periimplant (‘dish‐shaped’) bone defect in submerged implants both in equicrestal and subcrestal positions.  相似文献

A carbon paste of SiO2/Nb2O5 material was used as the electrode in the development of a dissolved dioxygen sensor in 1.0 mol l?1 KCl solution at pH 6.2. The material was prepared by the sol–gel method. In the investigation of its electrochemical properties, linear and cyclic voltammetric and chronoamperometric techniques were employed. Dioxygen reduction, which was diffusion controlled, occurred at ?280 mV vs. SCE by a two electron mechanism, producing peroxide. A linear response between the cathodic peak current intensity and the dissolved O2 concentration was obtained for the region between 1.0 and 13.6 mg l?1. The stability proved to be very good over successive voltammetric cycles. The electrode response time was about 5 s. The electron transfer reactions were explained as being to an n-type semiconductor of niobia dispersed in the silica surface.  相似文献

Microwave energy has been used as an alternative method for disinfection and sterilization of dental prostheses. This study evaluated the influence of microwave treatment on dimensional accuracy along the posterior palatal border of maxillary acrylic resin denture bases processed by water-bath curing. Thirty maxillary acrylic bases (3-mm-thick) were made on cast models with Clássico acrylic resin using routine technique. After polymerization and cooling, the sets were deflasked and the bases were stored in water for 30 days. Thereafter, the specimens were assigned to 3 groups (n=10), as follows: group I (control) was not submitted to any disinfection cycle; group II was submitted to microwave disinfection for 3 min at 500 W; and in group III microwaving was done for 10 min at 604 W. The acrylic bases were fixed on their respective casts with instant adhesive (Super Bonder) and the base/cast sets were sectioned transversally in the posterior palatal zone. The existence of gaps between the casts and acrylic bases was assessed using a profile projector at 5 points. No statistically significant differences were observed between the control group and group II. However, group III differed statistically from the others (p<0.05). Treatment in microwave oven at 604 W for 10 min produced the greatest discrepancies in the adaptation of maxillary acrylic resin denture bases to the stone casts.  相似文献

Tonsilloliths or tonsil stones are calcifications that form in the crypts of the palatal tonsils. These calculi are composed of calcium salts either alone or in combination with other mineral salts, and are usually of small size - though there have been occasional reports of large tonsilloliths or calculi in peritonsillar locations. We present the case of a 55-year-old woman with a one-year history of dysphagia and pharyngeal discomfort with a foreign body sensation, though the manifestations had recently intensified. Exploration of the oral cavity revealed a hard bulging submucosal mass in the region of the soft palate, at right anterior tonsillar pillar level. The mucosa overlying the lesion appeared erythematous. Computed tomography revealed a large, delimited and highly calcified oval image measuring 2.5 x 1.5 cm, which was subsequently surgically removed.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the histometric impact of nicotine on bone regeneration of surgically created alveolar ridge defects in dogs. Sixteen mongrel dogs were used. One defect was surgically created unilaterally in the mandible, and left to heal spontaneously. The animals were randomly assigned to one of the following groups: Group 1--control (n = 8) and Group 2--subcutaneous nicotine administration (2 mg/kg) twice a day (n = 8). After 4 months, the animals were sacrificed and the specimens routinely processed for semi-serial decalcified sections. Bone height (BH), bone width (BW), bone density (BD), and bone area (BA) of the newly-formed bone were evaluated. Intergroup analysis (Mann-Whitney rank sum test) showed that regardless of the presence of nicotine, no significant differences were observed regarding bone width (BW), bone area (BA) and bone height (BH) (p > 0.05). On the other hand, it was demonstrated that nicotine administration significantly influenced the proportion of mineralized tissue within the limits of the newly-formed bone (BD) (p < 0.001). Within the limits of the present study, it can be concluded that nicotine might affect but not prevent bone healing in defects left to heal spontaneously.  相似文献

The main features of cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of thin electrochromic films based on a-WO3 were investigated. First, the chemical capacitance is defined in terms of the electrochemical potential variation with the insertion level, x, and is measured under galvanostatic (chronopotentiometry) quasi-equilibrium conditions. An equilibrium capacitance increasing rapidly with respect to insertion level or negative potential is observed, respectively Cchxa at x>10?3(a≈0.74) and CchVα(α≈3). Simulation methods used to generate the observed CVs are described in detail. Major CV peaks can be simply understood as charging and discharging of the variable capacitor, in conjunction with a distortion of the voltage scale due to a series transport process. Therefore a simple RC equivalent circuit allows us to explain the principal CVs characteristics of lithium intercalation and deintercalation in amorphous films.  相似文献
