The wear phenomenon of a dental milling cutter is studied based on experimental results and data and validated by statistical–mathematical modeling. The results of the statistical–mathematical modeling by the interpolation of the experimental results (data) regarding the wear of the dental milling cutter analyzed and obtained in the work process are presented in this paper. These results (data) are important because they lead to polynomial functions which by interpolation approximate very well the dependent parameter, specifically the wear process (mass lost due to dental milling cutter wear, mw), considered in the experimental program. The polynomial interpolation functions are valid, only during the experimental testing range of the dental milling cutter, to describe the wear phenomenon; the extrapolations do not lead to satisfactory results. However, by using a controlled interpolation function with an exponential component, the extrapolation of the results is possible. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is the statistical–mathematical modeling by the interpolation of the experimental results of the mass lost due to dental milling cutter wear, mw, using the deterministic differential model for the work process of it. Thus, interesting conclusions can be drawn relating to the phenomenon. In support of these statements come the results of the statistical–mathematical modeling by the interpolation of the experimental data obtained in the work process of the dental milling cutters, leading to practical applications, such as the extension of the life of dental milling cutter, useful even for its operation optimization; determination of possible criteria for replacing the worn dental milling cutters; the extension of the life of the materials from which dental milling cutters are built; or the provision of ideas for constructive solutions. Based on the modeling results by interpolation, it was found that the dental milling cutter during the milling operation works with high efficiency (mass loss due to wear is very reduced) in the first 11 h of operation, i.e., about a 10% increase in lifetime. After 11 h of operation, mass loss due to wear of the dental milling cutter increases relatively exponentially; thus, it is recommended that, in the normal way, the dental milling cutter be replaced with a new one to ensure high standards of materials processing.  相似文献

As the commercially most-used Ti-6Al-4V alloy has a different modulus of elasticity compared to the modulus of elasticity of bone and contains allergenic elements, β-Ti alloy could be a suitable substitution in orthopedics. The spark plasma sintering (SPS) method is feasible for the preparation of materials, with very low porosity and fine-grained structure, leading to higher mechanical properties. In this study, we prepared quaternary Ti-25Nb-4Ta-8Sn alloy using the spark plasma sintering method. The material was also heat-treated in order to homogenize the structure and compare the microstructure and properties in as-sintered and annealed states. The SPS sample had a modulus of elasticity of about 63 ± 1 GPa, which, after annealing, increased to the value of 73 ± 1 GPa. The tensile yield strength (TYS) of the SPS sample was 730 ± 52 MPa, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) 764 ± 10 MPa, and ductility 22 ± 9%. Annealed samples reached higher values of TYS and UTS (831 ± 60 MPa and 954 ± 48 MPa), but the ductility decreased to the value of 3 ± 1%. The obtained results are discussed considering the observed microstructure of the alloy.  相似文献

We report a case of an infected subgaleal hematoma caused by an unusual micro-organism in a previously healthy 11-month-old girl. Our patient presented at the emergency department with an increasing scalp swelling for 2 weeks, and culture of the evacuated fluid yielded Streptococcus pneumoniae. Although she was born after vacuum delivery and a scalp swelling was noticed from the third day of life, this swelling disappeared completely at the age of 3 months. Parents were thoroughly questioned but we could not find out a new traumatic head event. We postulate that in our patient, a subgaleal hemorrhage developed after vacuum delivery and possibly infected 11 months later, presumably from hematogenous seeding of an acute otitis media. The patient recovered well after surgical drainage and antimicrobial therapy.  相似文献

Quantification of computed tomography (CT) noise helps in determination of radiation dosage requirements for adequate image quality. Clinical methods used include calculation of the standard deviation (SD) of a selected region of interest (ROI). In industry, wavelet decomposition has been used for image compression while removing high‐frequency noise. We evaluated a cohort of 74 consecutive patients referred for coronary artery calcium scoring and quantitated noise within a 16×16 ROI in the ascending aorta using the traditional SD method and also using a two‐dimensional dyadic wavelet decomposition method. Clinically, noise has been shown to be proportional to patient weight and also body mass index (BMI), which is a derived value from height and weight. Noise for both methods was plotted against patient parameters of height, weight, waist circumference and calculated BMI. A regression line was calculated and coefficient of determination (CoD) calculated for each. The CoD was better for height, weight, and waist circumference using the wavelet method as compared to the traditional SD method. The wavelet method of quantification of image noise may be an improved method as compared to the SD method. This method could help further refine an imaging system's determination of radiation dosage requirements to obtain a satisfactory quality image.  相似文献

PURPOSE: 2-Nitro-alpha-[(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)methyl]-imidazole-1-ethanol (TF-MISO) was investigated as a potential noninvasive marker of tissue oxygen levels in tumors using (19)F magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and (19)F chemical shift imaging. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS: In vitro data were obtained using high-performance liquid chromatography on tumor cells incubated under varying oxygen conditions to determine the oxygen-binding characteristics. In vivo data were obtained using a well-characterized hypoxic murine breast tumor (MCa), in addition to studies on a rat prostate tumor model (R3327-AT) implanted in nude mice. Detection of intratumor (19)F signal from TF-MISO was done using MRS for up to 10 h following a 75 mg/kg i.v. injection. Localized distribution of the compound in the implanted MCa tumor has been imaged using slice-selective two-dimensional chemical shift imaging 6 h after injection. RESULTS: The in vitro results showed that TF-MISO preferentially accumulates in cells incubated under anoxic conditions. The in vivo (19)F MR spectral features (line width and chemical shift) were recorded as a function of time after injection, and the results indicate that the fluorine atoms are indeed sensitive to changes in the local environment while still providing a detectable MR signal. Ex vivo spectra were collected and established the visibility of the (19)F signal under conditions of maximum hypoxia. Late time point (>6 h) tumor tissue concentrations, as obtained from (19)F MRS, suggest that TF-MISO is reduced and retained in hypoxic tumor. The feasibility of obtaining TF-MISO tumor distribution maps in a reasonable time frame was established. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results presented herein, it is suggested that TF-MISO has the potential to be a valid magnetic resonance hypoxia imaging reporter for both preclinical hypoxia studies and hypoxia-directed clinical therapy.  相似文献

Recent data indicate a significant input of serotonin (5-HT) on mesoaccumbens dopamine-dependent behavioral effects of cocaine in rats. The present study investigated the role of 5-HT(1B) receptors in nucleus accumbens subregions (the shell and the core) and the effect of stimulation of those receptors in the discriminative stimulus effects of cocaine in rats. Male Wistar rats were trained to discriminate cocaine (10 mg/kg, i.p.) from saline (i.p.) in a two-choice, water-reinforced fixed-ratio 20 procedure. After reaching the cocaine-saline discrimination criterion, rats were stereotaxically implanted with bilateral cannulae in the accumbens shell or core, and then were microinjected with selective 5-HT(1B) receptor ligands. In substitution studies, microinjections of the 5-HT(1B) receptor antagonist GR 55562 (0.1-10 microg/side) or the 5-HT(1B) receptor agonist CP 93129 (0.1-10 microg/side) into accumbens subregions did not evoke cocaine-lever responding. Pretreatment with the 5-HT(1B) receptor antagonist GR 55562 (0.1-10 microg/side) in the accumbens shell or core failed to modulate the discriminative stimulus effects of cocaine (5 mg/kg). Combination tests using a fixed dose of CP 93129 (1-10 microg/side) into the accumbens shell prior to cocaine administration (0.6-5.0 mg/kg) did not affect cocaine discrimination. CP 93129 (1 microg/side, but not 0.1 microg/side) microinjected in the accumbens core, and low doses of systemic cocaine (0.6-2.5 mg/kg) produced a leftward shift in the cocaine dose-response curve and a decrease in its ED(50) value. GR 55562 (1 microg/side) significantly attenuated the enhancement of cocaine discrimination evoked by a combination of CP 93129 (1 microg/side) and cocaine (1.25 mg/kg or 2.5 mg/kg). These results seem to exclude a major role for the accumbens shell and core 5-HT(1B) receptors in controlling the discriminative stimulus effects of cocaine. However, they do suggest that the stimulation of 5-HT(1B) receptors in the accumbens core, but not in the shell, enhances cocaine discrimination in rats.  相似文献

Previous research demonstrated that the mesoaccumbens dopamine (DA) pathway played a critical role in the behavioral effects of amphetamine in rodents. Nonetheless, recent findings have also indicated involvement of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin) transmission in these effects. In the present study, we investigated the role of 5-HT1B receptors located in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) in the amphetamine-induced locomotor hyperactivity in rats. Male Wistar rats, implanted bilaterally with cannulae in the VTA were infused with saline (0.2 microl/side), GR 55562 (an antagonist of 5-HT1B receptors; 0.1-1 microg/side) or CP 93129 (an agonist of 5-HT1B receptors; 0.003-0.03 microg/side) immediately prior to the injection of saline (1 ml/kg, ip) or amphetamine (0.5 mg/kg, ip). The monitoring of locomotor activity in photobeam chambers began at once and proceeded for 60 min. Neither GR 55562 nor CP 93129 affected basal locomotor activity. Pretreatment with GR 55562 (0.1-1 microg/side) did not affect the locomotor hyperactivity evoked by amphetamine. On the other hand, microinjections of CP 93129 (0.01-0.03 microg/side) enhanced the amphetamine-induced hyperlocomotor activity. GR 55562 (1 microg/side) markedly reduced the enhancing effects of CP 93129 (0.01 microg/side) on the amphetamine-induced hyperactivity. These findings indicate that 5-HT1B receptors located in the VTA do not play a major role in the hyperlocomotion elicited by amphetamine, whereas their activation may modulate the behavioral response to the psychostimulant.  相似文献
