The response rate of non‐M3 acute myeloid leukemia (AML) to all trans retinoic acid has been limited. Using Affymetrix expression arrays, we found that in diverse AML blasts RXRA was expressed at higher levels than RARA and that mouse Ctsg‐PML‐RARA leukemia responded to bexarotene, a ligand for RXRA. We therefore performed a phase I study of combination bexarotene and decitabine in elderly and relapsed AML patients. We found that this combination was well tolerated, although outcomes were modest (1 CRi, and 3 PR among 19 patients). Correlative studies found that patients with clinical response had increased differentiation to bexarotene both in vivo and ex vivo, suggesting that pre‐treatment analysis might identify a more susceptible subgroup of patients. Background
C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) is characterized by predominant C3 deposits in glomeruli and dysregulation of the alternative pathway of complement. Half of C3G patients have a C3 nephritic factor (C3NeF). C3G incorporated entities with a range of features on microscopy including dense deposit diseases (DDD) and C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN). The aim of this work was to study children cases of C3G associated with C3NeF.Methods
We reviewed 18 cases of C3G with a childhood onset associated with C3NeF without identified mutations in CFH, CFI, and MCP genes.Results
Clinical histories started with recurrent hematuria for seven patients, nephrotic syndrome for four, acute post-infectious glomerulonephritis for three and acute renal failure for four. Twelve patients had a low C3 at first investigation. Kidney biopsy showed ten C3GN and eight DDD. Twenty-three percent of the patients tested presented elevated sC5b9. Seven patients relapsed 3 to 6 years after the onset. At the end of follow-up, two patients were under dialysis, 11 had a persistent proteinuria, five had none; four patients did not follow any treatment. Steroids were first used in 80 % of cases.Conclusions
C3NeF associated C3G has a heterogeneous presentation and outcome. Anti-proteinuric agents may control the disease during follow-up, even after nephrotic syndrome at the onset. The efficiency of immunosuppressive therapy remains questionable. 相似文献66.

Carbon monoxide (CO) purification from syngas impurities is a highly energy and cost intensive process. Adsorption separation using metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is being explored as an alternative technology for CO/nitrogen (N2) and CO/carbon dioxide (CO2) separation. Currently, MOFs'' uptake and selectivity levels do not justify displacement of the current commercially available technologies. Herein, we have impregnated a leading MOF candidate for CO purification, i.e. M-MOF-74 (M = Co or Ni), with Cu+ sites. Cu+ allows strong π-complexation from the 3d electrons with CO, potentially enhancing the separation performance. We have optimised the Cu loading procedure and confirmed the presence of the Cu+ sites using X-ray absorption fine structure analysis (XAFS). In situ XAFS and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier Transform spectroscopy analyses have demonstrated Cu+–CO binding. The dynamic breakthrough measurements showed an improvement in CO/N2 and CO/CO2 separations upon Cu impregnation. This is because Cu sites do not block the MOF metal sites but rather increase the number of sites available for interactions with CO, and decrease the surface area/porosity available for adsorption of the lighter component.We present an in situ study of CO adsorption on Cu impregnated MOF-74 and study the competitive adsorption of CO vs. CO2 and N2. 相似文献

The use of probiotics is one of the emerging lines of treatment for wound healing. This systematic review aimed to summarize currently available evidence on the effect of oral or enteral probiotic therapy on skin or oral mucosal wound healing in humans. To verify the developments in this field and the level of available scientific evidence, we applied a broad search strategy with no restrictions on wound type, target population, probiotic strain, or intervention protocol used. This review included seven studies involving 348 individuals. Four studies reported positive outcomes for healing improvement after probiotic therapy, and none of the studies reported adverse effects or a marked increase in wound healing time. The positive or neutral results observed do not generate strong evidence regarding the effectiveness of probiotics for wound healing. However, they suggest a promising field for future clinical research where the probiotic strains used, type of wounds, and target population are controlled for. 相似文献
