Bullous pemphigoid following radiotherapy

We report the case of a 57-year-old woman who developed bullous pemphigoid 3 weeks after electron beam radiotherapy. The bullac were confined to the area of the radiation field and responded to topical clobetasol propionate 0.05% cream (Dermovate®). This is the second case of bullous pemphigoid confined to an area of previous radiotherapy. Radiotherapy may be a rare trigger for the development of bullous pemphigoid.     

Neurological complications of systemic sclerosis-a report of three cases and review of the literature

We report three cases of systemic sclerosis demonstrating four different neurological complications: trigeminal neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, carpal-tunnel syndrome and prolonged response to local anaesthesia. A review of the literature reveals a wide range of neurological abnormalities associated with systemic sclerosis. When they occur, these are often presenting features.     

Papular urticaria produced by the mite Listrophorus gibbus

A case is reported of a child who developed papular urticaria as a result of contact with the mite Listrophorus gibbus infesting her pet rabbit. Where the source of an arthropod bite response is not immediately apparent, it is as well to investigate all possible animal contacts of the affected individual.     

Naproxen pseudoporphyria in a patient with vitiligo

A case of pseudoporphyria attributable to naproxen is described. It is significant that in this case hullae developed only in areas of vitiligo on the dorsa of the hands.     

Post-irradiation digitate keratoses

A patient is described in whom multiple small digitate keratoses developed as a cutaneous sequel of radiotherapy. To my knowledge this phenomenon has not previously been reported.     

Self-Assessment: A Personalized Approach to Nursing During Pregnancy

A Prenatal Self-Assessment questionnaire was developed to aid in personalizing nursing care in a large medical center prenatal clinic. The questionnaire complements the standard prenatal record, which is intended primarily to document medical findings and treatment. The tool was used with more than 100 mothers who were receptive to this approach. The women's responses to questions about their feelings and thoughts concerning their pregnancies facilitated identification of potential problems and provided a basis for individualized and comprehensive care.
