ObjectiveTo assess the effectiveness and safety of modified silicone gel sheets applied to hypertrophic scars and keloids following laparoscopic surgery.MethodsPatients who had undergone laparoscopic surgery and who had either conventional or modified silicone gel sheets affixed to their surgical lesions for 6 months postoperatively (treatment groups), and control patients who had not received postsurgical treatment involving silicone gel sheets, were enrolled. The surgical wounds were assessed visually and using the Japan Scar Workshop (JSW) Scar Scale. Patients were interviewed before, 3 months after, and 6 months after sheet affixation.ResultsA total of 45 patients were included, comprising 15 patients per group. Both silicone gel-sheet groups had significantly lower JSW Scar Scale scores at 3 and 6 months after affixation compared with controls. The scores were not significantly different between the conventional and modified treatment groups and no adverse events were observed in the latter.ConclusionsModified silicone gel sheets were more effective than controls and comparable to conventional gel sheets, and there were no adverse events related to laparoscopic surgical wounds in the improved silicone gel sheet group, demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of the modified silicone gel sheets. 相似文献

Summary. Haemophilia B is extremely rare in females and so far 20 cases have been reported. A 9-year-old girl with severe haemophilia symptoms is described, who shows a very low level of factor IX activity (1.5%) and antigen (> 10%), normal XX female karyotype and negative family history of bleeding tendency or consanguinity. This case is probably the fourth report of sporadic female haemophilia B without chromosomal aberration and the first one with quantitative analysis by immunoradiometric assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of factor IX antigen. This very low factor IX level and severe bleeding tendency of the patient would be consistent with the homozygous state, but since a double mutation is extremely rare the patient's laboratory findings can be more easily explained by extreme lyonization of the normal X-chromosome of a heterozygous carrier. 相似文献

Intracranial germ cell tumors (iGCTs) are the second most common brain tumors among children under 15 in Japan. The pathogenesis of iGCTs is largely unexplored. Although a subset of iGCTs is known to have KIT mutation, its impact on the biology and patients’ survival has not been established. In this study, we investigated genes involved in the KIT signaling pathway. 65 iGCTs (30 pure germinomas, 14 teratomas, 18 mixed GCTs, 2 yolk sac tumors, 1 choriocarcinoma) were screened for mutation of KIT, KRAS, NRAS, HRAS, BRAF, PDGFRA, and IDH1 by direct sequencing. KIT expression was examined by immunohistochemistry and quantitative PCR. Chromosomal status was analyzed by array-comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH). Somatic mutations were detected only in KIT and RAS, which were frequently observed in pure germinomas (60.0 %), but rare in non-germinomatous GCTs (NGGCTs) (8.6 %). All KIT/RAS mutations were mutually exclusive. Regardless of the mutation status or mRNA expression, the KIT protein was expressed in all germinomas, while only in 54.3 % of NGGCTs. Amplification of KIT was found in one pure germinoma by aCGH. In pure germinomas, high expression of KIT mRNA was associated with the presence of KIT/RAS alterations and severe chromosomal instability. Our results indicate that alterations of the KIT signaling pathway play an important role in the development of germinomas. Pure germinomas may develop through two distinct pathogeneses: one with KIT/RAS alterations, elevated KIT mRNA expression and severe chromosomal instability, and the other through yet an unidentified mechanism without any of the above abnormalities. 相似文献

We recently developed PA-8, a novel small-molecule antagonist of PACAP type 1 (PAC1) receptor. In the present study, we examined whether PA-8 was effective against formalin-induced inflammatory pain in mice. Both intrathecal and oral administration of PA-8 resulted in the dose-dependent attenuation of the second phase of formalin-induced nociceptive responses. PA-8 also inhibited c-fos upregulation in the ipsilateral dorsal horn of the spinal cord. The results suggested that PACAP-PAC1 receptor signaling system in the spinal cord were primarily involved in the transmission of inflammatory pain, and PA-8 could be useful for the development of novel analgesics for treating inflammatory pain. 相似文献
