Tuberculosis is a chronic mycobacterial infection. The main effector cells against mycobacterium tuberculosis are CD4+ T lymphocytes. Our objective in this research was to evaluate the quantity of T lymphocytes and their subpopulations before and after treatments with combination of 4 drugs (Rifampcin, Isoniaside, pyrasinamide, Ethambutal) for 2 months directly in sputum-positive tuberculosis patients. Twenty patients as cases and twenty healthy people were selected as controls. Flow cytometry was used for TCD3+, TCD4+ and TCD8+ lymphocytes by using monoclonal antibodies. Our results indicated that there was alteration in cell mediated immunity during tuberculosis showing itself as decrease in TCD3+ and TCD4+ lymphocytes and increase in TCD8+ lymphocytes. The changes in TCD3+ and TCD4+ but not in TCD8+ were reversible after 2 months of treatment.  相似文献

The multicomponent reaction between 2-naphthol, arylaldehydes and ammonia yields aminobenzylnaphthols in a process known as the Betti reaction, which was first uncovered at the beginning of the 20th century. Various methods have been reported for the synthesis of aminobenzylnaphthol (Betti base) and bis-Betti base derivatives using various types of naphthols, aromatic amines, heteroaromatic amines, and aliphatic and cyclic amines instead of ammonia or diamines and aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes or dialdehyde compounds under various conditions in recent years. The Betti reaction produces racemic and non-racemic aminobenzylnaphthol ligands. It is also clear that the most important area of application of the non-racemic aminonaphthols prepared in this manner is their use in asymmetric synthesis, either as chiral ligands or as chiral auxiliaries. The functional groups in these Mannich products offer many ring closure possibilities. Some of these products or the starting bifunctional compounds possess biological activity. Herein, we present a selection of the relevant studies on this topic.

The study was planned to determine the efficacy and safety of adding rosiglitazone to a combination of glimepiride and metformin therapy with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes. This was an open-label study with a follow-up period of 26 weeks. Thirty patients were taking 3 mg glimepiride two times and 850 mg metformin two times per day. Patients were told to take one rosiglitazone 4 mg tablet before breakfast additionally. The primary efficacy measure was the mean change in HbA1c from baseline to the end of the study. Secondary efficacy parameters included the mean changes from baseline to the end of the study in fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and insulin levels, as well as total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglycerides, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels. Mean HbA1c levels decreased significantly from 7.54 +/- 0.9% to 6.57 +/- 0.7% (p < 0.001) at 26th week. FPG levels fell from 169.39 +/- 37.8 mg/dl to 135.69 +/- 28.0 mg/dl (p < 0.001), respectively. Insulin levels decreased from 19.60 +/- 9.8 U/L to 14.66 +/- 11.6 U/L (p = 0.026) at 26th week. No one experienced elevations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels greater than 2.5 times the upper limit of the reference range. This study confirms that the addition of rosiglitazone (4 mg/day) to sulphonylurea and metformin treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes improves glycemic control, is safe, and generally well tolerated.  相似文献

This study showed a rare case of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) with atypical manifestations accompanied by chronic lymphocytic leukemia of B‐cell type that underwent chemotherapy and had poor prognosis. The findings suggest that the physicians should consider MCC when performing diagnosis and assess all possible associated risk factors like neoplasms to achieve good prognosis.  相似文献

AimsThe rising prevalence of metabolic syndrome has made it a major health concern. Chronic occupational exposure to organic solvents affects different systems of the body. This study aimed to investigate the association between exposure to organic solvents and the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in petroleum refinery workers.MethodThis study was conducted in 2019–2020 on workers employed in an Iranian petroleum refinery. The demographic and occupational information on the participants was obtained using the interview method. Their height, weight, and blood pressure were measured by the occupational health team, and fasting blood samples were taken from them to measure the paraclinical parameters.ResultsIn this study, 1009 petroleum refinery workers were analyzed. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in workers was 20.1% and it was about two times higher in exposed workers (CI 95%: 1.61–3.35) compared to non-exposed ones. Factors associated with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome include age, higher BMI, exercise, and longer exposure to organic solvents.ConclusionFindings of this study suggested that exposure to organic solvents is associated with increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome (the highest association was observed with elevated serum triglycerides). Besides, longer exposure to organic solvents increased the risk of developing metabolic syndrome.  相似文献

Current models of speech and language processing postulate the involvement of two parallel processing streams (the dual stream model): a ventral stream involved in mapping sensory and phonological representations onto lexical and conceptual representations and a dorsal stream contributing to sound‐to‐motor mapping, articulation, and to how verbal information is encoded and manipulated in memory. Based on previous evidence showing that music training has an influence on language processing, cognitive functions, and word learning, we examined EEG‐based intracranial functional connectivity in the ventral and dorsal streams while musicians and nonmusicians learned the meaning of novel words through picture–word associations. In accordance with the dual stream model, word learning was generally associated with increased beta functional connectivity in the ventral stream compared to the dorsal stream. In addition, in the linguistically most demanding “semantic task,” musicians outperformed nonmusicians, and this behavioral advantage was accompanied by increased left‐hemispheric theta connectivity in both streams. Moreover, theta coherence in the left dorsal pathway was positively correlated with the number of years of music training. These results provide evidence for a complex interplay within a network of brain regions involved in semantic processing and verbal memory functions, and suggest that intensive music training can modify its functional architecture leading to advantages in novel word learning.  相似文献
