Nitrierungsprodukte von Antazolin und Bamipin und deren Meisenheimer Verbindungen mit Aceton und Basen

Nitro Products of Antazoline and Bamipine and Their Meisenheimer Compounds with Acetone and Bases Under the conditions of the Vitali-Morin reaction, antazoline and bamipine are nitrated to yield 17 nitro compounds, namely 1a/2b, 1b/2d, 1c, 1d/2e, 1e, 1f, 1g/2g, 2a, 2c, 2f, 2h–2n . Of these 1b/2d, 1c, 1e–1g/2g, 2a, 2c, 2h–2l produce coloured products when treated with bases in acetone. The coloured products 3a/b, 4a/b, 5a/b and 7 are Meisenheimer cyclohexadienate and propenide salts.

Beckmann-Rearrangement of Stereoisomeric Pyridone Ketoximes Beckmann rearrangement (PCl₅/ether) of the pyridone (E)-and (Z)-ketoximes 3 proceeds without isomerization. (E)-Oximes yield the acylated aminopyridones 4 , (Z)-oximes form the oxopyridine-carboxamides 6 . Structures are assigned on the basis of mass and nmr spectra and by comparison of the products with authentic samples.     

Clinical Assessment of Gestational Age

There is disagreement among authors as to what criteria are most reliable in assessing postnatal fetal age. A comparison–for objectivity, accuracy, and frequency of use– of specific criteria was made using three independent examiners at different educational levels: a second-year medical student, a perinatal nurse practitioner, and a pediatrics resident. It was shown that trained examiners develop favorite criteria which differ among examiners and thus sacrifice accuracy; however, accurate assessment of fetal age can be accomplished by an examiner with minimum clinical knowledge.     

The influence of venous occlusion on xenon 133 muscle clearance.

Progressive degrees of venous occlusion in the canine hind limb were employed to evaluate the influence of venous disease on the xenon 133 muscle washout test. Increasing degrees of venous occlusion, from superficial venous occlusion alone to total occlusion induced with intravenously administered thrombin, decreased both resting muscle blood flow and maximal muscle blood flow stimulated with intra-arterially administered papaverine hydrochloride. This alteration lasted for varying lengths of time with all but the group with total venous occlusion eventually returning to a normal flow. The status of the venous circulation must be considered in order to accurately interpret the results of the 133Xe clearance test when used to evaluate arterial occlusive disease. The 133Xe washout test may be an accurate indicator of venous occlusion in a limb with normal arterial supply.     

Effect of diazoxide on renal handling of sodium in the rat.

1. To assess whether diazoxide-induced sodium retention is due to a direct renal action of the durg, independent of its systemic haemodynamic effects, diazoxide was infused directly into one renal artery of hydropenic rats. During the infusion period there was a small fall in mean systemic arterial blood pressure. There were no significant changes in the clearances of inulin or p-aminohippurate by either kidney. 2. Absolute and fractional excretion of sodium were unchanged on the non-infused side. On the side of infusion, there was a significant increase in absolute and in fractional sodium excretion. 3.Thus natriuresis rather than sodium retention seems to be the direct renal effect of diazoxide and may be related to its vasodilator properties.     

Acetyl-CoA carboxylase activities in blood and liver of chicks and their dependency on biotin status.

Acetyl-CoA carboxylase activities from whole blood and, in some of the experiments, from liver were found to be lower in biotin-deficient chicks compared with controls. In vitro stimulation of liver acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity by biotin appeared to be a better index for the evaluation of the biotin status than measuring the enzyme activity alone.
