A direct solution is proposed to an optimal control problem of linear econometric systems with a quadratic welfare loss function when there are linear equality constraints on the control variables. The direct solution proposed here eliminates the problem of non-uniqueness of the optimal solution, which is present when this optimal control problem is solved using the recursive algorithm proposed by Chow,1 Pindyck2 and Tan.3 If a unique solution to the optimal control problem exists, then the direct solution and the recursive solution coincide.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Zur Klärung möglicher Ursachenfaktoren, die zur Entstehung einer Laterogenie beitragen, wurden 22 Patienten nach klinisch funktionellen Kriterien ausgewählt und computertomographisch untersucht. Durch die bessere Vergleichbarkeit überlagerungsfrei abgebildeter morphologischer Strukturen im Computertomogramm konnte eine Einteilung in vier Ursachenbereiche erfolgen, innerhalb derer verschiedene asymmetrische Einzelabweichungen analysiert und diskutiert wurden. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß die computertomographisch strukturelle Analyse bei dieser Problemstellung anderen Untersuchungsmethoden überlegen ist und im Einzelfall neue Anhaltspunkte für eine prognostische Abschätzung weiterer Entwicklungstendenzen bietet.
Summary To determine the possible reasons, contributing to the formation of laterogenia, 22 patients were investigated by computer tomography. The patients were selected according to clinical and functional criteria. As CT gives a more accurate comparison of structures without superimposition it was possible to subdivide the causative factors into four groups. Within each of them, different asymmetric deviations could be analysed and discussed. It was shown, that structural-CT analysis is superior to other methods of investigation, particularly for this kind of problem. Furthermore it provides new criteria for a prognostic evaluation of development.

Résumé Pour rechercher les causes qui contribuent à la formation d'une latérogénie, on avait examiné 22 patients, sélectionnés par leur aspect clinique et fonctionnel, à l'aide d'un computer analysant des tomographies. Grâce à ce computer, la meilleure comparaison des structures, représentées sans superposition, donnait la possibilité d'en classifier les causes en quatre catégories, dans lesquelles on analysait et discutait les différentes déviations asymétriques. Il est évident, que dans ces problèmes l'analyse computertomographique-structurelle surpasse d'autres méthodes d'examen et qu'elle offre de nouveaux critères pour prévoir d'autres tendances du développement.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The adverse effects of untreated seasonal allergic rhinitis (AR) on performance in the workplace, school, and home are poorly understood. To delineate more clearly the impact and consequences of the disease on performance, the effect of symptomatic AR on vigilance and a wide range of cognitive functions was investigated. METHODS: A battery of automated neuropsychological tests was administered to asymptomatic adult subjects with histories of AR. Subjects were randomized to either a symptomatic or to an asymptomatic group. Subjects in the symptomatic group were exposed to ragweed pollen in a controlled exposure setting until they demonstrated predetermined severities of AR symptoms. Subjects in the asymptomatic group were not exposed to ragweed pollen in the environmental unit and retained a minimum symptom profile. The battery of cognitive measures was re-administered to both groups. RESULTS: AR had major adverse impacts on measures of vigilance. Further, AR adversely affected a broad range of cognitive functions. Specifically, subjects with AR symptoms demonstrated longer response times and decreased efficiency on measures of working memory, psychomotor speed, reasoning/computation, and divided attention as compared with asymptomatic subjects. CONCLUSIONS: In addition to decreased vigilance, AR was associated with decrements in speed and efficiency across several cognitive domains. This is similar to findings in research on medications and medical conditions that cause sedation. Findings may represent a link between AR and poor productivity/personal safety among AR sufferers. This suggests that these results have implications with regard to public health.  相似文献

Summary Single-chain toxin was investigated in vitro and in vivo for limited proteolysis into the fully active two-chain toxin. Plasmin from serum, elastase and gelatinase from leucocytes, as well as clostripain from C. histolyticum cleaved single-chain toxin and increased by that way its ability to inhibit [3H]noradrenaline release in vitro. Cultured mouse brain generated fragments from 125I-single-chain toxin which were cell-associated. Some of them comigrated in electrophoresis with light and heavy chain after mercaptolysis. When injected i. v. into rats, 125I-single-chain-toxin disappeared from the blood with a half-life of about 11 h without signs of nicking. However, after its injection into the triceps surae muscle both single- and two-chain toxin were found in the ipsilateral ventral horn of the spinal cord. Thus single-chain toxin is subjected to limited proteolysis by enzymes involved in tissue damage, by cultured brain tissue, and during or after its retrograde axonal transport to the spinal cord. Limited proteolysis is necessary for the release of the light chain known to mediate the action of toxin on several systems.  相似文献

Summary Substance P (SP), a potent inflammatory agent, has been found in sensory nerve fibres in the nasal mucosa in several experimental animals as well as in man. It may participate in the inflammatory response as part of the mucosal defence against foreign materials. In experimental animals SP has been found to increase mucociliary in airway mucosa. The present study was performed in order to find out the relationship between topically applied SP and nasal mucociliary function in humans. Thirteen healthy volunteers were challenged with 65 µg SP or placebo in a randomized cross over fashion and mucociliary transport time was determined each time using the saccharine dye test. The dose of SP was chosen after an open dose-response study. No statistically significant change in the mucociliary transport time was found after challenge with SP as compared to placebo. The possible reasons for this are discussed.  相似文献

Intestinal mucosal mast cells (IMMCs) are closely apposed to nerves, which is consistent with other evidence suggesting that mast cells are innervated. Recent studies have indicated that coordinated changes in mast cell and nerve densities occur in the gut mucosa, during progressive fibrosis, but there is a lack of experimental evidence to support remodeling of intestinal nerve fibers as part of a disease process. Infection of rats with the nematode Nippostrongylus brasiliensis (Nb) results in an initial loss of stainable IMMCs, during an acute inflammatory phase, with subsequent mast cell hyperplasia. Accordingly, we employed the Nb model to look for structural neuroplasticity of intestinal mucosal nerves during inflammation. Immunocytochemical labeling of neurofilament subunits was very low in the jejunal mucosa of all animals, whereas neuron-specific enolase (NSE)-immunoreactive nerves were relatively abundant in control animals. The number of NSE-immunoreactive profiles increased approximately 2.5-fold by day 10 (d10) postinfection (p less than 0.01) and returned to near control values by d14. Immunoreactivity for B-50/GAP-43 was more extensive, labeling more than four times the number of nerves per villus, compared with NSE (p less than 0.0001). B-50 immunoreactivity decreased minimally (ca. 20%) by d7 postinfection, and then increased through control values between d10 and d21, to 30% greater than controls at d49 (p less than 0.05). Subclassification of the B-50-immunoreactive nerves according to cross-sectional area revealed a greater than twofold increase in the proportions of large fibers at d7 and d10. Subsequently, the proportions of small nerves were increased compared with controls. The fiber size changes were found to correlate with mast cell densities (r = -0.72 for large and r = 0.76 for small nerves). At d10, dilated B-50- and NSE-immunoreactive nerves predominated, and extraneuronal NSE was noted. Electron microscopy revealed that this was due to axonal dilation and degeneration. These data provide evidence for plasticity of intestinal mucosal nerve fibers during inflammation. This includes early degenerative and later regenerative phases that appear to correlate with mast cell densities. The phenotype of mucosal nerves in control animals suggests ongoing modeling of these fibers.  相似文献

Iliac artery aneurysms may present with a transrectally palpable mass, hematuria, bladder outlet obstruction, ureteral obstruction, retroperitoneal fibrosis or renal failure. d-Amphetamine, 4-OH amphetamine, and epinephrine have been shown in many behavioral studies to facilitate memory when given post-training. The effect of these drugs on the maintained discharge of cells in the locus coeruleus (LC) was investigated using a route of administration (intraperitoneal) and a log-dose range of these drugs comparable to those used in the behavioral experiments.d-Amphetamine profoundly suppressed maintained discharge: an inhibitory effect was observed at every dose (0.1, 1.0, 10.0 mg/kg). In contrast, only the highest dose of 4-OH amphetamine (8.2 mg/kg) inhibited activity in the LC, and this effect was a modest one. Unlike the amphetamines, epinephrine (500 μ/kg) elevated maintained discharge. These results are discussed in the contex of the hypothesized involvement of the LC in the enhancement of memory by these drugs.  相似文献
