Teeth from the C57BL/6J-Hyp mouse (Hyp mouse) were examined histologically, radiographically, and crystallographically. Microscopic examinations of the ground sections, the decalcified and H-E-stained sections, and the contact microradiograms of molars and incisors from the Hyp mouse showed several abnormalities--such as large pulp chamber, wide predentin, thin dentin at the pulp floor, and multiple occurrences of interglobular dentin. Powder and microbeam x-ray diffraction analyses showed that the crystallinity of hydroxyapatite in incisor globular dentin from the Hyp mouse was higher than that in incisor dentin from the normal mouse. On the other hand, the findings of transmission electron microscopy demonstrated that the sizes of hydroxyapatite crystals of globular dentin in the Hyp incisor were larger than those in normal incisor dentin. These results demonstrated that the findings in Hyp mouse teeth were in accord with those of human XLH teeth.  相似文献

The brachial plexus of rabbits was stretched until mechanical failure. The level and site of rupture varied according to the direction of the stretching force. Upward and lateral traction of the forelimbs caused spinal nerve-root avulsions combined with nerve-trunk ruptures distal to the dorsal root ganglions. In such tractions the C5 nerves consistently exhibited postganglionic nerve-trunk rupture. The C6, C7, and C8 nerves had root avulsions. The T1 nerve was avulsed from the spinal cord in 7 cases out of 10; the other 3 cases had postganglionic nerve-trunk rupture. Downward traction of the forelimbs caused nerve avulsions from the scapulohumeral muscles innervated by the terminal branches of the brachial plexus and peripheral nerve ruptures in the course of the arm. The force producing trunk rupture of the C6 nerve was twice as great as that for root avulsion. The required stain was similar for nerve trunk rupture and root avulsion.  相似文献

Recent work has shown that high-density lipoprotein (HDL) isolated from human atherosclerotic lesions and the blood of patients with established coronary artery disease contains elevated levels of 3-nitrotyrosine and 3-chlorotyrosine. A higher nitrotyrosine content in lipoprotein is significantly associated with diminished cholesterol efflux capacity of the lipoprotein. Since accelerated atherogenesis is a key complication of diabetes mellitus, and nitrosative stress has recently been implicated in diabetic pathology, we set out to demonstrate an increase in the circulating levels of nitrated apolipoprotein A (apoA)-I in type 2 diabetic patients and its putative correlation with metabolic biomarkers. In this work we addressed this hypothesis in a case-control study with 30 type 2 diabetic patients and 30 age-matched control subjects. Nitrated apoA-I was 3280+/-1910 absorbance peak area/apoA-I (g/L) for diabetic patients and 2320+/-890 for control subjects (p<0.037). This represents a 50% increase in circulating nitrated apoA-I in diabetic patients to age-matched controls. Diabetic patients also showed increases of a similar magnitude in circulating advanced glycation endproducts measured as pentosidine fluorescence (44.16+/-16.26 vs. 30.84+/-12.86 AU; p<0.01) and in circulating lipoperoxides (46.0+/-18.0 vs. 37.2+/-18.0 nmol/L; p<0.03). No significant correlation was found between nitration of apoA-I and glycosylated hemoglobin or any of the other parameters measured. If proven in subsequent functional and in vivo studies, increased nitrated apoA-I would represent another mechanism by which nitrosative stress participates in diabetic macro-angiopathy.  相似文献

Follicular lymphoma is clinically classified as a common type of indolent non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma, and its clinical diagnosis is difficult because B symptoms and elevated soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) levels are less frequent in follicular lymphoma than in other lymphomas. We report a case of follicular lymphoma masquerading immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) with elevated IgG4 levels. A 67-year-old man presented to our hospital with a 1-year history of deep right supraclavicular and para-aortic lymph node lymphadenopathy on plain computed tomography (CT) findings along with elevated IgG4 levels, and the 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan showed heterogeneous diffuse FDG uptake in the liver, and FDG uptake was noted at multiple sites in the enlarged right supraclavicular and para-aortic lymph nodes. Excisional biopsy of the right supraclavicular lymph node, performed under general anesthesia, showed a tumor-like structure mimicking a normal germinal center in the lymphoid follicle; immunostaining was positive for B-cell lymphoma 2 and CD10 proteins with some plasma cells stained with IgG, only 30% of them were positive for IgG4, and no marked fibrosis characteristic of IgG4-RD was observed; therefore, follicular lymphoma was diagnosed, and all symptoms, including FDG uptake, improved with rituximab monotherapy. Differential diagnoses of slowly progressive generalized lymphadenopathy over the years with elevated serum IgG4 levels include IgG4-RD, Castleman''s disease, and indolent lymphoma. Multiple accumulation in the liver on FDG-PET/CT, if found, may suggest indolent lymphoma among them.  相似文献
