Childhood is an important time for the manifestation of psychopathology. Psychopathology is characterized by considerable comorbidity which is mirrored in the underlying neural correlates of psychopathology. Both common and dissociable variations in brain volume have been found across multiple mental disorders in adult and youth samples. However, the majority of these studies used samples with broad age ranges which may obscure developmental differences. The current study examines associations between regional gray matter volumes (GMV) and psychopathology in a large sample of children with a narrowly defined age range. We used data from 9607 children 9–10 years of age collected as part of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive DevelopmentSM Study (ABCD Study®). A bifactor model identified a general psychopathology factor that reflects common variance across disorders and specific factors representing internalizing symptoms, ADHD symptoms, and conduct problems. Brain volume was acquired using 3T MRI. After correction for multiple testing, structural equation modeling revealed nearly global inverse associations between regional GMVs and general psychopathology and conduct problems, with associations also found for ADHD symptoms (pfdr-values ≤ 0.048). Age, sex, and race were included as covariates. Sensitivity analyses including total GMV or intracranial volume (ICV) as covariates support this global association, as a large majority of region-specific results became nonsignificant. Sensitivity analyses including income, parental education, and medication use as additional covariates demonstrate largely convergent results. These findings suggest that globally smaller GMVs are a nonspecific risk factor for general psychopathology, and possibly for conduct problems and ADHD as well.Subject terms: Human behaviour, Risk factors, Neuroscience  相似文献

Cancer related stroke may have different phenotypes from non-cancer stroke, especially in terms of stroke progression and recurrence. We performed a case–control study to identify their incidences and risk factors in cancer related stroke. Between January 2001 and December 2009, we conducted a retrospective review of acute ischemic stroke patients with cancer who were admitted to Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea. The stroke patients without cancer served as control. We collected demographic variables, vascular risk factors, stroke phenotype, clinical course, and cancer information including diagnosis, stage, and treatment status. Among cancer stroke patients, the potential risk factor of stroke recurrence was evaluated. The mean age of the 102 cancer patients was 66.4 ± 10.8 years, and 64.7 % were men. The mean time interval from cancer diagnosis to stroke onset was 39.7 ± 60.9 months. The principal lesion pattern of cancer stroke was multiple dots extending single vascular territory (39.2 %), and they were associated with low hemoglobin and high fibrinogen levels. Stroke progression and recurrence were noted in 9.8 and 27.5 % of cancer stroke patients, and in 9.3 and 12.7 % of control patients, respectively. The stroke subtype was independently associated with recurrence of cancer stroke after multiple logistic regression (odds ratio = 3.165, 95 % confidence interval = 1.080–9.277, p = 0.036). Cancer related stroke has a distinct phenotype in terms of infarction pattern and laboratory findings. Stroke recurrence is frequently observed among cancer stroke patients, and its risk is related with stroke subtype.  相似文献

Cardiac involvement in Churg–Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a major cause of mortality. Here we report a case of a 75‐year‐old woman with eosinophilic endomyocarditis due to CSS. An electrocardiogram showed intraventricular conduction delay, and echocardiography showed an impaired relaxation pattern and biventricular apical thickening. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed subendocardial delayed enhancement with biventricular apical thrombi. Endomyocardial biopsy showed perivascular eosinophilic infiltration. Despite resolution of the hypereosinophilia after steroid therapy, her left ventricular (LV) diastolic function worsened into a restrictive pattern and she died with a ventricular escape rhythm on her 14th day in the hospital. This case is unusual in that there was rapid progression of the LV diastolic dysfunction and conduction disturbance due to CSS.  相似文献

Within the mode-coupling theory (MCT) of the glass transition, we reconsider the numerical schemes to evaluate the MCT functional. Here we propose nonuniform discretizations of the wave number, in contrast to the standard equidistant grid, in order to decrease the number of grid points without losing accuracy. We discuss in detail how the integration scheme on the new grids has to be modified from standard Riemann integration. We benchmark our approach by solving the MCT equations numerically for mono-disperse hard disks and hard spheres and by computing the critical packing fraction and the nonergodicity parameters. Our results show that significant improvements in performance can be obtained employing a nonuniform grid.  相似文献

IOX4, a hypoxia-inducible factor stabilizer, is classified as a banned substance for horses in both horse racing and equestrian sports. We recently reported the pharmacokinetic profiles of IOX4 in horse plasma and urine and also identified potential monitoring targets for the doping control purpose. In this study, a long-term longitudinal analysis of IOX4 in horse hair after a nasoesophageal administration of IOX4 (500 mg/day for 3 days) to three thoroughbred mares is presented for the first time for controlling the abuse/misuse of IOX4. Six bunches of mane hair were collected at 0 (pre), 1, 2, 3, and 6 month(s) postadministration. Our results showed that the presence of IOX4 was identified in all postadministration horse hair samples, but no metabolite could be detected. The detection window for IOX4 could achieve up to 6-month postadministration (last sampling point) by monitoring IOX4 in hair. In order to evaluate the longitudinal distribution of IOX4 over 6 months, a validated quantification method of IOX4 in hair was developed for the analysis of the postadministration samples. Segmental analysis of 2-cm cut hair across the entire length of postadministration hair showed that IOX4 could be quantified up to the level of 1.84 pg/mg. In addition, it was found that the movement of the incorporated IOX4 band in the hair shaft over 6 months varied among the three horses due to individual variation and a significant diffusion of IOX4 band up to 10 cm width was also observed in the 6-month postadministration hair samples.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Based on our previous pilot study, the objective of this extended study was to compare (a) casts to their corresponding digital ClinCheck? models at baseline and (b) the tooth movement achieved at the end of aligner therapy (Invisalign?) to the predicted movement in the anterior region. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Pre- and post-treatment casts as well as initial and final ClinChecks? models of 50?patients (15-63?years of age) were analyzed. All patients were treated with Invisalign? (Align Technology, Santa Clara, CA, USA). Evaluated parameters were: upper/lower anterior arch length and intercanine distance, overjet, overbite, dental midline shift, and the irregularity index according to Little. The comparison achieved/predicted tooth movement was tested for equivalence [adjusted 98.57% confidence interval (-?1.00; +?1.00)]. RESULTS: Before treatment the anterior crowding, according to Little, was on average 5.39?mm (minimum 1.50?mm, maximum 14.50?mm) in the upper dentition and 5.96?mm (minimum 2.00?mm, maximum 11.50?mm) in the lower dentition. After treatment the values were reduced to 1.57 mm (minimum 0?mm, maximum 4.5?mm) in the maxilla and 0.82?mm (minimum 0?mm, maximum 2.50?mm) in the mandible. We found slight deviations between pretreatment casts and initialClinCheck? ranging on average from -0.08?mm (SD ±?0.29) for the overjet and up to -0.28?mm (SD ±?0.46) for the upper anterior arch length. The difference between achieved/predicted tooth movements ranged on average from 0.01?mm (SD ±?0.48) for the lower anterior arch length, up to 0.7?mm (SD ±?0.87) for the overbite. All parameters were significantly equivalent except for the overbite (-1.02; -?0.39). CONCLUSION: Performed with aligners (Invisalign?), the resolvement of the partly severe anterior crowding was successfully accomplished. Resolving lower anterior crowding by protrusion of the anterior teeth (i.e., enlargement of the anterior arch length) seems well predictable. The initial ClinCheck? models provided high accuracy compared to the initial casts. The achieved tooth movement was in concordance with the predicted movement for all parameters, except for the overbite.  相似文献

Structural reorganization in white matter (WM) after stroke is a potential contributor to substitute or to newly establish the functional field on the injured brain in nature. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is an imaging modality that can be used to evaluate damage and recovery within the brain. This method of imaging allows for in vivo assessment of the restricted movements of water molecules in WM and provides a detailed look at structural connectivity in the brain. For longitudinal DTI studies after a stroke, the conventional region of interest method and voxel‐based analysis are highly dependent on the user‐hypothesis and parameter settings for implementation. In contrast, tract‐based spatial statistics (TBSS) allows for reliable voxel‐wise analysis via the projection of diffusion‐derived parameters onto an alignment‐invariant WM skeleton. In this study, spatiotemporal WM changes were examined with DTI‐derived parameters (fractional anisotropy, FA; mean diffusivity, MD; axial diffusivity, DA; radial diffusivity, RD) using TBSS 2 h to 6 weeks after experimental focal ischemic stroke in rats (N = 6). FA values remained unchanged 2–4 h after the stroke, followed by a continuous decrease in the ipsilesional hemisphere from 24 h to 2 weeks post‐stroke and gradual recovery from the ipsilesional corpus callosum to the external capsule until 6 weeks post‐stroke. In particular, the fibers in these areas were extended toward the striatum of the ischemic boundary region at 6 weeks on tractography. The alterations of the other parameters in the ipsilesional hemisphere showed patterns of a decrease at the early stage, a subsequent pseudo‐normalization of MD and DA, a rapid reduction of RD, and a progressive increase in MD, DA and RD with a decreased extent in the injured area at later stages. The findings of this study may reflect the ongoing processes on tissue damage and spontaneous recovery after stroke.  相似文献
