The purpose of this research was to conduct a systematic review of published articles related to the effect of recreational football on non-communicable diseases. A systematic review of Web of Science, SPORTDiscus, MEDLINE, and PubMed databases was performed according to PRISMA guidelines. Only empirical studies were included. There were no restrictions on the types of study design eligible for inclusion. The primary outcome measures result from the potential effects of recreational football on non-communicable diseases (eg, blood pressure, bone density, LDL cholesterol, and fat mass). A total of 44 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included. Recreational football is shown to: (a) decrease blood pressure and resting heart rate, improve cardiac structure and functioning, as well as increase maximal oxygen uptake in both sexes; (b) reduce cholesterol and triglycerides levels, increase insulin sensitivity, and have a positive impact on glycemic control; (c) improve bone mineralization, increase both bone mineral density and content, as well as acting as a stimulus for osteogenesis; and (d) be clearly beneficial for bone health, while slightly beneficial for body composition, muscle strength, and maximal oxygen uptake in adults with prostate cancer. The present systematic review demonstrated the benefits of recreational football practice on non-communicable diseases related to cardiovascular and bone health, body composition, type 2 diabetes, and prostate cancer. The effectiveness of recreational football on the aforementioned diseases may be related to age and gender; however, further research is required. 相似文献

In most cases involving jaw lesions, a biopsy and a histopathological analysis are necessary to establish the final diagnosis. However, biopsy may be a complex procedure at some maxillomandibular sites, and some systemic conditions could contraindicate the procedure. Thus, a search for new, less invasive techniques, which could eventually replace biopsy and simplify the diagnostic process, would benefit both professionals and patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cell block technique, prepared from the aspiration of luminal contents, in the preoperative diagnosis of keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KCOT). From 135 cases of lesions aspirated and processed by the cell block technique, we selected those containing keratin. In all cases selected, histological diagnosis was based on surgical biopsy. From 20 cases containing keratin in the cytological analyses, 19 were KCOTs and one was an orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC). In all KCOT cases, we observed the presence of parakeratin, even in those with intense inflammation. In the cytological analysis of the OOC, parakeratin was not observed. In conclusion, there is strong evidence that KCOT can be confidently diagnosed preoperatively by cytological analyses of lesions punctured and processed by the cell block technique. 相似文献

Epidermoid cysts are benign subcutaneous lesions, and the large majority of these cysts affect the floor of the mouth; however, the buccal mucosa is not the usual site of occurrence. To date, only 5 articles have been published with 6 cases of epidermoid cysts arising in the buccal mucosa. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical features of a case of an epidermoid cyst located in the buccal mucosa. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an oral epidermoid cyst describing an intense foreign body gigantocellular inflammatory reaction against epithelial keratin component. Although the usual diagnosis for epidermoid cysts is based on histopathological findings, this case report addresses novel information regarding the immunohistochemical pattern which may be found in these lesions. 相似文献

The number of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a group of diseases mainly represented by Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), has increased in recent decades. As a consequence, the number of people undergoing any drug treatment against these diseases has expanded. However, IBD conventional therapies present several limitations, which lead researchers to look for better alternatives to improve the quality of life of patients. Moreover, microbiome imbalance seems to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of IBD, since important alterations in bacterial, viral, protist and fungal populations are observed in the gut microbiota of affected individuals. Given the importance of such life forms in that context, the use of probiotics becomes a plausible alternative for treating affected patients. Trials have been developed aiming the evaluation of probiotics potential to induce and to maintain remission in CD and UC. Regarding the tested microorganisms, various non-pathogenic bacteria and fungi have been assessed. However, consistent results have been obtained only with some of them, including Escherichia coli Nissle 1917, VSL#3, Saccharomyces boulardii, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium. Therefore, this minireview aims to explore the role of microbiota in the genesis of such a disorder and to compile the most concrete data on probiotic-related efficiency in IBD treatment. 相似文献

Juvenile gangrenous vasculitis of the scrotum is a rare entity of unknown aetiology which should be considered in the differential diagnosis of genital ulcers, mainly with those caused by sexually transmitted infections. The authors report a case of a 23-year-old patient who presented a single painful scrotal ulcer developing shortly after an episode of pharyngotonsillitis. BP100, a short antimicrobial peptide, produces membrane perturbations that depend on lipid structure and charge, salts presence, and peptide/lipid molar ratios. As membrane perturbation mechanisms are not fully understood, the atomic scale nature of peptide/membrane interactions requires a close-up view analysis. Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations are valuable tools for describing molecular interactions at the atomic level. Here, we use MD simulations to investigate alterations in membrane properties consequent to BP100 binding to zwitterionic and anionic model membranes. We focused on membrane property changes upon peptide binding, namely membrane thickness, order parameters, surface curvature, lipid lateral diffusion and membrane hydration. In agreement with experimental results, our simulations showed that, when buried into the membrane, BP100 causes a decrease in lipid lateral diffusion and lipid acyl-chain order parameters and sharp local membrane thinning. These effects were most pronounced on the closest lipids in direct contact with the membrane-bound peptide. In DPPG and anionic-aggregate-containing DPPC/DPPG membranes, peptide flip (rotation of its non-polar facet towards the membrane interior) induced marked negative membrane curvature and enhanced the water residence half-life time in the lipid hydrophobic core and transmembrane water transport in the direction of the peptide. These results further elucidate the consequences of the initial interaction of cationic alpha-helical antimicrobial peptides with membranes.MD simulations reveal that BP100 peptide induces local membrane thinning and negative curvature, slows lipid dynamics and increases the water life time in the lipid hydrophobic core and transmembrane water transport in the direction of the peptide. 相似文献
