回春液由人参、鹿茸、貂鞭等名贵中药组成。有补肾助阳,填精益气等功效。药效学研究证实,该药有促进幼鼠发育及增加去势大鼠前列腺——精液囊的重量,亦显著增加小鼠血红蛋白的含量,表明回春液有雄性激素样作用。     

Treatment of gonococcal infection: an analysis of cases treated over ten years at Tokai University Hospital

The results of gonococcal infection treatment at Tokai University Hospital during the past decade were summarized. Symptoms and signs of gonococcal urethritis and their therapeutic responses were essentially the same as in other series previously reported. Among drug regimens employed, penicillins were found most effective while cephalosporins proved to be relatively less effective. One-shot therapy with cephalosporins also proved less satisfactory.     

Results of percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration and intracytoplasmic sperm injection in two major groups of patients with obstructive azoospermia

Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) were carried out in patients with congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD) and men with failed reversal of vasectomy (FRV). PESA was successful in 55 out of 62 patients with CBAVD (89%) and in 57 out of 60 men with FRV (95%). The fertilization rates after ICSI (53 and 55%), cleavage rates (70 and 76%) and pregnancy rates (36 and 32%) did not differ significantly between the two respective groups (CBAVD and FRV). PESA and ICSI are effective both in patients with CBAVD and in those with FRV.      

Autoradiographic and cytochemical localization of androgen in human prostatic cancer cell lines

For basic studies of receptor dynamics in androgen-responsive tissues and cells, the autoradiographic and cytochemical procedures were applied to cultured tumor cells (DU-145 and PC-3). Uptake and retention of 3H-R1881, a potent synthetic androgen, were observed in DU-145 cells. The radioactive labelling was intense, and solely confined to the nuclei of DU-145 cells. Radioactivity over PC-3 cells was minimal. For assessing binding specificity, DU-145 cells were incubated with 3H-R1881 in the presence or absence of either unlabelled R1881, testosterone, progesterone, estradiol-17 beta, or corticosterone. The displacement of 3H-R1881 with R1881 and testosterone was significant, while no displacement was observed with other steroids. Nuclear localization of cytochemical staining of the dihydrotestosterone-peroxidase conjugate was evident in DU-145 cells. Our results indicate that androgen receptor may reside primarily in target cell nuclei of androgen-responsive tissues and tumors.     

Imiquimod 5% cream is an acceptable treatment option for external anogenital warts in uncircumcised males

OBJECTIVES: To determine the safety and efficacy of imiquimod (Aldara) 5% cream in the treatment of prepuce-associated warts in uncircumcised males. METHODS: An open-label study in six UK medical centres with 35 uncircumcised males with prepuce-associated warts treated with imiquimod 5% cream three times per week for up to 16 weeks. Other anogenital warts were also treated. RESULTS: Three times weekly application of imiquimod was found to be safe, with erythema as the most commonly reported local skin reaction. Forty per cent of patients had complete clearance of anogenital warts within 16 weeks. CONCLUSIONS: Imiquimod cream at a dosing regimen of three times per week, is effective and has an acceptable safety profile in the treatment of prepuce associated warts and other external anogenital warts in uncircumcised males.     

Renal allograft dysfunction with acute hemorrhagic cystitis caused by adenovirus in a recipient of a transplanted kidney

We experienced acute hemorrhagic cystitis with renal dysfunction in a recipient of a transplanted kidney. This acute hemorrhagic cystitis was caused by adenovirus type 11. Either elevation of antibody titers or isolation in urine of adenovirus type 11 was identified in six cases out of 11 in seven reports which we collected. Graft dysfunctions were complicated on seven cases out of 11 in these seven reports. These graft dysfunctions have been considered as an acute rejection, but we suggest that they may be graft nephropathy caused by adenovirus type 11 infection.     

Statistic studies on bacteria isolated from urinary tract infections (report 3)

The following results were obtained from the statistical studies and drug sensitivity tests of bacterial florae isolated from the urinary tract in 1981 and 1982. Of the 2,029 strains isolated from out-patients, 627 (30.9%) were gram positive cocci, 24.1% were E. coli, 9.4% were Proteus spp., 9.2% were Enterococci, 8.9% were S. epidermidis, 7.0 % were K. pneumoniae, 5.7% were P. aeruginosa and the rest were others. Of the 754 strains isolated from hospitalized patients, 276 (36.6%) were gram positive cocci, 16.8% were Enterococci, 11.4% were S. epidermidis, 11.1% were P. aeruginosa, 8.8% were Proteus spp, 7.2% were E.coli, 6.5% were K.pneumoniae and the rest were others. The number of Proteus spp., P. aeruginosa and Enterococci detected in the isolates from the out-patients and that of E.coli, K. pneumoniae and Proteus spp., detected in the isolates from the in-patients were smaller than in previous reports. More non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli and S. epidermidis were detected in the isolates from both patients were than in previous years. The major isolates i.e., 9 species, from out-patients were more susceptible to the antimicrobial agents tested. The susceptibility of TC and SBPC to major isolates was lower than in previous years. During the past two years, we have been routinely using on inpatients the so-called third generation cefem antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections. This might be why the number of isolates of gram positive cocci has increased especially isolates from inpatients.
