[Purpose] The aim of this study was to use surface electromyography (EMG) to investigate
the effects of different foot positioning on bilateral erector spinae (ES) and gluteus
maximus (GM) activation during sit-to-stand performed by individuals with stroke.
[Subjects] Fifteen randomly selected participants with stroke were enrolled in this study.
[Methods] All the participants were asked to perform sit-to-stand (STS) using three
different strategies: (1) symmetric foot position, (2) unaffected foot placed behind the
affected foot position (asymmetric-1), (3) affected foot placed behind the unaffected foot
position (asymmetric-2). An EMG system was used to measure ES and GM muscle activities.
The strategies were performed in a random order, and the mean values of five measurements
were used in the analysis. One-way repeated measure ANOVA was used to determine the
statistical significance of differences between the conditions. [Results] The affected ES
muscle activity was significantly greater in asymmetric-2 (180.7±73.4) than in symmetrical
foot placement (149.8±54.2). In addition, the affected ES, unaffected ES, and affected GM
muscle activity were significantly greater in asymmetric-2 (180.7±73.4, 173.5±83.1,
98.3±90.3 respectively) than in asymmetric-1 foot placement (147.3±53.8, 151.2±76.5,
84.9±73.8 respectively). [Conclusion] Our results suggest that it may be more desirable
for persons with stroke to place the affected foot behind the unaffected foot when

Background
Suspension ligamentoplasty using abductor pollicis longus (APL) tendon without bone tunneling, was introduced as one of the techniques for treatment of advanced first carpometacarpal (CMC) arthritis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the radiologic and clinical results of APL suspension ligamentoplasty.Methods
The medical records of 19 patients who underwent APL suspension ligamentoplasty for advanced first CMC arthritis between January 2008 and May 2012 were reviewed retrospectively. The study included 13 female and 6 male patients, whose mean age was 62 years (range, 43 to 82 years). For clinical evaluation, we assessed the grip and pinch power, radial and volar abduction angle, thumb adduction (modified Kapandji index), including visual analogue scale (VAS) and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) scores. Radiologic evaluation was performed using simple radiographs.Results
The mean follow-up was 36 months (range, 19 to 73.7 months). Mean power improved from 18.3 to 27 kg for grip power, from 2.8 to 3.5 kg for tip pinch, and from 4.3 to 5.4 kg for power pinch. All patients showed decreased VAS from 7.2 to 1.7. Radial abduction improved from 71° preoperatively to 82° postoperatively. The modified Kapandji index showed improvement from 6 to 7.3, and mean DASH was improved from 41 to 17.8. The height of the space decreased from 10.8 to 7.1 mm. Only one case had a complication involving temporary sensory loss of the first dorsal web space, which resolved spontaneously.Conclusions
The APL suspension ligamentoplasty for treatment of advanced first CMC arthritis yielded satisfactory functional results. 相似文献109.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact on the shoulder joints
of performing inelastic taping and bed physical therapy for acute stroke. [Subjects and
Methods] The intervention was conducted for eight weeks with an experimental group of 18
stroke patients who received bed physical therapy and inelastic taping and a control group
of 18 stroke patients who received only bed physical therapy. [Results] After the
intervention, the subluxation degree of the experimental group, which received bed
physical therapy and inelastic taping, was found to be significantly different from that
of the control group, which received only bed physical therapy. [Conclusion] In
conclusion, the application of inelastic taping for acute stroke patients was confirmed to
be effective at reducing shoulder subluxation and pain, and was confirmed to be a good
