School‐based breastfeeding education (SBBE) may help improve breastfeeding rates in the long‐term by targeting children and adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, skills, and intentions. Breastfeeding rates in Lebanon are suboptimal. Psychosocial drivers of breastfeeding intention among the youth are unknown. We administered a survey to 658 high school students (448 females; 210 males) at two large Lebanese schools to understand intentions, intention drivers, and views on SBBE as means to guide SBBE programme design on the basis of the theory of planned behaviour. We collected information on demographics, intention to breastfeed/support wife to breastfeed future. Intention was predicted by attitude related to breastfeeding health outcomes and family normative beliefs—χ2(25) = 115, P < .001 for males, and χ2(39.3) = 186, P < .001 for females. Among females, intention was also positively associated with being breastfed, higher socio‐economic status, and being more accepting of public breastfeeding. Seventy‐eight per cent of students felt they were not learning enough about breastfeeding in school but were interested in SBBE through didactic teaching methods and interactive experiences. Findings indicate that breastfeeding intention among adolescent students is not merely influenced by the extent of knowledge but by more complicated psychosocial drivers that may differ by gender. Our findings also suggest a misalignment exists between what schools are providing with what students feel they need, thereby opening up a potential space for intervention.  相似文献

Presentation of Chronic Daily Headache: A Clinical Study   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We studied the presentation of chronic daily headache in 258 patients from a private headache practice, 50 men and 208 women. Chronic daily headache was defined as headaches, occurring at least 5 days per week for at least 1 year.
Seventy-seven percent of the patients experienced the onset of headache before the age of 30. The daily headaches were present on awakening in the morning or came about in the course of the morning in 79% of the patients. In 53%, they were worst in the afternoon or evening. The headaches awoke the patients at night at least once per week in 36%. At least twice per week, they were associated with nausea in 35% of the patients and with vomiting in 9%. Common aggravating factors included light, physical activity, bending over, noise, stress or tension, and menstruation. Ninety-four percent of the patients experienced severe headaches in addition to the daily headaches. In 63%, the severe headaches occurred 10 days per month or less. The daily caffeine intake of the patients averaged 170 mg, and the daily analgesic intake, 1860 mg of aspirin equivalents.  相似文献

Simulation-based training (SBT) is becoming widely used in medical education to help residents and medical students develop good technical skills before they practice on real patients. SBT seems ideal because it provides a nonthreatening controlled environment for practice with immediate feedback and can include objective performance assessment. However, various forms of SBT and assessment often are being used with limited evidence-based data to support their validity and reliability. In addition, although SBT with high-tech simulators is more sophisticated and attractive, this is not necessarily superior to SBT with low-tech (and lower cost) simulators. Therefore, understanding the types of surgical simulators and appropriate applications can help to ensure that this teaching and assessment modality is applied most effectively. This article summarizes the key concepts that are needed to use surgical simulators effectively for teaching and assessment.  相似文献

Purpose: To investigate the effect of microenvironment maintenance on embryo culture and clinical results using two types of incubators. Methods: Temperature and oxygen concentration in a mini-incubator and a conventional incubator were compared following a 5-s door opening/closing procedure. Embryos of 30 in-vitro fertilization embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cases were randomly allocated to either one of the incubator, cultured, and the early-stage good embryo formation rate and the good blastocyst formation rate were compared, as indicators for micro-environment maintenance ability. Results: Temperature recovery after a 5-s door opening/closing procedure was approximately 5 min for the mini-incubator and 30 min for the conventional incubator. The oxygen concentration return was significantly improved in the mini-incubator (3.0 ± 0 min) compared with the conventional incubator (7.8 ± 0.9 min). Both the early-stage good embryo formation rate and the good blastocyst formation rate were significantly higher in the mini-incubator (39.5% and 15.1%) than the conventional incubator (28.4% and 7.8%). Conclusion: The microenvironment maintenance ability of incubators appears to significantly influence the formation of good embryos.  相似文献
