Computer graphics for digitally formatted images

The increasing use of digitally formatted imaging systems requires high-quality interactive gray-scale computer raster graphics systems for the management, display, and analog film recording of digital image and alphanumeric information. These systems are a combination of computer hardware and software and implement a set of graphics protocols. This paper describes a set of interactive graphics protocols that has been developed for clinical use.     

Prostaglandin E production by human blood monocytes and mouse peritoneal macrophages

Purified populations of both human peripheral blood monocytes and murine peritoneal macrophages synthesize and release Prostaglandin E in vitro. In contrast, prostaglandin E was detected in neither the supernate fluids from cultures of highly enriched human lymphocytes and granulocytes, nor in nonadherent murine peritoneal cells. Macrophage prostaglandin E production was markedly enhanced by endotoxin, and completely suppressed by indomethacin. All neoplastic monocyte-macrophage cell lines examined elaborated prostaglandin E in vitro, either constitutively or after induction with endotoxin. In contrast, prostaglandin E production could not be detected from either a T- or B-cell lymphoma, whether or not they were treated with endotoxin. These findings thus indicate that the blood monocyte and tissue macrophage represent an important source of prostaglandin E, a function shared by both normal and neoplastic mononuclear phagocytes.     

Serum CPK and aldolase activity in man following controlled administration of psychotomimetic drugs

Summary Serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) and aldolase activities were determined in thirty-six subjects following the administration of LSD-25 or N,N-dipropyltryptamine in varying doses. No significant increase in the mean activity of either enzyme was found at the times blood samples were obtained after drug administration. The results are discussed with reference to the increases in CPK and aldolase activity which occur in the acute psychoses.Supported in part by Grant # 14-340 from the State of Illinois and U.S.P.H.S.
