In the previous study, we reported that exposure to bisphenol-A induced the potentiation of dopamine receptor functions in the mouse limbic area, resulting in supersensitivity to methamphetamine-induced pharmacological actions. The present study was undertaken to investigate whether prenatal exposure to bisphenol-A could produce morphological change in dopaminergic neuron and the pattern of expression of genes regulating the dopaminergic neuron development. Here we found that prenatal and neonatal exposures to bisphenol-A increased the tyrosine hydroxylase- and dopamine transporter-like immunoreactivities in the adult mouse limbic area. The present molecular biological study shows that chronic bisphenol-A treatment produced a significant decrease in the dopaminergic neuron development factors, sonic hedgehog and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, which were also decreased by prenatal exposure to bisphenol-A. These results suggest that chronic exposure to bisphenol-A could disrupt the dopaminergic neurotransmission in the process of dopaminergic neuron development.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation between scalp-recorded electroencephalographic (EEG) and electrocorticographic (ECoG) activities during ictal periods. METHODS: Simultaneous EEG and ECoG recordings with chronic subdural electrodes were performed in eight patients with partial epilepsy. RESULTS: In two cases where the ictal ECoG discharges originated in deep brain structures such as the hippocampus and interhemispheric surface of the frontal lobe, ictal discharges could not be detected on EEG until they expanded to the cortex of convexity. In four cases, the ictal onset zones were located in the lateral convexity. When synchronous or near synchronous ictal ECoG discharges with amplitudes of 200-2000muV were recorded on more than 8-15cm(2) of cortex, corresponding discharges were recorded on EEG in these four cases. However, in a case of frontal lobe epilepsy, asynchronous ictal ECoG discharges were recorded on 10 electrodes of convexity but no ictal EEG activity was recorded. Furthermore, in two frontal lobe epilepsy cases, ictal EEG discharges did not always reflect the ictal ECoG spike, but occasionally reflected slow background ECoG activity around the ictal discharges. CONCLUSIONS: Multiple factors such as the width of the cortical area involved, amplitude of ictal discharges and degree of synchronization of electrical potentials play important roles in the appearance of ictal EEG recordings, and the relationship between ictal EEG and ECoG is not straightforward.  相似文献

While gene polymorphism for angiotensinogen (AGT) is reported to contribute to the regulation of blood pressure and salt sensitivity, its effect on the risk of ischemic stroke remains controversial. We hypothesized that polymorphism of the AGT gene could be a risk factor for ischemic stroke. Major clinical risk factors and the AGT gene M235T polymorphism were examined in 147 consecutive stroke patients and 133 healthy age-matched controls. All patients were categorized into four stroke types (single lacuna, multiple lacunae, large-artery atherosclerosis and branch atheromatous disease in brainstem) and two vascular groups (large and perforating arterial lesions). The AGT gene M allele significantly increased the risk of single lacuna, multiple lacunae and small arterial lesions, in male patients (p=0.029, 0.031 and 0.026, respectively). Synergistic effects of the AGT gene polymorphism and clinical risks were not observed. In conclusion, AGT M allele may present a risk of lacunar infarctions in Japanese men, independent of hypertension.  相似文献

A case of an odontogenic tumor which invaded the intracranial space from the mandible is reported. Judging from the radiographic images it was similar to a malignant tumor. The patient died 17 years after the first visit. According to the final pathological diagnosis, it was malignant odontogenic mixed tumor of low grade which did not belong to any of the WHO classification.  相似文献

12 giant intracranial aneurysms were studied by MRI. Intraluminal thrombosis was observed in 9 aneurysms. Thrombosis was found more frequently in larger aneurysms. Thrombi were formed posteriorly or inferiorly in the lumen of 4 among 5 IC-cavernous aneurysms. Location of the neck of the aneurysms and stagnation of blood flow influenced by gravity may be causative factors determining the location of thrombi. In 6 aneurysms intraluminal thrombi were inhomogeneous on MRI, suggesting that the thrombi had been formed at different times. New thrombi were formed between the aneurysmal wall and the old thrombus in 3 cases. Dissection of the aneurysmal wall by residual blood flow in the lumen or hemorrhage in the aneurysmal wall may be one of the growth mechanisms of giant intracranial aneurysms.  相似文献

Effects of intravenously (i.v.) administered nicotine on gastric motility were investigated in urethane-anesthetized rats in which an intragastric balloon had been placed. I.v. administered nicotine at 75-300 nmole/kg dose-dependently decreased gastric motility. Decrease in gastric motility induced by nicotine at the dose of 300 nmole/kg was inhibited by intracisternally administered hexamethonium. Gastric motility was also decreased by intracisternally applied nicotine (1-10 nmole). These doses were much smaller than those by the intracerebroventricular route in our previous report. Bilateral vagotomy significantly suppressed basal gastric motility. In bilaterally vagotomized animals, nicotine at 1 mumole/kg but not 300 nmole/kg given i.v. significantly decreased the gastric motility maintained at a normal level by electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve. This nicotine-induced decrease in gastric motility, under conditions of electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve, was inhibited by pretreatment with phentolamine. These results suggest that a smaller dose of nicotine given i.v. activates nicotinic receptors in the brainstem and elicits vagally-mediated inhibition of gastric motility. Activation of peripheral alpha-adrenergic mechanisms together with that of central nicotinic mechanisms may be involved in the decreasing effects of a larger dose of nicotine on gastric motility.  相似文献

The alterations of second-messenger ligand binding and cerebral blood flow (CBF) were evaluated in the gerbil brain after 2-h unilateral common carotid artery occlusion. [3H]Forskolin (FK) and [3H]phorbol-12,13-dibutyrate (PDBu) were used as specific ligands for adenylate cyclase (AC) and protein kinase C (PKC) activity estimation, respectively. CBF was determined at the end of the experiment by the [14C]iodoantipyrine method. A quantitative autoradiographic method permitted simultaneous measurement of the three parameters in the same brain. The levels in the caudate-putamen, globus pallidus, and hippocampus were analyzed. The animals were divided into three groups: Group 1 with severe ischemia (CBF in the lateral nuclei of the thalamus (CBFt) less than 50 ml/100 g/min), Group 2 with mild ischemia (CBFt greater than or equal to 50 ml/100 g/min), and the Sham Group. The PDBu binding revealed a statistically significant increase in the caudate-putamen, lateral nuclei of the thalamus and hippocampus (CA1 and CA3 regions and dentate gyrus) on the ischemic side in Group 1 as compared to that in Group 2 and the Sham Group. In contrast, the FK binding did not show any significant changes in any of the regions. These data and our previous findings for 6-h ischemia suggest that (1) PKC translocation to the cell membrane may occur at the early ischemic phase in particular regions including the caudate-putamen, lateral nuclei of the thalamus and hippocampus, with the translocated PKC gradually diminishing during the subsequent ischemic period; and (2) the suppression of the AC system observed in 6-h ischemia may not appear in the early ischemic phase.  相似文献
