Objective

The aim of this study is to develop fractional derivative models for the assessment of viscoelastic properties related to handling characteristics of dental resin composites belonging to two classes: flowable (Revolution Formula 2 and Filtek Ultimate) and posterior “bulk-fill” flowable base (Smart Dentin Replace).

Methods

Rheological measurements on all materials tested in this study were performed using dynamic oscillatory rheometer at temperature of 23 °C. A parallel plates module with a diameter of 20 mm was used to measure the properties of the resin composites tested. We developed two models to describe the obtained data: the generalized Newton model and the generalized Zener model (the so-called three parameter model). Both models contain fractional derivatives of Riemann–Liouville type. By determining the parameters of the model we were able to fit experimental data with high accuracy.

Results

Our results show that flowable “bulk-fill” resin-composite material (SDR) has distinct properties as compared to other two flowable resin composite materials (Revolution Formula 2 and Filtek Ultimate). Thus, previously found SDR properties as “bulk-fill” flowable base results in the fact that it is described by generalized Zener model (i.e., it has properties of solid like viscoelastic material).

Significance

Our model may be used to predict behavior of tested composites in different flow conditions. The SDR has initially small almost constant complex viscosity showing that it has good self-leveling property.  相似文献

Purpose

It has been demonstrated that the semitendinosus tendon can regenerate after being harvested in its whole length and thickness for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Ultrasound studies and guided biopsies of the regenerated tendon have shown compatibility and resembling features of the normal tendon. The question is if this neo-tendon is biologically and functionally adequate for re-use?

Methods

Two randomised groups of 150 volunteers were followed up for two years after harvesting the semitendinosus only (25) or the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons (25) in ACL reconstruction. The patients were followed up with clinical and ultrasound examinations, biopsies and histological tests. Surgical exploration was done in three patients for macroscopic verification. The injected arteries of four lower limbs were dissected and the tendon’s arterial supplies were examined.

Results

Seventy-two percent of the cases showed regeneration of the semitendinosus tendons. The neotendons were inserted mostly below the knee joint (83.3 %) where they had fused with the gracilis tendon, and above the joint (60 %) when the gracilis was harvested as well. The isokinetic strength of the hamstrings and quadriceps was not significantly diminished on the operated side. A macroscopic and histological analysis of the regenerated tendons demonstrates close resemblance to normal anatomy, with focal areas of fibrosis. In one patient the regenerated tendon was used for medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction.

Conclusion

The semitendinosus muscle can recover and the tendon has great potential to regenerate after harvesting for ACL reconstruction. Our data suggest that the regenerated tendons could be used for iterative ligament reconstruction.  相似文献

Purpose

Urinary excretion of beta2-microglobulin (beta2-MG), albumin, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and protein was examined in patients with Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN), glomerulonephritis (GN) and healthy controls.

Methods

The proteins were measured in morning urine samples from 74 patients with BEN, 50 healthy persons and 22 patients with GN.

Results

In BEN patients, median values for albumin, beta2-MG and protein were above upper normal limits, but median IgG was inside normal range. All patients with GN had microalbuminuria (MAU) and half of them had increased urinary beta2-MG, which was also found in eleven patients with increased urinary IgG. In BEN patients, there were significant negative correlations between eGFR and all measured urinary proteins, the composition of which changed during the course of BEN. In patients with eGFR > 60 ml/min/1.73 m2 isolated beta2-MG was the most frequent finding (10/12 patients), but MAU was present in 4/12 patients. In BEN patients with eGFR between 30 and 59 ml/min/1.73 m2, beta2-MG appeared as often as the combination of beta2-MG and albumin and isolated MAU. Out of 49 BEN patients with eGFR > 30 ml/min/1.73 m2 15 had increased urinary IgG either alone (1) or together with beta2-MG (3) or albumin (3) or beta2-MG and albumin (8). In BEN patients with GFR < 30 ml/min/1.73 m2 only 1/25 had isolated beta2-MG but increased urinary IgG with increased beta2-MG, and albumin was the most frequent.

Conclusion

Although low-molecular weight proteinuria was the most frequent urinary finding in BEN patients, MAU was frequently detected in advanced stages of BEN but also in some patients with eGFR > 60 ml/min/1.73 m2. IgG was increasingly found as eGFR decreased.  相似文献

Osteocyte apoptosis is required to induce intracortical bone remodeling after microdamage in animal models, but how apoptotic osteocytes signal neighboring “bystander” cells to initiate the remodeling process is unknown. Apoptosis has been shown to open pannexin‐1 (Panx1) channels to release adenosine diphosphate (ATP) as a “find‐me” signal for phagocytic cells. To address whether apoptotic osteocytes use this signaling mechanism, we adapted the rat ulnar fatigue‐loading model to reproducibly introduce microdamage into mouse cortical bone and measured subsequent changes in osteocyte apoptosis, receptor activator of NF‐κB ligand (RANKL) expression and osteoclastic bone resorption in wild‐type (WT; C57Bl/6) mice and in mice genetically deficient in Panx1 (Panx1KO). Mouse ulnar loading produced linear microcracks comparable in number and location to the rat model. WT mice showed increased osteocyte apoptosis and RANKL expression at microdamage sites at 3 days after loading and increased intracortical remodeling and endocortical tunneling at day 14. With fatigue, Panx1KO mice exhibited levels of microdamage and osteocyte apoptosis identical to WT mice. However, they did not upregulate RANKL in bystander osteocytes or initiate resorption. Panx1 interacts with P2X7R in ATP release; thus, we examined P2X7R‐deficient mice and WT mice treated with P2X7R antagonist Brilliant Blue G (BBG) to test the possible role of ATP as a find‐me signal. P2X7RKO mice failed to upregulate RANKL in osteocytes or induce resorption despite normally elevated osteocyte apoptosis after fatigue loading. Similarly, treatment of fatigued C57Bl/6 mice with BBG mimicked behavior of both Panx1KO and P2X7RKO mice; BBG had no effect on osteocyte apoptosis in fatigued bone but completely prevented increases in bystander osteocyte RANKL expression and attenuated activation of resorption by more than 50%. These results indicate that activation of Panx1 and P2X7R are required for apoptotic osteocytes in fatigued bone to trigger RANKL production in neighboring bystander osteocytes and implicate ATP as an essential signal mediating this process. © 2016 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.  相似文献

In situ forming ophthalmic gels need to be fine tuned considering all the biopharmaceutical challenges of the front of the eye in order to increase drug residence time at the application site resulting in its improved bioavailability and efficacy. The aim of this study was to develop in situ forming ophthalmic poloxamer P407/poloxamer P188/chitosan gel fine tuned in terms of polymer content, temperature of gelation, and viscosity. Minimizing the total polymer content while retaining the advantageous rheological properties has been achieved by means of D-optimal statistical design. The optimal in situ forming gel was selected based on minimal polymer content (P407, P188, and chitosan concentration of 14.2%, 1.7%, and 0.25% w/w, respectively), favorable rheological characteristics, and in vitro resistance to tear dilution. The optimal in situ forming gel was proved to be robust against entrapment of active pharmaceutical ingredients making it a suitable platform for ophthalmic delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients with diverse physicochemical properties.  相似文献

Purpose

The main purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of dyspepsia and contributing factors in Montenegrin maintenance hemodialysis patients.

Methods

The study included 43 patients undergoing hemodialysis with symptoms of dyspepsia and 40 control dyspeptic subjects with preserved kidney function. All subjects underwent an interview about dyspeptic symptoms, physical and biochemical examination, and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with pathohistological analysis of biopsy specimens.

Results

Early satiety, bloating and heartburn were the most common symptoms in hemodialysis patients but without significant difference in frequency in relation to controls. Chronic kidney disease patients had statistically lower concentration of total proteins and albumin (p?<?0.001), as well lower BMI values (p?=?0.002). Despite this, no significant correlation of laboratory parameters with dyspeptic symptoms was found. Pathohistological examination indicated that the most common finding in hemodialysis patients was chronic active gastritis (58%), while chronic atrophic gastritis was significantly more common in dialytic patients (p?=?0.032). Patients on hemodialysis had more frequently atrophy of corpus mucosa, which was positively related to dialysis duration (p?=?0.001) and negatively related to pH values (p?=?0.004) and bicarbonate concentration (p?=?0.049). Helicobacter pylori was considerably more common in patients who underwent shorter time on hemodialysis (p?<?0.001) and had higher values of bicarbonate (p?=?0.037).

Conclusion

Maintenance hemodialysis patients are at risk for chronic gastric diseases that correlated with both dialysis vintage and duration.
