LDH is a glycolytic enzyme utilised during exercise to provide energy to contracting muscles. Chronic submaximal exercise for a longer duration shows about two-fold increase in LDH levels. Yogic practises might be bringing similar effects. The present work was designed to study effect of yogic training on LDH levels. Fourteen female and six male students of average age or 18 years were subjected to yogic training for six weeks. Serum LDH levels were found before and after the training course by spectrophotometric method of Henry et al. The serum LDH levels were within normal limits and showed significant increase both in females and males after yogic training. It indicates that Yoga has similar effect on LDH levels like endurance training.  相似文献

Acute occlusion of the left main coronary artery is normally fatal. According to the literature, only a few cases have been treated by intracoronary thrombolysis; the prolonged period of ischemia, however, resulted in severe left ventricular dysfunction and numerous complications. Therefore, effort should be directed to recanalize the left main coronary artery within the shortest possible interval. We followed this approach in a case of acute occlusion of a subtotal stenosis of the left main coronary artery which could be mechanically reopened and dilated within a few minutes. The intervention resulted in immediate reversal of profound cardiogenic shock and complete restoration of normal left ventricular function. At hospital discharge, the patient was asymptomatic with a negative bicycle stress test. Immediate mechanical recanalization and angioplasty appear to be a feasible approach in life-threatening coronary occlusion.  相似文献

The synthesis and irreversible alpha-blocking activity in the rat vas deferens of a series of tetra- and diamine disulfides 2-38, structural analogues of benextramine (BHC), are described. All compounds containing a central cystamine moiety displayed an irreversible alpha-adrenergic blockade at concentrations ranging from 10(-4) to 6 X 10(-6)M. Potency was increased in cystamines N,N'-disubstituted with 6-aminohexyl groups, especially when the outer nitrogen atoms bear arylalkyl substituents or are enclosed in a ring. However, N,N,N',N'-tetrasubstituted cystamines were poor blockers. Structural specificity in the outer portion of the tetramine disulfide is low, since many types of substituents gave rise to potent alpha-blockers. Even replacement of the outer amines with nonbasic ethers or amides was observed to maintain irreversible alpha-blockade.  相似文献

Whereas the phosphorolytic breakdown of liver glycogen is known to be of great physiological importance, the functional role of the hydrolytic glycogenolysis in the lysosomal system is less well understood. In the present study the effects of fasting, alpha- and beta-adrenoceptor antagonism and insulin-induced hypoglycaemia on liver lysosomal glycogen-hydrolysing enzyme activity were investigated in mice. In freely fed mice the glycogen-hydrolysing activity (acid amyloglucosidase) was only 50% of the maltose-hydrolysing activity (acid maltase). Starvation for 24 h reduced the acid amyloglucosidase activity by approximately 30% (P less than 0.001), whereas the activities of acid maltase, acid phosphatase and beta-glucuronidase appeared unaffected. N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase activity was moderately (20%; P less than 0.01) enhanced by fasting. Thus, liver lysosomal enzyme activities may change independently of each other during fasting. Further, during short-term hypoglycaemic conditions (45 min) induced by endogenous or exogenous insulin, the activity of liver acid amyloglucosidase was found to be moderately reduced (15-20%). Blockade of alpha- and beta-adrenoceptors by phentolamine and propranolol did not result in any apparent influence on acid amyloglucosidase activity except for the indirect effect exerted by the phentolamine-induced hypoglycaemia. A moderate negative correlation (r = -0.51; P less than 0.001) between total liver glycogen concentration and acid amyloglucosidase activity was observed in a series of 43 freely fed NMRI mice. We used inferior pedicled composite multi-fractured osteoperiosteal flap (CMOF), our original and new surgical approach, to obliterate the mastoid cavity and reconstruct the external auditory canal (EAC) to prevent the open cavity problems. CMOF was used to obliterate the mastoid cavity and reconstruct the EAC in 24 patients (13 women, 11 men; age span 12–51 years) who underwent radical mastoidectomy to treat the chronic otitis media between 1998 and 2004. Small meatoplasty was done in all 24 patients to relive their aesthetical concerns. Temporal bone CT scanning was done to observe the neo-osteogenesis in the mastoidectomy cavity and the CMOF, and the EAC volume was measured postoperatively. All our patients were followed-up for 2 years. The epithelization of the new EAC in our patients was complete at the end of the second month. Cholesteatoma, granulation, and recurrence of osteitis did not occur in any of the patients. We saw the new bone formation filling the mastoid cavity in the postoperative temporal bone CT scanning images. The mean volume of the new EAC on the 24th month was 1.83 ± 0.56 cm3. We had an almost natural EAC, which owed its existence to the neo-osteogenesis that grows behind the CMOF, which we use to obliterate the mastoid cavity and to reconstruct the EAC.This technique, composite multi-fractured osteoperiosteal flap, was presented in the symposium of Gulhane Military Medical Academy on otology and audiology, 15–18 September, 2005, Antalya, Turkey.  相似文献
