Lithium ion batteries (LIB) are the most extensively researched and developed batteries. Currently, LIBs are used in various applications such as electric vehicles (EV), hybrid EVs (HEV), plug-in HEVs, and energy storage systems. However, their energy density is insufficient and further improvement is required. In this study, we propose the facile synthesis of a self-standing, junction-less 3D carbon sponge electrode (3DCS) for improving the energy density. A self-standing structure can improve the energy density by reducing non-active materials such as binders and current collectors, in electrodes. We use a kitchenware melamine sponge as the carbon precursor. The utilization of materials mass-produced by existing facilities is crucial for ensuring availability and low costs. Such characteristics are imperative for industrialization. These self-standing 3DCS electrodes, fabricated using available low-cost melamine sponges, demonstrate high charge-rate characteristics with a capacity retention of 81.8% at 4000 mA g−1 and cycle durability with 95.4% capacity retention after 500 cycles, without current collector, binder, and conductive additives. Tocilizumab (TCZ), a biologic that blocks the signal transduction of interleukin-6, has been used for the treatment of various autoimmune diseases. Many of these cases are sometimes complicated by ulcerative colitis (UC). However, the effect of TCZ on UC is unclear. We experienced two cases with concomitant UC that were treated with TCZ, one for Takayasu arteritis (TAK) and the other for relapsing polychondritis (RP). TCZ did not improve UC in either of these cases. TCZ might have adverse effects on the intestinal tract, since interleukin-6 signaling plays an important role in intestinal epithelium maintenance. Treatment with TCZ should therefore be carefully provided in patients complicated with UC. 相似文献
To determine the essential mechanism of increased systolic wall motion, i.e., hyperkinesis, in a nonischemic region (NIR) during acute ischemia, we simultaneously evaluated global and regional function of the excised, cross-circulated canine left ventricle connected to a volume servo pump before and after coronary occlusion. Regional areas were determined with pairs of orthogonal subendocardial sonomicrometers in the ischemic region (IR) and NIR. After coronary occlusion with left ventricular end-diastolic and stroke volumes kept constant, the amount of systolic area shrinkage (delta A) in NIR increased by 33 +/- 41% (p less than .05), despite a decrease in end-diastolic regional area by 3 +/- 4% (p less than .05). Regional work obtained from the wall tension-regional area (T-A) loop in NIR decreased by 50 +/- 24% due to a similar decrease in afterload despite the presence of hyperkinesis, indicating regional systolic unloading. When left ventricular end-diastolic volume was subsequently increased with a constant stroke volume, delta A in NIR increased at the expense of a further decrease in delta A in IR. The end-systolic T-A relationship in NIR remained unchanged, whereas that in IR markedly shifted rightward, suggesting that the contractile state of NIR was constant. These results indicate that hyperkinesis in NIR during acute ischemia can occur without a utilization of the Frank-Starling mechanism or an enhancement of regional contractile state, and that the essential mechanism of this phenomenon is regional afterload reduction due to an intraventricular mechanical interaction between IR and NIR. 相似文献
OBJECTIVE--To evaluate the relationship between high serum levels of IgE and the release of interleukin-4 (IL-4) from cultured lymphocytes of a patient with adult onset Still's disease. METHODS--IL-4 concentrations in plasma and culture from inactivated peripheral blood mononuclear cells were assessed by enzyme immunoassay during febrile episodes and remission. RESULTS--A high level of IL-4 was detected by enzyme immunoassay in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells cultured from the patient. These seemed to correspond with a febrile episode and a high serum IgE concentration. CONCLUSION--Increased serum IgE concentrations during a febrile episode are rare in patients with adult onset Still's disease, but the relationship between the high levels of serum IgE and IL-4 in cultured lymphocytes may provide clues to pathogenesis of the condition. 相似文献
PURPOSE: On the assumption that renal tubular cells are more important as the target cells for a natriuretic factor than blood cells, we used a well-characterized cultured renal tubular cell line, Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK), cells to monitor the circulating digitalis-like factor in human plasma and examine its role in the regulation of blood pressure and sodium balance. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We investigated the effects of plasma on binding of radioactive ouabain to monolayered MDCK cells in order to determine the level of a circulating digitalis-like factor. First, we measured specific 3H-ouabain binding to MDCK cells in the presence of plasma from 71 outpatients (34 normotensive subjects and 37 hypertensive patients) after incubation for 4 hours. Second, we measured specific 3H-ouabain binding after incubation of cells with plasma from 16 hospitalized subjects (eight normotensive subjects and eight hypertensive patients) receiving low and high sodium diets. RESULTS: In Study 1, ouabain binding was lower by 30% with plasma from hypertensive patients than with plasma from normotensive subjects (p less than 0.01). There was a significant negative correlation between individual subject's systolic or mean blood pressure and ouabain binding (r = -0.34, p less than 0.01 or r = -0.29, p less than 0.01). In Study 2, ouabain binding was also significantly reduced by 25% in the presence of plasma from hypertensive subjects as compared with plasma from normotensive subjects irrespective of sodium intake (p less than 0.01). A significant negative correlation was also found for all subjects between either systolic, diastolic, or mean blood pressure and ouabain binding (r = -0.58, p less than 0.01, r = -0.51, p less than 0.01, or r = -0.55, p less than 0.01, respectively). With the changes from low to high sodium intake, there was a corresponding decrease in ouabain binding (p less than 0.01) and an increase in sodium excretion (p less than 0.01). A significant negative correlation was observed between these two parameters (r = -0.47, p less than 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that a circulating digitalis-like factor, which may act on renal tubular cells as the ouabain-displacing compound, is increased in patients with essential hypertension and also demonstrate that plasma levels may be influenced by changes in dietary sodium intake. 相似文献
Objectives: To determine the tentative diagnostic criteria and disease severity classification for Castleman disease (CD) and describe the clinical and pathologic features among human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) negative idiopathic multicentric CD (iMCD) in the Japanese population.
Methods: We established the working groups for the research of CD in Japan and had meetings to discuss and define the tentative diagnostic criteria and disease severity classification for CD. We subsequently analyzed 142 patients classified into iMCD by using the nationwide Japanese patient registry.
Results: We proposed the preliminary diagnostic criteria and disease severity classification for CD based on our discussion. In addition, we made a proposal for the disease activity score. We identified clinical and pathological features of patients with iMCD diagnosed by these diagnostic criteria. In the disease severity classification, 37, 33 and 30% patients were categorized into mild, moderate and severe diseases, respectively.
Conclusion: This is the first proposal for diagnosis and classification of CD by the Japanese group. Further studies are required to validate whether they can distinguish CD from other inflammatory diseases and to determine their sensitivity and specificity. 相似文献
An enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to estimate the production of intracellular and extracellular interleukin-1 (IL-1) alpha and beta by peripheral blood monocytes from 26 patients with various connective tissue diseases (CTD), including 19 with systemic lupus erythematosus, four with progressive systemic sclerosis, two with mixed connective tissue disease, and one with Sjögren's syndrome. Monocytes obtained from patients with CTD with serum antibodies to nuclear ribonucleoprotein (nRNP) released significantly higher concentrations of extracellular IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta, whereas intracellular IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta production was similar to that by monocytes from patients with CTD without antibodies to nRNP. Furthermore, the concentrations of extracellular IL-1 alpha correlated significantly with those of extracellular IL-1 beta. There was no significant correlation between the concentrations of extracellular and intracellular IL-1 alpha, and those of extracellular and intracellular IL-1 beta, indicating that synthesis and secretion of IL-1 by human monocytes may be two distinct biological events. It seems that enhanced extracellular release of both IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta contributes to the excessive anti-nRNP production in CTD. 相似文献
