Studies in pharmacokinetics and tolerance of substances temporarily retained in the liver by microsphere embolization.

Earlier investigation has shown that a temporary arrest of arterial blood flow can be achieved by embolization with degradable microspheres. This study was made to investigate the change in pharmacokinetics, and drug tolerance which takes place when a substance is retained in the liver by a microsphere embolization. 14C-labelled inulin and 5-fluorouracil were studied. The administration of these substances with microspheres led to a delay in their systemic distribution. Furthermore there was an increased tolerance to 5-fluoro-uracil, probably due to a prolonged first pass effect when the substance was temporarily retained in the liver by a microsphere embolization.

Summary Twelve cases of aneurysm of the PICA are reported, the clinical histories summarized and the radiological evaluations reviewed. The importance of using subtraction techniques and of employing various special projections for adequate assessment of the anatomical relationship of the aneurysm to vital structures have been discussed.

Zusammenfassung Bericht über 12 Fälle von Aneurysmen im Bereich der A. cerebelli inf. post. mit Angaben der Krankengeschichte und der radiologischen Befunde. Dabei wird auf die Notwendigkeit der Subtraktionstechnik und auf verschiedene Spezial-Projektionen bei der Angiographie hingewiesen.

L'angiographie des anévrysmes de l'artère cérébelleuse postéro-inférieure

Résumé Les auteurs rapportent 12 cas d'anévrysmes de l'artère cérébelleuse postéro-inférieure, en résument les tableaux cliniques et en revoient les données radiologiques. Ils discutent de l'importance de l'utilisation de la technique de soustraction et de la réalisation de diverses projections spéciales visant à mettre en évidence les rapports anatomiques de l'anévrysme avec les structures vitales.
