Cortical auditory evoked potentials (N1 wave) were studied in 24 adults (12 men, 12 women) and 20 children (12 boys, 8 girls; age: 4-8 years). In adults, this wave was recorded with maximal amplitude at frontocentral sites, peaking at about 100 ms poststimulation, whereas in children the auditory response displayed maximal amplitude at the midtemporal sites, with a positive wave at about 100 ms and a large negative wave at approximately 170 ms. Moreover, the modulatory effects of intensity on N1 amplitude were prominent at frontocentral sites in adults and at temporal sites in children. Frontocentral negative response was also recorded in children but was smaller in amplitude and longer in peak latency (around 140 ms) than in adults; responses were of greater amplitude at the frontal site than at the vertex before 6 years of age, whereas the reverse was more often found after this age. These data suggest great differences with age in the neural generators contributing to auditory evoked potentials recorded in the N1 latency range. 相似文献

Background Various laser and light therapy have been increasingly used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Patients and methods Twenty patients with facial acne were treated using intense pulsed light (IPL) on one side of the face and pulsed dye laser (PDL) on the other to compare the efficacy and safety of IPL and PDL. Treatment was performed 4 times at 2‐week intervals. Treatment effectiveness was determined using lesion counts, acne severity, patient subjective self‐assessments of improvement, and histopathological examinations, which included immunohistochemical staining for transforming growth factor‐β (TGF‐β). Results Numbers of total acne lesions decreased following both treatments. For inflammatory lesions such as papules, pustules and nodules, IPL‐treated sides showed an earlier and more profound improvement than PDL‐treated sides. However, at 8 weeks after the 4th treatment, a rebound aggravation of acne was observed on IPL‐treated sides. On the contrary, PDL produced gradual improvements during the treatment sessions and these improvements lasted 8 weeks after the 4th treatment. Non‐inflammatory lesions as open and closed comedones also showed improvement following both treatments and PDL‐treated sides showed better improvement as the study proceeded. Histopathological examinations showed amelioration in inflammatory reactions and an increase in TGF‐β expression after both treatments, which were more prominent for PDL‐treated sides. Conclusion Both PDL and IPL were found to treat acne effectively, but PDL showed a more sustained effect. TGF‐β might play a key role in the resolution of inflammatory acne lesions. 相似文献

Eosinophilic dermatosis of hematological malignancy is a paraneoplastic skin eruption associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and other B‐cell malignancies. It clinically resembles an insect bite reaction and it can precede the symptoms of the hematological malignancy or be related to a more aggressive course. Different treatments have been proposed, but partial response and recurrence are frequent. Numerous formulas have been developed to estimate renal function from biochemical, demographic and anthropometric data. Here we compared renal function derived from 12 published prediction equations with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) measurement by plasma iohexol clearance as reference method in a group of 81 renal transplant recipients enrolled in the Mycophenolate Mofetil Steroid Sparing (MY.S.S.) trial. Iohexol clearances and prediction equations were carried out in all patients at months 6, 9 and 21 after surgery. All equations showed a tendency toward GFR over-estimation: Walser and MDRD equations gave the best performance, however not more than 45% of estimated values were within +/-10% error. These formulas showed also the lowest bias and the highest precision: 0.5 and 9.2 mL/min/1.73 m2 (Walser), 2.7 and 10.4 mL/min/1.73 m2 (MDRD) in predicting GFR. A significantly higher rate of GFR decline ranging from -5.0 mL/min/1.73 m2/year (Walser) to -7.4 mL/min/1.73 m2/year (Davis-Chandler) was estimated by all the equations as compared with iohexol clearance (-3.0 mL/min/1.73 m2/year). The 12 prediction equations do not allow a rigorous assessment of renal function in kidney transplant recipients. In clinical trials of kidney transplantation, graft function should be preferably monitored using a reference method of GFR measurement, such as iohexol plasma clearance. 相似文献

This study was performed to determine whether peritoneal T cells are
suppressed in the CD4+ or CD8+ T cell subpopulation and whether they are
Th1 or Th2 predominant in women with endometriosis. Immune cells in the
peritoneal fluid (PF) were obtained from women undergoing laparoscopy for
endometriosis or tubal ligation. Three-colour flow cytometry was utilized
for immunophenotyping of peritoneal fluid mononuclear cells (PFMC).
Concentrations of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5 and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma)
produced by PFMC with and without mitogen stimulation and concentrations of
IL-10 and IL-12 were measured in PF. The peritoneal T lymphocytes were
predominantly of the Th1 type that produced much more IFN-gamma but less
IL-4 or IL-5 in women with or without endometriosis. The decrease in
peritoneal lymphocytes was significant in the HLA-DR+ CD4+ CD3+
subpopulation and the concentrations of peritoneal IL-10 and IL-12 were
significantly elevated in women with early stage endometriosis. There was
impaired IL- 5 production by PFMC after phytohaemagglutinin stimulation in
women with advanced stage endometriosis. We concluded that the activated
peritoneal CD4+ Th1 cells from the women with endometriosis were decreased
in number. The suppression of these T cells may be due to the elevation of
IL-10 and IL-12 in the peritoneal fluid.
