Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is a group of autosomal dominant disorders, characterized by telangiectases that develop in the skin, mucous membranes, and visceral organs. Currently, there is no satisfactory treatment of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Interferon has never been used for the treatment of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. In this case, we report disappearance of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia lesions after 12 months of treatment with interferon-alpha for chronic hepatitis C. Further studies are warranted to evaluate its role and potential use in the treatment of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. 相似文献
The objectives were to determine the prevalence and clinical significance of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Anti-CCP antibodies were checked by ELISA in 68 children with JIA, 38 males and 30 females with mean age of 10.6 (±4.02) years and disease duration of 3.7 (±1.8) years. Thirty-eight (56%) patients had polyarticular disease, 20 (29%) patients had oligoarticular disease and 10 (15%) patients had systemic onset disease. All patients had their antinuclear antibodies (ANA), rheumatoid factor (RF) and ESR checked and x-rays performed to look for erosions. Results were compared to those of 20 healthy children, 14 children with juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (JSLE) and 30 adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Anti-CCP antibodies were positive in 14/68 (20.6%) patients with JIA, all had polyarticular-onset disease. All patients with positive anti-CCP antibodies had RF-positive polyarthritis. Anti-CCP antibodies were negative in all patients with oligoarticular-onset and systemic-onset disease including 2 patients with extended oligoarthritis. Anti-CCP antibodies were negative in healthy and JSLE controls but were positive in 20/30 (66.5%) adults with RA. Anti-CCP antibodies correlated significantly with joint erosions in patients with JIA (p?=?0.004) but no significant relation was found between anti-CCP antibodies and ANA positivity or raised ESR. These data confirm that anti-CCP antibodies are less prevalent in JIA than adult RA but are detectable in a significant proportion of RF-positive patients with polyarticular-onset JIA. The current study showed significant relation between anti-CCP positivity and erosive joint disease in JIA. 相似文献
Biological and chemical investigations of the methanolic crude extract of the Red Sea marine sponge Hyrtios erectus led to the isolation of a novel azepino-indole-type alkaloid named hyrtiazepine (2) and 5-hydroxy-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3), together with the known metabolites hyrtiosulawesine (1), 5-hydroxyindole-3-carbaldehyde (4), hyrtiosin A (5), and hyrtiosin B (6). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of mass spectrometry and detailed 2D NMR spectroscopic data. Hyrtiosulawesine (1) displayed a significant antiphospholipase A2 activity with an IC50 value of 14 microM in a fluorometric assay using Crotalus adamanteus venom phospholipase A2. 相似文献

Objective: To study the relation between CD226 rs763361 gene polymorphism and CD226 serum level and to evaluate their role in susceptibility and disease activity of RA in a cohort of Egyptian individuals.
Methods: The serum level of CD226 was measured using a suitable ELISA kit and the CD226 rs763361 gene polymorphism was typed by PCR-RFLP for 112 RA patients and 100 healthy controls.
Results: Significant association with RA was found with CD226 T allele (OR (95%CI) = 1.6 (1.04–2.4), P = 0.032), and higher CD226 serum level (P = 0.001). Higher CD226 levels were associated with higher ESR values (P = 0.035), positive CRP (0.048), increased number of tender joints (P = 0.045), and higher DAS score (P = 0.035). Serum CD226 is an independent risk factor for the prediction of RA (P = 0.001). No correlations were found between the serum level of CD226 and different CD226 genotypes and also between them and RA activity grades.
Conclusion: The CD226 T allele may be susceptibility risk factors for the development of RA and the higher serum level of CD226 may be involved in the pathogenesis of RA in Egyptian patients. The serum level of CD226 and not CD226 genotypes could be considered as an independent risk factor for the prediction of RA within healthy individuals and also for RA disease activity. 相似文献
To study the role of VDR polymorphisms as risk factor for RA and osteoporosis, and whether osteoporosis complicating RA is due to RA or VDR polymorphisms.
Methods
VDR gene polymorphisms ApaI, TaqI, BsmI and FokI were typed by RFLP for 128 RA patients, 30 postmenopausal osteoporotic females and 150 healthy controls.
Results
Significant differences were found between patients and healthy controls in the frequency of BsmI and TaqI (Pc < 0.05) but no significant associations were found for FokI and ApaI polymorphisms except for aa genotype (Pc < 0.001). Titers of RF were higher with aa and bb genotypes. Anti-CCP and CRP levels were higher with aa genotype and more bone loss was associated with Bb genotype. Ff genotype frequency was higher in RA patients with osteoporosis than those without osteoporosis.
Conclusions
The ApaI, BsmI and TaqI polymorphisms may be a susceptibility risk factors for RA and the Ff genotype may be responsible for development of osteoporosis in RA Egyptian patients. However, the present study needs to be replicated in a large number of patients from allover the Egypt and also in multi-ethnic populations. 相似文献
The effect of misoprostol, a synthetic prostaglandin E1 analog, on the development of oxidative stress induced in mice with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) endotoxin was investigated. Misoprostol was administered by intraperitoneal route (i.p.) at doses of 10, 100, or 1,000 μg/kg at the time of LPS injection (200 μg/kg, i.p.). Mice were euthanized 4 h later. Lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde; MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), nitric oxide (nitrite/nitrate) levels as well as paraoxonase activity were measured in brain and liver. Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities as well as DNA fragmentation were determined in the liver. The administration of LPS increased oxidative stress both in the brain and liver tissue. There were significantly increased MDA and nitrite and decreased GSH and PON1 activity in the brain and liver, respectively. In addition, LPS was associated with markedly elevated plasma ALT and AST level as well as increased liver DNA fragmentation. The administration of misoprostol at 100 or 1,000 μg/kg decreased brain MDA by 17.6 and 30 %, increased GSH by 29.8 and 33.3 %, and decreased nitric oxide by 21.74 and 42.5 %, respectively, compared with the lipopolysaccharide control group. Liver MDA decreased by 27 %, GSH increased by 47.7 %, and nitric oxide decreased by 37.2 % with misoprostol at 1,000 μg/kg. Paraoxonase activity increased in both the brain and liver by misoprostol administration. The increase in liver AST and ALT and DNA fragmentation after endotoxin administration was normalized by misoprostol. These results indicate that misoprostol can alleviate oxidative stress in the presence of a mild systemic inflammatory illness, indicating a new and potentially important therapeutic application for the drug. 相似文献
