Open in a separate window OBJECTIVESWhether acute phase and immune responses are minimally affected following minimally invasive lung surgery needs further investigation. We performed a pilot study to evaluate the immune profile of patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery or robot-assisted thoracic surgery lobectomies for the treatment of suspicious or known stage I non-small-cell lung cancer.METHODSBlood samples were taken preoperatively and 3 and 24 h postoperatively were analysed for C-reactive protein, glucose, cortisol, tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin 8 (IL-8) and interleukin 10 (IL-10) levels. TNF-α, IL-8 and IL-10 were also measured in lung tissues. T (CD4, CD8), B (CD19) and natural killer (CD56, CD16) cell counts and natural killer cell functions were analysed using a flow cytometry-based assay before and after surgery.RESULTSMinimally invasive surgery (robot-assisted thoracic surgery + video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) significantly decreased IL-10 (P = 0.016) levels after surgery. No significant differences were detected in TNF-α (P = 0.48) and IL-8 (P = 0.15) levels before and after surgery. C-reactive protein (P < 0.001), cortisol (P < 0.001) and glucose levels (P < 0.001) increased significantly after surgery. Lymphocyte, total T cell, CD3+CD4+ and CD3+CD8+ CD16+CD56+ cell counts were significantly lower on postoperative day 1.CONCLUSIONThere seems to be a dynamic balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines and immune cells following minimally invasive lobectomy. 相似文献

A one-step preparation method for hybrid electromagnetic nanomaterials based on polydiphenylamine (PDPA) and bimetallic Co–Fe particles in the absence and presence of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) was proposed. During IR heating of PDPA in the presence of Co(ii) and Fe(iii) salts in an inert atmosphere at T = 450–600 °C, the polycondensation of diphenylamine (DPA) oligomers and dehydrogenation of phenyleneamine units of the polymer with the formation of C N bonds and reduction of metals by evolved hydrogen with the formation of bimetallic Co–Fe particles dispersed in a polymer matrix occur simultaneously. When carbon nanotubes are introduced into the reaction system, a nanocomposite material is formed, in which bimetallic Co–Fe particles immobilized on SWCNT are distributed in the matrix of the polymer. According to XRD data, reflection peaks of bimetallic Co–Fe particles at diffraction scattering angles 2θ = 69.04° and 106.5° correspond to a solid solution based on the fcc-Co crystal lattice. According to SEM and TEM data, a mixture of particles with sizes of 8–30 nm and 400–800 nm (Co–Fe/PDPA) and 23–50 nm and 400–1100 nm (Co–Fe/SWCNT/PDPA) is formed in the nanocomposites. The obtained multifunctional Co–Fe/PDPA and Co–Fe/SWCNT/PDPA nanomaterials demonstrate good thermal, electrical and magnetic properties. The saturation magnetization of the nanomaterials is MS = 14.99–31.32 emu g−1 (Co–Fe/PDPA) and MS = 29.48–48.84 emu g−1 (Co–Fe/SWCNT/PDPA). The electrical conductivity of the nanomaterials reaches 3.5 × 10−3 S cm−1 (Co–Fe/PDPA) and 1.3 S cm−1 (Co–Fe/SWCNT/PDPA). In an inert medium, at 1000 °C the residue is 71–77%.In a self-organizing system within one stage under IR heating conditions, hybrid nanomaterials are formed with a structure that contains bimetallic Co–Fe particles, free or immobilized on the SWCNT surface, dispersed in the polymer PDPA matrix. 相似文献

The new measures implemented in hospitals also altered the operation of orthopedics and traumatology departments. The main purpose of this article is to discuss how orthopedic oncology clinics should be organized during the pandemic and to present the process management scheme for patients requiring orthopedic surgery, including trauma surgery, from diagnosis to treatment, together with our experiences. Instead of thinking about the global emergence of the epidemic, it is time to act decisively. At first glance, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and orthopedics may seem to be unrelated disciplines, but the provision of healthcare services to patients who require them proves that these two fields are parts of the same whole. Our experiences in treating neutropenic, lymphocytopenic, and chemotherapy patients seem to have proven beneficial during this process. We operated on 10 biopsy patients, 15 primary bone sarcomas, 9 soft tissue sarcomas, and 82 trauma patients within this time frame. Only three patients were suspected to have COVID-19 before admission. The early identification, strict isolation, and effective treatment of these patients prevented any nosocomial infections and disease-related comorbidities. This success is the result of the multidisciplinary cooperation of the Ministry of Health, our hospital, and our clinic. 相似文献

This experimental study was designed to assess and to compare intra-abdominal adhesions following the use of five commercially available prosthetic mesh grafts in the repair if abdominal wall defects. Sixty Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into six groups (n = 10). A 2 × 1 cm defect at abdominal wall was created and defects were closed either primarily or with one of the following prosthetic mesh grafts: monofilament polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose-coated polypropylene, polypropylene/polyglactin 910 composite, or resorbable hydrophilic collagen-coated multifiber polyester. The severity of adhesions was graded, tensile strengths of adhesions were measured, and histopathological grades of inflammation and fibrosis were evaluated. Polypropylene mesh resulted in more adhesion formation in comparison to primary repair and other grafts used in this study, except polypropylene/polyglactin 910 composite mesh. In addition, the highest tensile strength of omental adhesions was detected in the polypropylene group (χ2 = 26.249; p =. 0001). Polyester composite mesh caused the least adhesion formation among the groups. Sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose-coated polypropylene and polyester composite meshes revealed the highest fibrosis scores (χ2 = 50.776; p =. 0001). The highest inflammatory activity was detected in the polytetrafluoroethylene mesh group (χ2 = 16.564; p =. 005). Thus, sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose-coated polypropylene and polytetrafluoroethylene meshes following polyester composite mesh were the minimal adhesion-forming grafts in this study. Background
The aim of this current report is to present an unusual case of a maxillary ameloblastoma mimicking an oroantral fistula.Case report
A left subtotal maxillectomy via Weber–Ferguson-type incision was performed. The patient tolerated the procedure well, the postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged 3 days after surgery with a mild paraesthesia of the right infraorbital nerve distribution. The infraorbital nerve paraesthesia has resolved 5 months after resection. The patient has been followed-up for 3 years without recurrence.Discussion
