Interpolymer reactions between poly(acrylic acid) and poly(vinyl ether) of ethylene glycol were studied by viscometric and spectroturbidimetric methods in aqueous and organic solutions of different nature. It is shown that the formation of interpolymer complexes strongly depends on the strength of the polymer-solvent interaction. A decrease of the thermodynamical quality of the solvents should be favorable for the complexation process.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The relationship between psychopathology and cognitive functioning in schizophrenia is of interest, both for an understanding of the nature of the disease, and for comprehensive treatment planning. The aim of this study was to investigate how psychiatric symptoms affect, and are affected by, cognitive remediation. METHOD: Fifty-four psychiatric inpatients received either cognitive remediation exercises (remediation group) or no cognitive intervention (control group). The subjects' scores on tests of cognition and on the Positive and Negative Symptoms Scale (PANSS) were measured before, after the 10 session treatment, and again 4 weeks post treatment. RESULTS: Only the remediation group showed significant and persistent improvement on all three PANSS Subscales as well as on the Positive Symptoms and Depression Factors. There were no significant between-group differences on any PANSS pre/posttreatment change scores. Baseline measures of psychopathology did not correlate meaningfully with amount of change made on cognitive measures after rehabilitation. CONCLUSIONS: A brief 10-session course of cognitive remediation is sufficient to benefit cognition and has some positive effects on psychopathology as measured by the PANSS, but does not add significantly to the effects of standard psychiatric treatment on psychopathology. Furthermore, psychiatric symptom profile is not predictive of the degree to which cognitive symptoms respond to cognitive remediation. The differential impact of cognitive remediation on cognition and psychopathology may imply that psychopathology and cognitive functioning follow fairly independent treatment courses.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To determine the mechanism that leads to the UVA light-dependent loss of glutathione reductase (GR) activity in human lens (HL). METHODS: Both the HL water-soluble (WS) fraction and yeast GR were irradiated with UVA light (200 mW/(cm(2). h) for 1 hour at +20 degrees C, and the specific activity (SA) was observed. GR apoenzyme (apo-GR) was prepared from either HL-WS fractions or yeast GR by treatment with a cold solution of acidic ammonium sulfate. Reconstitution of apo-GR was conducted by mixing enzyme with an excess of flavine adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and purification of GR on a size-exclusion separation column. RESULTS: One hour of UVA photolysis of an HL-WS fraction resulted in a 96% decrease in the SA of GR (6.32 +/- 0.22 vs. 0.39 +/- 0.01 mU/mg lens protein). Action spectra of GR SA in the WS fraction from HL within the range 320 to 500 nm showed that the enzyme was most vulnerable to the wavelengths in the UVA region with the highest decrease in the SA at 320 to 350 nm ( approximately 23%-28% activity loss within 1 hour of irradiation), and lowest with the wavelengths beyond 400 nm (7%-8% SA loss). UVA irradiation of apo-GR in the crude HL-WS fraction, followed by reconstitution with FAD, showed that 90% of the original SA was recovered. The original GR activity either in HL or yeast GR, however, was not recovered by (NH(4))(2)SO(4) (pH 2.25) treatment followed by reconstitution with FAD after UVA photolysis. Experiments with UVA-photolyzed yeast GR revealed that UVA photolysis caused the formation of additional SH groups within the enzyme, as shown by the incorporation of an SH-specific fluorescent probe, 4-(aminosulfonyl)-7-fluoro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole (ABD-F). Similar results were obtained on the photolyzed iodoacetamide-alkylated yeast GR, which was evaluated by matrix-assisted desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry. CONCLUSIONS: The results show that the reduction of HL GR activity by UVA light was directly linked to the presence of FAD within the enzyme. That the irradiated GR showed de novo formed SH groups argues that UVA photolysis of GR leads to the reduction of the redox-active disulfide within the reaction center of the enzyme, making it inactive.  相似文献

The filarial nematode Dirofilaria repens is currently considered to be one of the most extensively spreading human and animal parasites in Europe. In Ukraine, reporting cases of dirofilariasis has been mandatory since 1975, and the disease was included in the national surveillance system for notifiable diseases. Up until December 31st 2012, a total of 1533 cases have been registered, with 1465 cases occurring within the previous 16 years. Most of the cases of dirofilariasis were registered in 6 regions: Kyiv, and the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Chernihiv oblasts. In the years 1997–2002 the highest incidence rate was noted in the Kherson oblast in the south of the country (9.79 per 100 000 people), and the lowest in western Ukraine (0.07–1.68 per 100 000 people). D. repens infections were registered in all oblasts. Parasitic lesions were most often located in the head, the subconjunctival tissue and around the eyes. D. repens lesions were also found in the limbs, torso, male sexual organs, and female mammary glands. Dirofilariasis was diagnosed in persons aged from 11 months to 90 years old, most often among people between 21–40 years of age. Most patients had only one parasitic skin lesion; the majority of isolated nematodes were female. The results of our analysis point to a constant increase in D. repens dirofilariasis incidence in humans in Ukraine. Despite educational efforts, infections have become more frequent and the territory in which the disease occurs has enlarged to encompass the whole of Ukraine. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian sanitary-epidemiological services managed to achieve some measure of success, e.g. by creating a registration system for D. repens infections and establishing proper diagnostics for the disease.  相似文献

This work reports the synthesis of boronated chitosan by reacting it with 4-carboxyphenylboronic acid to improve its mucoadhesive properties. Three products with differing extent of boronate conjugation were synthesized and characterized using 1H NMR, FT-IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and the potential of these polymers to extend the residence time of loaded model drug in the bladder was investigated. 1H NMR and ninhydrin test were used to evaluate the extent of chitosan modification. Mucoadhesive properties were evaluated using ex vivo flow-through technique on porcine bladder mucosal tissue combined with fluorescent microscopy, where fluorescein sodium was used as a model drug. The mucoadhesive properties of these polymers on porcine bladder mucosa were also studied using tensile test. There was good correlation in the mucoadhesive profiles of the polymers using the flow through and tensile techniques. The degree of chitosan modification had a remarkable influence on their mucoadhesive behavior, and greater mucoadhesion was observed with increased degree of boronation. These chitosan derivatives have the potential as intravesical drug delivery systems to improve bladder therapy.  相似文献
