Abstract The influence of alcohol (ethanol) on sleep was investigated in 10 men. Polysomnography (PS) was recorded on a baseline night (BL-N) and an ethanol (0.8 g/kg) night (Et-N). On visual score rapid eye movement (REM) sleep was reduced, REM latency was prolonged on Et-N as compared to BL-N. Using the fast Fourier transformation method, electroencephalographic power density of REM sleep in δ frequencies band and in the 10–12 Hz range of non-REM sleep were enhanced. REM sleep and non-RJEM sleep changes were prominent in the second-half and first-half of the night, respectively.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the usefulness of cutaneous microcirculatory monitoring during hemorrhage. We observed changes in cutaneous blood volume, velocity and flow of five adult rabbits during hemorrhage by using a laser Doppler flowmetry. Mean arterial blood pressure, heart rate and blood gas values were measured. Cutaneous blood volume, velocity and flow decreased significantly after drawing 10 mL/kg of blood, while heart rate, mean arterial blood pressure and blood gas did not change. The decrease of cutaneous blood velocity preceded that of blood volume and was associated more deeply with the reduction of blood flow. In conclusion, cutaneous microcirculatory monitoring using laser Doppler flowmetry is a sensitive technique for detecting early changes of circulatory failure caused by hemorrhage.  相似文献

Serum levels of the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) were measured in 268 patients with liver diseases by means of a one-step sandwich enzyme immunoassay. In the cases of acute hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis (CAH), liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the levels of TIMP-1 were higher than those of the control group. Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 levels correlated with type III procollagen peptide and with type IV collagen, indicating TIMP-1 as a useful marker for hepatic fibrosis. Levels of TIMP-1 also correlated with aspartate aminotransserase and alanine aminotransferase levels and showed the highest levels in acute hepatitis. Thus, TIMP-1 might also reflect hepatic inflammation. Serum levels of α-fetoprotein and TIMP-1 had a significant positive correlation in patients with HCC. A cut-off level of TIMP-1 between LC and HCC was set at 440 ng/mL, having a low sensitivity and a high specificity. These results suggest the usefulness of TIMP-1 as a tumour marker in cases of HCC where α-fetoprotein levels are not elevated.  相似文献

Abstract— Sulphadimethoxine (SDM), and its metabolites, N4-acetyl SDM, N1-(2-methyl-6-hydroxy-4-pyrimidinyl) sulphanilamide (6-OH-SDM), N1-(6-methyl-2-hydroxy-4-pyrimidinyl) sulphanilamide (2-OH-SDM), N1-(2,6-dihydroxy-4-pyrimidinyl) sulphanilamide (2,6-diOH-SDM) and SDM N1-glucuronide in chicken tissues were extracted, partially purified by Bond Elute SCX cartridges, and assayed and identified by HPLC/LC-MS after administration of SDM to chickens. During the administration and 24 h after withdrawal, SDM and 6-OH-SDM were observed in almost all tissues and excreta. N4-Acetyl SDM and 2,6-diOH-SDM were observed in some tissues, but 2-OH-SDM and SDM N1-glucuronide were observed in a few limited tissues. Twenty four hours after withdrawal, SDM and its metabolites, except 6-OH-SDM, decreased. SDM and its metabolites were eliminated from all tissues within 48 h of withdrawal.  相似文献

Our studies have shown that the method of quantitative pharmaco-electroencephalo-graphy, using digital computer period analysis of the EEG and statistical procedures in the evaluation of a new drug can: a) determine the drug's central effectiveness when given the first time in man, b) predict its clinical value, and c) predict its effective single dosage ranges. Although the scalp-recorded EEG is a less than perfect method of evaluating human behavior, our experimental studies, as well as clinical trials, have demonstrated that it is an extremely useful approach in the very early evaluation of new drugs.  相似文献

Abstract: To study the pathogenetic role of Helicobacter pylori, colonization of this organism was attempted in conventional rhesus monkeys. After inoculation of human H. pylori to the gastric mucosa of four 10-year-old monkeys, endoscopical and histological examinations were repeated for 10 weeks. The organisms were recovered bacteriologically from all 4 monkeys at the first week, from 3 animals at the 2nd, and from 2 animals at the 6th to 10th week. The endoscopical examination showed only minimum changes in the mucosal appearance such as erythema and erosion due to H. pylori colonization throughout the study. In contrast, the histological examination revealed prominent polymorphonuclear cell infiltration, edema of the mucosa and dissected epithelium at the earlier periods and mononuclear cell infiltration afterwards. The maximum lymphocyte reaction such as clusters or the formation of a thick layer at the bottom of the lamina propria was observed at the 8th week. These results indicated that rhesus monkeys can be infected by human H. pylori resulting in similar pathologic changes in the human stomach, and that this animal model may be useful for future studies.  相似文献

We present a case of aortic aneurysm in a four-year-old child complicated with tuberous sclerosis. We used the same general principles as for adult patients and successfully managed our patient. Our methods included the use of isoflurane plus epidural anaesthesia, dopamine to maintain blood pressure, and induced mild hypothermia to reduce brain metabolism and to prevent spinal cord damage during aortic cross-clamping. Intensive monitoring including EEG was beneficial to the anaesthetic management.  相似文献

Abstract We report a patient, a 30-year-old male Japanese-Brazilian migrant construction worker, suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness for at least 6 months. Electroencephalogram recordings during his waking states showed that 10-Hz and 60-µV alpha activity was present prominently in the occipital regions. From the multiple sleep latency test, it was found that stages 1–2 NREM sleep episodes appeared repetitively without any REM episodes, and that the mean sleep latency was 10.2 min. These findings support the diagnosis that this patient suffers from subwakefulness syndrome.  相似文献
