Purpose
The aim of this study was to elucidate the distribution of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) values in patients who underwent gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at different types of hospitals.Materials and methods
We retrospectively studied 2,550 patients who underwent MRI at five institutions. We recorded the date and value of each patient??s eGFR test. The distribution of eGFR values was compared with that in the general Japanese population.Results
A total of 84.3% of patients had their eGFRs evaluated before GBCA-enhanced MRI. Of these, 84.7% were evaluated within 3?months before the GBCA-enhanced MRI, and 1.3% were evaluated on the day of the GBCA-enhanced MRI. A total of 87.2% of patients tested had an eGFR of ??60?ml/min/1.73?m2; 12.8% had an eGFR of <60 and ??30?ml/min/1.73?m2, and no patients had an eGFR of <30?ml/min/1.73?m2.Conclusion
The rate of renal function evaluation differed among hospitals. The prevalence of low eGFR values was greater in Juntendo Tokyo Koto Geriatric Medical Center than in the other hospitals, and the prevalence of low eGFR values was greater in patients who underwent GBCA-enhanced MRI than in the general Japanese population. 相似文献82.

Generators of median short-latency somatosensory evoked potentials were studied with three orthodiagonal pairs of bipolar electrodes. N11 was attributed to the dorsal root and dorsal column volleys. N13 had at least two subcomponents, generator dipoles of which are directed horizontally (N13a) and axially (N13b). N13a was generated in the lower cervical cord. N13b (bipolar) and P14 far-field (noncephalic reference) appeared to originate in the cuneate nucleus or spinocerebellar tracts as well as in the medial lemniscus. Bipolar recordings were useful in localizing cervical cord lesions, which was impossible in conventional monopolar recordings. 相似文献

Lymphangioma rarely presents as a solitary pulmonary lesion. We encountered a case of solitary cystic lymphangioma and present its clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical findings. A 2-month-old boy was referred to the hospital after developing a persistent cough. Chest X-ray showed a large cyst in the right lung. Under the preoperative diagnosis of bronchogenic cyst, he underwent right lower lobectomy at the age of 11 months. The resected specimen contained a 5.5-cm septate cystic lesion. Microscopically, the lesion consisted of a large cystic space and interconnected slit-like spaces surrounding bronchovascular islands. The cyst was lined by a monolayer of flat cells with focal multinucleated giant cells. Immunohistochemically, the cells lining the cystic lesion were positive for D2-40, Prox1, CD34, and CD31, and weakly positive for VEGFR-3, but were negative for AE1/3, HMB45, VEGF-A, VFGF-C, VEGFR-1. Differential diagnoses included lobar or interstitial emphysema, bronchogenic cyst, congenital pulmonary airway malformation and alveolar adenoma. D2-40 and Prox1 were useful in differentiation and in determining the extent of the lesion. A review of the literature found only 15 cases of solitary pulmonary lymphangioma. In younger patients, the lesions tend to occupy more of the lung. Focal giant cell reaction has not been described in the reported papers. 相似文献

Papillary adenoma of type II pneumocytes is a rare tumour. It is considered to be a benign neoplasm and is derived from immature cells in the bronchioloalveolar epithelium, however, its biological nature has not been elucidated. We report a case of an adenomatous tumour; a papillary adenoma of type II pneumocytes, which we regard as possessing malignant potential. Light microscopically, as well circumscribed, papillary tumour of predominantly cuboidal cells resembling type II pneumocytes was found, but Clara type and ciliated cells were also present. Immunohistochemically, the tumour cells reacted positively with antibodies to surfactant apoproteins (A, B), carcinoembryonic antigen, cytochrome P-450 1A1-2 and 2B1-2. Ultrastructurally, many osmiophilic lamellar bodies and electron-dense granules were demonstrated. Semi-serial sections revealed signs of transbronchial dissemination and vascular invasion. Morphometry using 12-dimensional cluster analysis disclosed features of the tumour cells which resembled those of pneumocyte type II adenocarcinoma. These findings suggest that the present case has some malignant characteristics and originates from immature bronchiolar or alveolar cells, with a potential to develop into both type II pneumocyte and Clara cell type adenocarcinomas. 相似文献

Podoplanin is a transmembrane glycoprotein indirectly linked to classic cadherins through ezrin-actin networks. Recently, the overexpression of podoplanin in high-grade malignancy brain tumors has been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of podoplanin and classic cadherins in the mouse brain. Immunohistochemistry showed that podoplanin was expressed on ependymal cells and choroid plexus epithelial cells at the ventricle side of the cell surface and at the cell-cell junctions, and on retinal pigment epithelial cells and in the pia mater; P-cadherin between choroid plexus epithelial cells and endothelial cells at the basement membrane side of cell surface, and between retinal pigment epithelial cells; VE-cadherin on the PECAM-1 positive-choroid plexus endothelial cells of the fibrovascular core; and N-cadherin on the cell surface and at the cell-cell junctions of ependymal cells, and in the pia mater. The regions expressing podoplanin, P-cadherin, and VE-cadherin did not coincide. In real-time PCR analysis, the amounts of podoplanin and P- and N-cadherin mRNA were larger in the ventricular wall with choroid plexus than in the abdominal aorta and cerebrum. In the RT-PCR analysis, the intensities of amplicon for VE-cadherin mRNA were the same for the abdominal aorta, cerebrum, and ventricular wall with the choroid plexus, suggesting that mouse ependymal cells, choroid plexus epithelial cells, and glial cells under the pia mater have the ability to express podoplanin and P- and N-cadherins. Glial cells and retinal pigment epithelial cells may create barriers by podoplanin and classic cadherins as a rate-determining step for transmission of blood components. 相似文献

Engineered skeletal muscle tissues are ideal candidates for applications in drug screening systems, bio-actuators, and as implantable constructs in tissue engineering. Electrical field stimulation considerably improves the differentiation of muscle cells to muscle myofibers. Currently used electrical stimulators often use direct contact of electrodes with tissue constructs or their culture medium, which may cause hydrolysis of the culture medium, joule heating of the medium, contamination of the culture medium due to products of electrodes corrosion, and surface fouling of electrodes. Here, we used an interdigitated array of electrodes combined with an isolator coverslip as a contactless platform to electrically stimulate engineered muscle tissue, which eliminates the aforementioned problems. The effective stimulation of muscle myofibers using this device was demonstrated in terms of contractile activity and higher maturation as compared to muscle tissues without applying the electrical field. Due to the wide array of potential applications of electrical stimulation to two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) cell and tissue constructs, this device could be of great interest for a variety of biological applications as a tool to create noninvasive, safe, and highly reproducible electric fields. 相似文献

Iodine-123 labelled iomazenil ([123I]IMZ) has been reported to be a useful marker of neuronal viability. The brain distribution of [123I]IMZ, however, has not been correlated with the pathophysiological response in detail after an ischaemic insult. To characterise [123I]IMZ as a marker of neuronal viability, we compared its brain distribution with cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression, DNA fragmentation and cellular integrity. [123I]IMZ and [125I]IMP were injected into rats with focal cerebral ischaemia for the purpose of dual-tracer autoradiography. COX-2 and microtubule-associated protein-2 (MAP-2, a marker of cellular integrity) were immunostained. In situ DNA polymerase-I-dependent dUTP incorporation into damaged DNA was used as an indicator of DNA fragmentation. Lesion to normal ratios (LNRs) for [123I]IMP and [125I]IMZ were calculated. [123I]IMZ accumulation was preserved in several regions with impaired [123I]IMP accumulation. COX-2 expression was occasionally observed, whereas neither DNA fragmentation nor MAP-2 denaturation was detected in these regions. DNA fragmentation and impaired MAP-2 immunostaining were observed only in the regions with reduced LNRs for both tracers. The LNR for [123I]IMZ was significantly lower in regions with impaired MAP-2 immunostaining (0.120±0.152, P<0.0001), in regions positive for dUTP incorporation (0.488±0.166, P<0.0001) and in regions positive for COX-2 expression (0.626±0.186, P<0.001) than in histologically normal regions (0.784±0.213). Thus, neuronal DNA is still intact and cellular integrity is maintained in the ischaemic regions with preserved [123I]IMZ accumulation. The impairment of [123I]IMZ accumulation precedes DNA fragmentation and denaturation of cellular integrity. These results provide the molecular basis of [123I]IMZ distribution. 相似文献
