Somatomedin C/IGF I, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHAS), testosterone (T) or estradiol (E2) have been measured in 154 patients of a previous study in which growth hormone (GH) responses to classical pharmacologic stimuli and spontaneous growth hormone secretion during sleep were compared in short children before and at the beginning of puberty. Five groups were identified: Group I, normal growth hormone secreting children; group II, completely growth hormone deficient; group III, partially growth hormone deficient; group IV, with normal sleep secretion and low responses to stimuli; group V, with the reverse situation. The somatomedin C/IGF I levels were widely dispersed. In group I, the mean +/- SEM levels of somatomedin C/IGF I were 0.77 +/- 0.047 U/ml before puberty and 1.36 +/- 0.142 U/ml in early pubertal patients, with a relation to age (r = 0.52, p less than 0.001). The difference between prepubertal and pubertal patients was significant. In groups II to V, there was no pubertal rise of somatomedin C/IGF I. In group II, the mean IGF I level was 0.48 +/- 0.05 U/ml, significantly lower than in prepubertal patients of group I. In groups III, IV and V, it was 0.7 +/- 0.069 U/ml, 0.8 +/- 0.059 U/ml, and 0.73 +/- 0.059 U/ml respectively, not different from prepubertal patients of group I, but significantly lower than in early pubertal patients of the same group. In prepubertal patients, somatomedin C/IGF I was slightly but highly significantly correlated to growth hormone sleep secretion (r = 0.27, p less than 0.001) and to dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (r = 0.36, p less than 0.001), but growth hormone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate were not correlated with each other.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

A retrospective study of 35 patients with small bowel neoplasms studied by computed tomography (CT) was performed. The tumor detection rate was 80%. Using the findings reported in the literature, an adequate histological diagnosis could be performed in 69% of the cases by CT. Lipomas, leiomyomas, leiomyosarcomas, and carcinoid tumors were well-recognized, but adenocarcinomas and lymphomas were often mistaken one for the other. An accurate preoperative staging was performed in 61% of the cases. CT failed to detect 75% of the invaded lymph nodes, 25% of the liver metastases, and 25% of the tumoral growth beyond the bowel wall. Despite major limitations in preoperative staging, a good detection rate and some features allowing a specific diagnosis advocate using CT along with the barium examination when clinical history suggests a small bowel tumor.  相似文献

Delayed enhancement MRI using extracellular contrast media allows reliable detection of myocardial infarction. If blood pool contrast media like P792 (Vistarem, Guerbet, France), in addition to improving coronary MR angiography, can be shown to also produce delayed enhancement in myocardial infarction they could improve the prerequisites for a comprehensive cardiac MR examination. In this study reperfused myocardial infarction in five minipigs was imaged with an inversion-recovery fast low-angle shot sequence using P792 (0.013 mmol Gd/kg) and the extracellular contrast medium Gd-DOTA (Dotarem, 0.1 mmol Gd/kg, Guerbet). The infarction size determined on MRI using P792 (7.55 +/- 2.31 cm(2)) highly correlated both with histomorphometry (7.81 +/- 2.18 cm(2), r = 0.991, P < 0.002) and with MRI using Gd-DOTA (7.85 +/- 2.35 cm(2), r = 0.978, P < 0.005). Bland-Altman analysis showed that the limit of agreement of MRI using P792 compared to histomorphometry was 3.3 +/- 7.6% of the infarction size. The contrast-to-noise ratio between infarcted and remote myocardium was not significantly different between Gd-DOTA (5.9 +/- 2.4) and P792 (4.4 +/- 1.1, P = 0.5). The blood pool contrast medium P792 allows reliable assessment of viability with good contrast and accuracy.  相似文献

Isoprinosine was given at daily doses of 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 g kg-1 of body weight to jirds that were infected for 3 months with Echinococcus multilocularis metacestodes. The effects of the different drug doses on metacestodes were studied by transmission electron microscopy and biochemical methods. At lower doses, increases in uric acid and adenosine deaminase activity were noted. At 4 g kg-1 of body weight, marked ultrastructural damage with metabolic perturbations was observed.  相似文献
