A potential molecular marker associated with cancer susceptibility as well as metastasis, prognosis and adverse survival, is the L-myc gene. The studies of lung cancer patients from different populations have yielded controversial results. We studied 64 nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients and 37 healthy controls of Turkish origin for L-myc gene polymorphism. Our aim was to test the hypothesis that there was association between L-myc S allele in NSCLC and predisposition to the disease and TNM stage indicating tumor size, node classification and metastasis. Polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism and agarose gel electrophoresis were used to determine the L-myc oncogene genotypes. We found no significant difference, both in the distribution of the LL, LS and SS genotypes and in the allelic frequencies, between the patient group and the control group; that is, the frequencies of L-myc alleles were, L and S, 0.59 and 0.41, 0.60 and 0.40, respectively. Our data between the patient group and the control group; that is, the frequencies of L-myc alleles were, L and S, 0.59 and 0.41, 0.60 and 0.40, respectively. Our data concerning age, sex, size of tumors, histological type of tumors showed no significant association with L-myc genotype. However, a higher frequency of L-myc S allele in the squamous cell carcinoma compared to other histological groups was found, although this difference was not statistically significant. No association was found between the L-myc RFLP and increased risk of metastasis either to the lymph nodes or to other organs. Our results suggested that L-myc gene polymorphism was not a suitable prognostic marker of metastatic development in Turkish NSCLC patients.  相似文献

This study investigated the relationship between theory of mind (ToM) deficits and visual perception in patients with schizophrenia (N=52; 17 remitted and unmedicated) compared with healthy controls (N=30). ToM was assessed with the Eyes Test, which asked participants to choose which of 4 words best described the mental state of a person whose eyes were depicted in a photograph. Visual perception was evaluated with form and motion coherence threshold measurements. Results revealed that patients with schizophrenia (both remitted and nonremitted) showed deficits on the Eyes Test and the motion coherence task. ToM dysfunctions were associated with higher motion coherence thresholds and more severe negative symptoms. This suggests that ToM deficits are related to motion perception dysfunctions, which indicates a possible role of motion-sensitive areas in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.  相似文献

Summary: The equilibrium swelling degree, modulus of elasticity and the spatial inhomogeneity of poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide) (PDMAAm) hydrogels were investigated over the entire range of the initial monomer concentration. The degree of dilution of the networks after their preparation was denoted by ν, the volume fraction of crosslinked polymer after the gel preparation. The linear swelling ratio of the gels increased linearly with increasing ν. Depending on the value of ν, three different gel regimes were observed: (1) For ν < 0.3, increasing ν decreases the extent of cyclization during crosslinking so that the effective crosslink density of gels increases with rising ν. (2) For 0.3 < ν < 0.7, increasing ν reduces the accessibility of the pendant vinyl groups during crosslinking due to steric hindrance at high polymer concentrations. As a result, the effective crosslink density of gels decreases with increasing ν. (3) For ν > 0.7, the modulus of elasticity increases sharply with increasing ν due to the increasing extent of chain entanglements in this high concentration regime. Static light scattering measurements on the gels show that the degree of spatial gel inhomogeneity in PDMAAm gels attains a maximum value at ν = 0.06. The appearance of a maximum as well as the ν‐dependence of scattered light intensities from gels was successfully reproduced by the theory proposed by Panyukov and Rabin.

Pregnancy can cause changes in the functioning of the eye in health and in disease and also affect preexisting ocular conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy. Progression of retinopathy in pregnancy depends on a variety of factors, including severity of retinopathy at conception, adequacy of treatment, duration of diabetes, metabolic control before pregnancy, and the presence of additional vascular damage (ie, preexisting or concomitant hypertensive disorder). Developments in medical, obstetrical, and ophthalmologic management of the pregnant diabetic have greatly improved the prognosis for successful pregnancies and maintaining vision.  相似文献

GM1 gangliosidosis is an autosomal recessive glycosphingolipid storage disease caused by defects in the enzyme beta-galactosidase. Three clinical forms (infantile-, juvenile-, and adult-onset) of the disease are recognized. Patients with infantile GM1 gangliosidosis present at birth or shortly thereafter with somatic and bony changes, followed by severe neurological deterioration ultimately leading to death within the first 2 years of life. We present the brain CT, MRI and MR spectroscopy (MRS) findings in a 17-month-old Turkish girl with infantile GM1 gangliosidosis. Neuroimaging findings in patients with infantile GM1 gangliosidosis have been reported only in a few cases. In this study, MRS of the thalamus was performed to study the metabolic changes in GM1 gangliosidosis. We showed a a decreased NAA/Cr ration and an increased Cho/Cr ratio. To our knowledge, this is the first report of magnetic resonance spectroscopy findings in type-1 GM1 gangliosidosis.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of diltiazem on the bioavailability of oral and intravenous cyclosporine (CsA) in rats. While control rats received normal saline, experimental groups received 60 or 90 mg/kg diltiazem orally for 3 days. Each group divided into 2 equal groups that received a single oral dose or i.v. injection of CsA. Pharmacokinetic parameters were analyzed by nonparametric analysis of variance. Pretreatment with 60 or 90 mg/kg diltiazem decreased the area under the blood CsA concentration-time curve (AUC) of oral CsA compared to control group (54.5% and 65.5% for AUC(0-24), 57.6% and 62.2% for AUC(0-infinity), respectively, p<0.05). Mean CsA maximum concentration (Cmax) decreased from 0.4 +/- 0.1 microg/ml to 0.1 +/- 0.0 microg/mL in rats pretreated with 90 mg/kg diltiazem (p<0.05). The absolute bioavailability after oral administration (F(p.o.)) in the 60 or 90 mg/kg diltiazem groups were lower than the control group (9.6% and 8.5% versus 22.6%). Pretreatment with 90 mg/kg but not 60 mg/kg of diltiazem increased the AUC(0-infinity), elimination half-life (t1/2) of intravenous CsA (116.0%, 219.2%, respectively, p<0.05) and decreased the intravenous CsA clearence (CL(i.v.)) (62.9%, p<0.05). Diltiazem decreased the bioavailability of oral CsA, while it increased the bioavailability of intravenous CsA. One must consider this interaction when administering oral or intravenous CsA concomitantly with diltiazem.  相似文献

BackgroundThe failure rate of vascular closure devices remains a significant cause of major vascular complications in contemporary transcatheter aortic valve implantation practice.MethodsThis research aimed to evaluate use of the Angio-Seal device in a bailout context in the setting of incomplete hemostasis following use of dual Perclose ProGlide devices in patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation. A total of 185 patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation with either dual Per-close ProGlide (n = 139) or a combination of dual Perclose ProGlide and Angio-Seal (n = 46) were retrospectively analyzed. The baseline, procedural characteristics, and all outcomes (defined according to Valve Academic Research Consortium-2 criteria) were compared.ResultsNo significant differences were seen between the dual Perclose ProGlide vs dual Perclose ProGlide+Angio-Seal groups with regard to the in-hospital Valve Academic Research Consortium-2 primary end points of major vascular complications (n = 13 [9.4%] vs n = 2 [4.3%]; P = .36), minor vascular complications (n = 13 [9.4%] vs n = 8 [14.7%]; P = .14), major bleeding (n = 16 [11.5%] vs n = 2 [4.3%]; P = .25), and minor bleeding (n = 9 [6.5%] vs n = 5 [10.9%]; P = .34), with higher rates of hematoma in the dual Perclose ProGlide+Angio-Seal group (n = 4 [2.9%] vs n = 5 [10.9%]; P = .044).ConclusionFinding from the current study suggest that adjunctive Angio-Seal deployment may be feasible and safe, especially in patients with incomplete hemostasis following dual Perclose ProGlide use, and can be an optimal “bailout” procedure.  相似文献

We aimed to obtain gamma amanitin with high purity through a purification process and compare toxic effects of alpha, beta, and gamma amanitin. Specific concentrations of the toxins (25, 10, 1, and 0.1?μg/mL) were applied to the C3A human hepatocytes. A MTT test was performed to determine the level of toxicity. Alpha amanitin showed a higher toxicity in 48?h while the lowest toxicity was observed in beta amanitin. The toxicity level of gamma amanitin was found between the alpha and beta amanitin toxicity. Our method is suitable for obtaining gamma amanitin with high purity (>99%) as well as for obtaining alpha amanitin and beta amanitin. Gamma amanitin has been shown to have equal responsibility for toxicity as alpha amanitin in amanita poisoning.  相似文献
