Equipment manufacturers provide contrast-specific detection techniques that have excellent sensitivity and excellent agent-to-tissue specificity along with helpful tools that improve workflow efficiency dramatically. Excellent contrast agents have been approved for LV opacification and are available worldwide. Techniques designed for low-MI imaging offer real-time acquisition capabilities and lead to faster examinations. Techniques designed for medium-MI imaging offer better sensitivity than low-MI techniques while maintaining the benefit of rapid image acquisition. Techniques designed for high-MI imaging offer the best sensitivity with longer acquisition times. These techniques are viable means for imaging contrast agents tailored to clinical needs. Progress by contrast agent manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, and physicians will continue to drive improvements in the areas of detection and clinical workflow for improved patient care.  相似文献

A patient manifesting the arthropathy of hemochromatosis without abnormal serum iron studies is described. Hemochromatosis was confirmed by liver biopsy. This case serves to emphasize the diagnostic value of the characteristic arthropathy of hemochromatosis. Our observations in this patient support the hypothesis that the pathogenesis of hereditary hemochromatosis differs from that of acquired iron overload states. The concurrent presence of hypouricemia is explored in this patient and in 18 other patients with hereditary hemochromatosis. Men with hereditary hemochromatosis were found to have lower serum uric acid levels than expected. In our patient, a renal defect in tubular reabsorption of uric acid appears responsible for hypouricemia.The apparent association of hemochromatosis and hypouricemia deserves further investigation.  相似文献

Isolated myocytes of rat heart, and sealed sarcolemmal vesicles of bovine heart, were used to examine the selectivity of the effects of partially reduced oxygen species (generated by a mixture of xanthine and xanthine oxidase) on cardiac sodium pump and several other ion transporters of the plasma membrane. When myocytes were exposed to xanthine plus xanthine oxidase, there were time-dependent inhibitions of ouabain-sensitive 86Rb+ uptake and (Na+ + K+)-ATPase activity that could be prevented by allopurinol, or by catalase and superoxide dismutase; suggesting the involvements of H2O2 or oxygen free radicals in the inhibition of the pump. This inhibition preceded any significant decrease in cellular ATP or in the number of viable cells. While ouabain increased 45Ca2+ uptake by myocytes as expected, exposure to xanthine plus xanthine oxidase decreased 45Ca2+ uptake; suggesting that the Na+, Ca2(+)-exchanger of the intact myocytes is also inhibited by oxygen metabolites. Simultaneous inhibitions of the pump, the Na+, Ca2(+)-exchange, the Na+, H(+)-exchange, and the Na+, Pi-cotransport activities also occurred in sarcolemmal vesicles that were treated with xanthine plus xanthine oxidase. These findings indicate that inactivations of the sodium pump and other sarcolemmal ion carriers are early events in the oxidant-induced damage to the cardiomyocyte. In the rat heart myocytes, a fraction of (Na+ + K+)-ATPase that seems to be more sensitive to ouabain, was inactivated more rapidly upon exposure of myocytes to xanthine plus xanthine oxidase; raising the possibility of the existence of different pump populations with different sensitivities to extracellularly generated oxygen metabolites.  相似文献

Objective

Activation changes at the interface of affective and cognitive systems are examined over a 3 year period in pediatric bipolar disorder (PBD).

Methods

Thirteen participants with PBD and 10 healthy controls (HC) matched on demographics and IQ were scanned at baseline, at 16 weeks, and after 3 years. All patients received pharmacotherapy based on a medication algorithm. A pediatric affective color matching paradigm was used to probe cognitive processing under emotional challenge.

Results

At baseline, in response to emotional vs. neutral words, patients with PBD showed greater activation than HC in the right dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and amygdala, ventral lateral prefrontal cortex (VLPFC), bilateral anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), and ventral striatum. Increased activation in DLPFC in the PBD group normalized by 16 weeks. By 3 years, normalization was observed in VLPFC, ACC, amygdala, and striatum.

Limitations

Small sample size renders the present findings preliminary.

Conclusions

Greater activation in fronto-striatal and fronto-limbic circuits were observed in unmedicated patients with PBD. Present findings suggest the possibility that DLPFC is most malleable to pharmacological intervention with systematic pharmacotherapy leading to immediate response, which extended to amygdalostriatal and ventral cortical regions at 3 years. The seminal observation from this study is the prolonged length of recovery time in the normalization of subcortical activity along with their interfacing cortical regions. Findings from this proof of concept study need to be replicated in a larger sample.  相似文献

ObjectiveThe aims of this study were to evaluate the psychometric properties of Persian translation of the Yale Food Addiction Scale 2.0 (YFAS 2.0) as a widely accepted questionnaire for the first time and to establish a cut off score for Food Craving Questionnaire-Trait-reduced (FCQ-T-r). MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, 330 visitors of family physician clinics in Shiraz, a city located in south of Iran, were selected. The English version of YFAS 2.0 was translated into Persian and used in this study as well as the Persian version of FCQ-T-r. ResultsConfirmatory factor analysis of YFAS-2 confirmed one dimensional structure and factor loading in all eleven symptoms was above 0.4. Internal consistency for eleven symptoms was 0.813. Prevalence of food addiction in participants was 6.7% (22 participants). BMI and FCQ-T-r questionnaire score both were positively correlated with the number of food addiction symptoms but age was negatively correlated with the number of the symptoms. The ROC curve analysis showed the best suggested cut-off point for FCQ-T-r questionnaire to detect food addiction was 32.5. ConclusionThe present study confirmed validity and reliability of Persian version of YFAS-2. It is suggested that food addiction occurs in different level of food craving behavior in different food cultures or genetics.  相似文献

The structure, adsorption characteristics, electronic properties, and charge transfer of SO2 and NO2 molecules on metal-doped gallium nitride nanosheets (M-GaNNSs; M = Ti and Cr) were scrutinized at the Grimme-corrected PBE/double numerical plus polarization (DNP) level of theory. Two types, MGa-GaNNSs and MN-GaNNSs, of doped nanostructures were found. The MGa sites are more stable than the MN sites. The results showed that adsorption of SO2 and NO2 molecules on TiGa,N-GaNNSs is energetically more favorable than the corresponding CrGa,N-GaNNSs. The stability order of complexes is energetically predicted to be as NO2–TiGa-GaNNS > NO2–TiN-GaNNS > SO2–TiGa-GaNNS > NO2–CrN-GaNNS > SO2–TiN-GaNNS > NO2–CrGa-GaNNS > SO2–CrN-GaNNS > SO2–CrGa-GaNNS. The electron population analysis shows that charge is transferred from MGa,N-GaNNSs to the adsorbed gases. The TiGa-GaNNS is more sensitive than the other doped nanostructures to NO2 and SO2 gases. It is estimated that the sensitivity of TiGa-GaNNS to NO2 gas is more than to SO2 gas.

The influences of transition metals (Cr and Ti) doping on the adsorption behavior of SO2 and NO2 gases on the metal doped Gallium Nitride Nanosheet (GaNNS) were explored at Grimme-corrected PBE/double numerical plus polarization (DNP) level of theory.  相似文献
