Cephalopina titillator is a common obligate parasite of camel in Africa and Asia. Camel bot fly causes severe economic losses to the camel such as reduction of milk production and fertility, diminution of physiological functions, difficulty in breathing, and tissue damage. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence and associated risk factors of C. titillator infestation in camels slaughtered in the abattoir of Yazd, center of Iran. Three hundred slaughtered camels were accurately inspected for presence of C. titillator larvae. The last abdominal ring of larvae was carefully sectioned. The sections were transparent and then slides of each sample were separately prepared and analyzed. The overall, prevalence of C. titillator was 52.3 % (157/300). Prevalence of the infestation in females (56 %) was greater than males (50.5 %). The infestation rate was significantly higher in colder months (62.5 %) compared to warmer ones (32.?%). The prevalence rate was lower in camels less than 4 years old (38.7 %) compared to those of 5–9 (57.2 %) and over 10 years old (51.8 %). Our study showed that high prevalence of C. titillator in camels of center and south areas of Iran. Due to negative effects of C.titillator infection on health and products of camel, further studies should be done to identify and control of camel bot fly in the studied areas.  相似文献

ObjectiveAim of study was to evaluate safety and efficacy of abluminal Mitigator DES + Sirolimus Eluting Stent (Envision Scientific, Surat, India) incorporating novel technology of fusion coating of bioresorbable polymer on both abluminal surface of stent and exposed parts of balloon among real world patients specially focusing younger patients (<35 years).Method1293 patients received Mitigator DES + at LPS Institute of Cardiology, Kanpur, India. Primary outcome was target lesion failure (TLF)- composite of cardiovascular death, target vessel myocardial infarction (TVMI), and target lesion revascularization (TLR) and secondary end points including peri-procedural device failure (failure of stent delivery, change of stent, stent fracture), target vessel failure (TVF), and patient oriented composite end point (POCE)-composite of all deaths, MI, and revascularization and stent thrombosis (ST) at 1-year follow-up.ResultYounger population comprised of 374 (29%) patients. Various indications of interventions were STEMI (n = 614; 47.4%), NSTEMI (n = 416; 32.2%), UA (n = 161; 12.5%), and CCS (n = 102; 7.9%). TLF at 1 year in young and overall population were 3.4% and 3.5% respectively which was driven by TVMI and TLR in 1.3% and 1.1% patients respectively. POCE was observed in 9.5% in each group mainly contributed by any revascularization (3.9%). Device failure was significantly lower in young group than overall population (1.3% vs. 2.2%; p = 0.04) which was mainly driven by stent delivery (1.1%) and edge dissection (0.5%). Definite and probable ST was 1.3% and 1.7% respectively which was not significant. Young patients showed insignificantly lower TLF, TVF, ST and POCE and significantly lower device failure (1.3% vs. 2.6%; p = 0.04) when compared to patients >35 years. On multivariate regression analysis, complex lesion, in-stent restenosis, failure of stent delivery and edge dissection were independent predictors of events or device success rate.ConclusionMitigator DES+™ is safe among real world patients, including young population.  相似文献

The present study was performed to show the ameliorative effect of berberine (BBR), as an antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory agent, against experimental varicocele (VCL)‐induced molecular and histological damages. For this purpose, 50 mature Wistar rats were divided into control, control‐sham, VCL‐sole, 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg BBR‐treated VCL‐induced groups. The tissue levels of interleukin‐6 (IL‐6), tumour necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α), nitric oxide (NO), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and gluthatione peroxidase (GSH‐px) as well as the mRNA levels of testicular CuZn SOD, MnSOD, EC‐SOD and GSH‐px were evaluated. The serum concentration of testosterone and germ cells mRNA damage were analysed. Finally, the sperm viability, motility, DNA integrity and chromatin condensation were analysed. Observations revealed that, the BBR significantly downregulated VCL‐increased IL‐6, TNF‐α and NO levels, upregulated the CuZn SOD, MnSOD, EC‐SOD and GSH‐px mRNA level, decreased testicular MDA content, enhanced serum testosterone level and ameliorated testicular TAC, SOD and GSH‐px levels. The animals in BBR‐treated groups exhibited diminished mRNA damage versus non‐treated VCL‐induced group. The BBR has significantly (p < 0.05) improved sperm parameters. In conclusion, the BBR by promoting testicular antioxidant potential and by downregulating inflammatory reactions fairly promotes spermatogenesis and upregulates the sperm quality.  相似文献

The importance of fibrosis in organ pathology and dysfunction appears to be increasingly relevant to a variety of distinct diseases. In particular, a number of different cardiac pathologies seem to be caused by a common fibrotic process. Within the heart, this fibrosis is thought to be partially mediated by transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1), a potent stimulator of collagen-producing cardiac fibroblasts. Previously, TGF-beta1 had been implicated solely as a modulator of the myocardial remodelling seen after infarction. However, recent studies indicate that dilated, ischaemic and hypertrophic cardiomyopathies are all associated with raised levels of TGF-beta1. In fact, the pathogenic effects of TGF-beta1 have now been suggested to play a major role in valvular disease and arrhythmia, particularly atrial fibrillation. Thus far, medical therapy targeting TGF-beta1 has shown promise in a multitude of heart diseases. These therapies provide great hope, not only for treatment of symptoms but also for prevention of cardiac pathology as well. As is stated in the introduction, most reviews have focused on the effects of cytokines in remodelling after myocardial infarction. This article attempts to underline the significance of TGF-beta1 not only in the post-ischaemic setting, but also in dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathies, valvular diseases and arrhythmias (focusing on atrial fibrillation). It also aims to show that TGF-beta1 is an appropriate target for therapy in a variety of cardiovascular diseases.  相似文献

Purpose

This study was designed to evaluate the protective effects of vitamin E (VitE) and testosterone on varicocele (VCL)-induced damage in testis and sperm parameters and their effects on Hsp70-2 chaperone expression and on antioxidant status.

Methods

Wistar rats were divided into five groups: control-sham, VCL-induced, VitE-treated varicocelized (150 mg/kg, orally), testosterone-administrated varicocelized (400 μg/kg, intraperitoneally) and VitE + testosterone-received VCL-induced rats. The sperm count, DNA integrity, motility, viability and histone-protamine transition were evaluated after 60 days. The antioxidant status was analyzed by determining testicular malondialdehyde (MDA), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), superoxide desmutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px). Endocrine status of the testicular tissue was estimated by evaluating the Leydig cells steroidogenic activity using fluorescent analyses for cytoplasmic steroid foci and by determination of serum testosterone. The expression of Hsp70-2 protein was analyzed using imunohistochemical and western blot analyses. RNA damage of the germinal cells was examined with epi-fluorescent examination.

Results

VitE and testosterone administration ameliorated the varicocele-reduced Leydig cell and testosterone level. In addition, co-administration of these compounds recovered the VCL-induced reduction of TAC, SOD, and GSH-px and lowered significantly (P < 0.05) the VCL-elevated content of MDA. The treated animals revealed with a significant (P < 0.05) up-regulation of the VCL-reduced expression of Hsp70-2 protein. Moreover, VitE and testosterone significantly (P < 0.05) inhibited the VCL-increased RNA damage in germinal cells.

Conclusion

Our data suggest that the protective effects of VitE and testosterone on VCL-induced derangements may depend on enhancing testicular antioxidant status and up-regulating endocrine activities, which enhanced the Hsp70-2 chaperone expression.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Ziprasidone may improve cognition in schizophrenia; however, this could be related to clinical symptom improvement, reflecting "pseudospecificity". We tested the hypothesis that ziprasidone improves cognition in the absence of clinical improvement. METHODS: We conducted a 12-week, open-label study of ziprasidone in 10 schizophrenia patients who met non-response criteria (<20% reduction in BPRS scores over 12 weeks). We conducted comprehensive cognitive testing and assessed change from baseline to end of study. RESULTS: We detected significant improvement on three measures of episodic memory (p<0.01) in these clinically non-responsive patients. Trend-level improvements were noted on tests involving processing speed and executive function. CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that ziprasidone has cognitive benefits unrelated to an influence on other disease parameters.  相似文献
