Polymer composites containing conductive fillers that utilize the piezoresistive effect can be employed in flexible pressure sensors. Depending on the filler used, different characteristics of a pressure sensor such as repeatability, sensitivity, and hysteresis can be determined. To confirm the variation of the pressure sensing tendency in accordance with the dimensions of the filler, carbon black (CB) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were used as representative 0-dimension and 1-dimension conductive fillers, respectively. The piezoresistive effect was exploited to analyze the process of resistance change according to pressure using CB/PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) and CNT/PDMS composites. The electrical characteristics observed for each filler were confirmed to be in accordance with its content. The pressure sensitivity of each composite was optimized, and the pressure-sensing mechanism that explains the difference in sensitivity is presented. Through repeated compression experiments, the hysteresis and repeatability of the pressure-sensing properties were examined.  相似文献

We discovered the efficient catalyst-free, photo-mediated oxidative cyclization reaction of bis-p-pyridinium benzoyl hydrazone (BH1) to 2-pyridinium-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles. This photoreaction is remarkable because it does not require additives (e.g., bases, strong oxidants, or photocatalysts), which are essential in previous reports, and proceeds very effectively even with solid-state microporous organic polymers. Interestingly, we found that the inclusion complexation of BH1 with cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) interferes with the photo-induced electron transfer from BH1 to molecular oxygen through modification of the LUMO energy level, thus inhibiting the photo-medicated oxidative cyclization.

BackgroundRecent genomic studies identified four discrete molecular subgroups of medulloblastoma (MB), and the risk stratification of childhood MB in the context of subgroups was refined in 2015. In this study, we investigated the effect of molecular subgroups on the risk stratification of childhood MB.MethodsThe nCounter® system and a customized cancer panel were used for molecular subgrouping and risk stratification in archived tissues.ResultsA total of 44 patients were included in this study. In clinical risk stratification, based on the presence of residual tumor/metastasis and histological findings, 24 and 20 patients were classified into the average-risk and high-risk groups, respectively. Molecular subgroups were successfully defined in 37 patients using limited gene expression analysis, and DNA panel sequencing additionally classified the molecular subgroups in three patients. Collectively, 40 patients were classified into molecular subgroups as follows: WNT (n = 7), SHH (n = 4), Group 3 (n = 8), and Group 4 (n = 21). Excluding the four patients whose molecular subgroups could not be determined, among the 17 average-risk group patients in clinical risk stratification, one patient in the SHH group with the TP53 variant was reclassified as very-high-risk using the new risk classification system. In addition, 5 out of 23 patients who were initially classified as high-risk group in clinical risk stratification were reclassified into the low- or standard-risk groups in the new risk classification system.ConclusionThe new risk stratification incorporating integrated diagnosis showed some discrepancies with clinical risk stratification. Risk stratification based on precise molecular subgrouping is needed for the tailored treatment of MB patients.  相似文献

In response to the rising need for flexible and lightweight materials capable of efficient heat transport, many studies have been conducted to improve the thermal properties of polymers via nanofillers. Among the various nanofillers, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are considered as the most promising, owing to their excellent thermal and electrical properties. Accordingly, CNT/polymer composites can be used as flexible and lightweight heat transfer materials, owing to their low density. In this study, we fabricated multi-walled CNT (MWCNT)/polymer composites with different aspect ratios to investigate their effects on electrical and thermal properties. Through a three-roll milling process, CNTs were uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix to form a conductive network. Enhanced electrical and thermal properties were observed in MWCNT composite with a high aspect ratio as compared to those with a low aspect ratio. The thermal conductivity of composites obtained as a function of the filler content was also compared with the results of a theoretical prediction model.  相似文献

Isolation of bacterial mutants hypersusceptible to antibiotics can reveal novel targets for antibiotic potentiators. However, identification of such mutants is a difficult task which normally requires laborious replica plating of thousands of colonies. The technique proposed here allows for the positive selection of genetic knockout mutants leading to hypersusceptibility. This technique, designated SDR (selection for DNA release), involves introduction of random insertions of a marker gene into the chromosome of a highly transformable bacterial species, followed by treatment of the obtained library with an antibiotic at subinhibitory concentrations. DNA released by lysing bacteria is collected and used to transform fresh bacteria, selecting for insertion of the marker gene. These selection cycles are repeated until variants with a hypersusceptibility phenotype caused by insertion of the marker begin to dominate in the library. This approach allowed for isolation of a number of mutants of the gram-negative opportunistic pathogen Acinetobacter sp. susceptible to 4- to 16-times-lower concentrations of ampicillin than wild-type bacteria. The mutations affected proteins involved in peptidoglycan turnover and, surprisingly, proteins involved in exopolysaccharide production. A further modification of the SDR technique is described which allows for selecting mutants hypersensitive to agents that affect bacterial physiology but do not cause cell lysis, e.g., inhibitors of translation. This application of SDR is illustrated here by identification of several mutants of Acinetobacter sp. with increased susceptibility (two- to fivefold decrease in the MIC) to erythromycin. The same technique can be used to identify prospective targets for potentiators of many other antibacterial agents.  相似文献

Postganglionic cholinergic dysautonomia is a relatively uncommon disease that manifests as an acute and selective dysfunction of the parasympathetic and sympathetic sudomotor nervous system. Here, we present a 27-year-old woman who suffered from subacute onset of bladder paresis. The clinical and laboratory examinations revealed a selective parasympathetic dysfunction including dilated pupils and decreased tearing without an involvement of the sympathetic sudomotor system. From clinical and laboratory evidences, it is suggested that the tonic pupil and postganglionic cholinergic dysautonomia may not be a completely different disease entity but share the same pathogenesis, which is separated only by the severity or the extent of the disease. The patient was diagnosed as 'incomplete postganglionic cholinergic dysautonomia'.  相似文献
